People seem to just state things we don't know to be true as fact whenever it fits their agenda. If you want to rip Sirianni: "He's forcing his influence on the offense and is undercutting Mannion" or "He forced Stoutland out!"If people want to rip Howie: "He just wants a head coach he can control so he can run the show"People want to rip Hurts: "He refuses to run a specific style of offense."We know none of these things to be true. None of these things have been even been reported to be true. But people keep stating these things as if they're fact. There's plenty of ammo to criticize all of these guys without baselessly stating things and making crap up. All it does is muddy the waters for legitimate complaints and discourse.Welcome to the internet

October 5Oct 5 Again, this season is lost (with regards to contending for a SB). So, looking in the future Howie better go in to classic overcorrection Howie mode and fix the OL.A big part of why this season is lost.

It is either Siri as he is the HC and should determine who starts or it is Howie who is saying play Jurgens because of his contract. To the Eagles credit they basically benched Dickerson after one game. They should have benched Jurgens after the Titans game but they won. No way he should have started against the Rams. He should have at a minimum been benched after the Bears game. Something funny is going on if Jurgens is out there against the Jags.Agreed. They are not serious about winning if he's not benched by next week. Unacceptable play. He's been bad since last year as a matter of fact. But this is a whole new level of bad. I'm pretty sure Howie is weighing on this big time. And Sirianni says today that they are pleased with where Cam is at. 😂 I can't believe he really means what he's saying. He's not gonna throw anybody under the bus or give away plans. These guys are becoming tough to root for. I've been pretty pissed off since last offseason (post Superbowl) and thought Howie had this under control. I'm starting to second guess things again. And that starts with how he handled cutdown day and the roster since. He's the personnel guy and ultimately responsible for roster decisions IMO.

Kendall might have a solid future at C. Bell looked pretty good yesterday considering the circumstances. Steen is not great but he been a pretty reliable and solid starter for us. Yea you can always upgrade with a better player. I'm a fan of Pieper from Iowa. Could be a potential draft pick for us. Who knows if Howie ends up bringing back Steen but potentially both G spots will be addressed in the offseason. I don't believe Landon's dead cap hit is that much. @time2rock broke it down last week I believe
October 5Oct 5 They were probably counting on Cam being hurt by now like Landon. You know, the easy way.

Shipley is a God awful KR. Has no burst into the hole, runs into contact and at best gets what the blocking gives him. You watch other games and you see KR with some burst. And this is my second rant about Johnny Mundt. Guy is worthless yet he is on the field even in passing situations. This is where Stowers being not ready really hurts. He was drafted to be the #2 receiving TE and they have received nothing from him. He was a long-term prospect as a blocker but they drafted him to be ready to catch some passes.
October 5Oct 5 Cam can always be questionable and pop up on the report at any time. Even on game day. And then rule him out. It's not over yet. Still have hope he's not in the lineup next week. They are not gonna embarrass guys in the media.
October 5Oct 5 There are a lot of problems with the team, not just one isolated thing. The biggest are probably O line and the match/mismatch of QB skill set and scheme. It's weird because the team has made the playoffs and won a championship, and many fans act as if they're the Jets with no hope for a long time (or the Eagles of decades ago). What's extra frustrating is the potential and talent there. We have an offensive minded head coach that doesn't seem to have an offense or have answers to run/fix an offense. When Steichen took over play calling the offense improved. Each time Siri hired from within it was a failure. We have a QB with limited skill set and coaches that can't scheme to his strengths, and an O line that sucks and the QB is swarmed instantly, but he also doesn't avoid it well and step up and make throws instead of scramble and bail immediately. We have situations with 3 OL blocking 1 person and unblocked defenders sacking Hurts immediately. Other times, WRs are open and Hurts misses them. He doesn't trust his O line so he's ready to bail because so many times he has to, because they suck. It's a cycle. They had a lot of injuries this week which didn't help yet the game was winnable. Siri is supposed to focus on game management since he doesn't call plays and he screws that up a lot. Yet, he's doing something right during the week because the team believes in him and they make the playoffs every year. It's very odd. It's like the ingredients are there but the cooks in the kitchen aren't using the right recipes, using the wrong cookware and utensils on the wrong dishes, and the GM isn't always giving them the right pieces when there are roster replacements.
October 5Oct 5 OK - let's be clear. Moving off Hurts after this season is only really possible as a post June 1 trade. If we cut him, it's about ~$105.7 million in dead money, so even a post June 1 release would cot us ~$11mm in 2027 cap space (on top of his ~$42mm cap hit) and the remaining ~$55mm would hit 2028. Trading him after June 1 (like AJ) moves the last $22mm of guaranteed money to the acquiring team, but it's still ~$83.7 million in total dead money, with ~$31mm in 2027 (so about $11mm in savings) and the balance in 2028. The problem is - if he keeps playing like this, who would trade for him? If we post June 1 cut him, we can absorb the extra ~$11mm, but then things are very tight, and we still have deals to do. This is also why there's virtually no chance he is benched this year - we need to try and make it seem like we want him, and hopefully his trade value stabilizes.

There are no cooks at all! Just self trained bus boys filling in.
October 5Oct 5 Interesting stat I just heard.Hurts is 25-16 if his OC is not Shane Steichen or Kellen Moore.

Carr? Mestemaker? Sayin? Mensah? Because unless you go Watson or Fields that's the direction they'd have to go. That's also a pick they can't use for a guard or CB2 with Riq probably leaving. Build the OL, get a good coach, and he's proven he can win. I'm all for replacing him, but they still have a core in place that can win. I'd rather not be 2-3 years away again.
October 5Oct 5 @mattwillI made a mistake with my season projection at 9-8. Id like to change it to 6-11I can't even image those who projected higher than me and honestly felt this was a SB team feel lol
October 5Oct 5 2 minutes ago, Mike030270 said:Doesn't he also have a no trade clause?Yes, which adds another problem. With only 22mm of gteed money left, his team will want a new deal from the acquiring team. And no team wants to bring in a QB after June 1 who has missed the offseason program. Basically, we’re stuck. Post June 1 cut, costs more cap, 2027 is a rebuild.
October 5Oct 5 2 hours ago, Parrot Head said:Well, I don't take him seriously in these PCs (or much at all really), but if they're going to make a change it won't be announced publicly. That’s true. But I feel like if he honestly had plans to bench Jurgens or was at least thinking about it, he wouldn’t come out publicly and say "we have no plans to bench Jurgens”. I would assume he would dance around that question with coach speak and say some bland crap like "we evaluate all players week to week and put everyone in the best position to succeed”. Saying we have "no plans to bench him” and then if they end up benching him is an even dumber move on his part and a bad look in general
