Because it doesn't matter what the system is, it's the ability for the coach to actually teach his system to the team.

They could run the freaking Wing T for all I care, just give me a competent coaching staff

Have you ever seen a coaching staff fail with an incompetent QB?

I've been wanting them to move on from him so my mind doesn't really count him lol

I never wanted Cam and Landon to get extensions. I was very vocal about that when those contract extensions happened

I was more willing for them than Davis. Cam and Dickerson had played at a high level for multiple years. Not sure we could say that about Davis. none currently look great.

Crazy thing to think is this was almost 0-4 right now.

Washington almost beat us week 1 and then everyone has smoked them since except Seattle weirdly last week

Titans have been horrible every game except us.

Bears smoked us and rams came back from 10 down.

Honestly I know it's the first 4 weeks and football is weird usually but this team just isn't trending and hasn't been trending at all in the right direction the last few years

Defense is getting worse which the offense doesn't help but year after year the offense is the same not good enough. If they can't run the ball they are cooked

Im still not seeing how Keenum in Chicago is relevant.

People thought this system simplified things for QBs enough that Hurts could succeed. But some of us were more analytical and recognized that the skills you DO still need to be successful in this offense, Hurts does not possess.

So Ben Johnson has a different system. Obviously he is having success with different styles of QBs. Goff went from a bust in LA to great for Detroit with Johnson. Then from Goff to Caleb Williams- drastically different players. And Williams to Keenum. Obviously Ben Johnson has identified the skills he needs in his QB and has those QBs who are capable of carrying out his vision on offense.

Sirianni never got to choose his starting QB. He has been stuck with Hurts for his entire HC career. Siri has had various different OCs and theyve all had to throw away their offense and dumb it down to a version Hurts was comfortable with. Which clearly no longer works in the league.

So then you admit that Sirianni is not as good as those others, because he needs a specific type of player to run his offense?

By saying Sirianni is "stuck" with Hurts, you're admitting that he is a limited offensive mind.

Wrong.

Its not that Siri needs a specific player to run his offense. The true issue is that Hurts can not run anyone's offense.

So injuries piling up

Tank Bigsby

Saquon Barkley

Devonta Smith

Lane Johnson

Landon Dickerson

Dallas Goedert

Quinyon Mitchell

Cooper DeJean

Jonathan Greenard

Zack Baun (concussion)

Marcus Epps

Hurts isn’t a fit for any offense that doesn’t lean on the running game as the driving force. And he’s certainly not a fit for an offense that isn’t centered on quick passing and isn’t exclusively out of the shotgun.

So Mannion will do what every single OC before him did. Hes going to contract the offense and limit it to what Hurts is comfortable with.

It’s remarkable that everyone thought all the problems would disappear by eliminating Patullo.

Because Hurts performs better in a vertical style passing attack like Ben Johnson's. And Ben is the best in the business if you ask me (even better than Reid, whose variant of a wco would also be a better fit than a Shanahan style offense.)

I didn't think Davis was worth it either

I was definitely high and excited on Carter but honestly can he even stay healthy? They've acted like it hasn't been a big deal but he's STILL wearing that club

well atleast next week the team will get smoked early so i can use my time more usefull then ****ing about this crap show

How can all these people be hurt, it’s ridiculous

This is a lost season

Bingo.

Needs a dominant running game and needs his legs as a threat too. He has neither. As he continues to age it's only going to get worse. Now is the time to prepare to move on

Well obviously I have the benefit of hindsight, but Dickerson has always been high risk for injuries, and giving Jurgens a big extension after major back injury and surgery?

I don’t know man, Howie may have just had his 2 worst off seasons in a looong time.

I agree. Plus choosing Davis over Milton Williams was a huge mistake. We'd be much better off with a rotation of Carter, Milt, and Ojomo. And without all those other terrible contracts could probably have kept all 3. Davis is just a fat, out of shape slob that can't even be a decent run stuffer and only plays limited snaps. Why on earth would you give an extension to that? I don't care if he's a great "locker room guy". I want results on the field and Davis sucks.

Why is that the end all, be all? It's about scoring and winning and not just passing it really fast.

Design a decent offense and Hurts will succeed. Give him the answers to the test and don't let him flail around with free rushers and no one looking for the ball.

But the problem is that they don't know the answers. They can't really tell Hurts what to do in certain situations because they don't know themselves, they're getting out coached every week.

Do you think the league is just now discovering Hurts' weaknesses in the 2nd half of these games?

In 2020, the line was a mess, the WR room was so bad we featured Fulgham for 5 weeks. That still didn't stop the team from moving forward with Wentz, who was desperately trying to carry the team himself. We learned he wasn't good enough to do that. What are we learning right now?

I've seen some OCs who had the knowledge and ability to coach at a high level, and Hurts led them to two Super Bowls.

I've seen some other OCs who got exposed because they weren't good enough to design/call plays.

Kellen Moore, HC. Shane Steichen, HC. These guys can coach their arse off.

Kevin Patullo, helper to the assistant coach, Brian Johnson, staffer. These guys are Peter Principle NFL guys.

Answer me this, if Sirianni were fired, how long would it take him to get a other HC job?

No serious NFL fan base would go for it. He's have to follow the likes of Doug in Jacksonville or Gannon in Arizona where no one cares.

Well, this is why I was actually pretty interested in Kingsbury.

I know hes not the best coach but I thought he might have been the best for Hurts.

Hurts has run like 12 different offense in his career and won national titles and a super bowl.

That's what they are failing to see. The common denominator in all these "failed OC's" is the quarterback. You think something would eventually click and they would realize that "hmmm, maybe the quarterback is the issue."

Hurts has never lead anyone anywhere but down the toilet bowl. Hes been carried to his super bowls.

Damn I guess we'll have to live with another SB appearance.

You guys act like it's some terrible thing to ask a coach to actually get the best out of the playera. That's why they're the coaches, it's literally their job.

I’ve actually had a hairline fracture of my wrist. Usually is better in about 4-5 weeks. However he’s playing with it so wouldn’t be surprised if it takes long.

Reality is i think the bigger issue is their drafts past two years have been bad. Campbell isn’t as good as they intended to replace Dean. Mukuba is up and down and has durability concerns. Stowers is useless this year. Lemon fits the offense but we can’t get him the ball consistently. The best draft picks of the last 2 years is likely Kendall and bell at the moment. Can’t let guys walk and not hit in picks or picks take too long to step up.

Mental health is injured

I'll defend Hurts in this

He's slid feet first multiple times so far AND been hit with no flag and not even a mention by the commentators. It's like it didn't happen somehow but I literally see him sliding feet first and getting hit. That's a flag that can help the drive that we don't get

I just saw Darnold get hit and flags went flying and the commentators were quick to talk about it

This is where analytics is a fail. You see the game how it's unfolding, you need to cash in the points right there. Analytics doesn't take into account emotions and the feel of the game and his the offense has been abyssal. Siri was probably told by the weasel analytic dept to go for the TD.

I totally agree with going for it there. Just hated the play calls on 3rd and 4th down. We get 3 there and we still lose by 1. The way the defense had played up to that point, you figure they get off the field if the Rams are pinned deep at their 1 yard line if you don't get it.
