October 6Oct 6 Lane was a warrior who put his physical and mental health on the line to compete at the highest levels of this sport for 14 years and helped bring two championships to a city that had exactly zero before he joined this team to become one of, if not the best, OL to ever wear the uniform. If he explained the situation and expressed his concerns, which it sounds like he did, then the FO had opportunities to make contingency plans ahead of time. He gave it his best shot but just didn't have it in him anymore. He owes absolutely nothing to any of us as fans after all that he's already given. And for anyone bashing him for this, I can't even begin to understand their thought process for how they got there. It's honestly equal parts confusing and sad that someone could even have such a perversely selfish reaction to something like this. They clearly have some soul searching to do, or maybe even mental health issues of their own that they need to address.

As a fan some of us can call him out for pulling a Shawn Andrews in the middle of the season without the rap video. That is a selfish move by him to ditch his team and the fans. Doesn't mean he isn't the best ever or we should hate him. And yeah people making a lot less than 23 million deal with a lot more and don't have the ability to just quit."Lane should continue to suffer and play a game he is psychologically not able to play anymore because Joe the Plumber is too poor to retire and I want him to stay" is quite an insane take. That is the epitome of selfishness. Doing right by you and your family is never selfish. Family comes first. Your well being comes first. This is football, it's a game. He owes us nothing.

October 6Oct 6 The vibes are yet again immaculate for the team with the HC whose only apparent quality is being a vibes guy.
October 6Oct 6 I don't get how people are upset about the Lane thing. Who cares if it's mid-season, we're not winning ish. If we were 4-0 rolling over everyone we faced, yea maybe it sucks a little more. But we barely beat two dog crap teams and just got embarrassed on national television 2 weeks in a row. He's doing us a solid, gives us time to look at Bell and if we're lucky we can use our first to get a new QB in the upcoming draft instead of having to use it on an OT.

Nobody forced him into it this summer and he could have walked away. He owes his team, teammates, and fans that. Greatest ever but a dick move. Funny how that position bothers you so much. Very telling.

Will they turn it around this time? Looking more doubtful but losing a HOF tackle in the middle of it sucks as a fan who wants to watch them win.

October 6Oct 6 Can we play start Trotter Jr. going forward? Tired of hearing about Campbell's potential down the road. Maybe his potential will eventually be realized maybe not but Trotter is so much better now that they have to play him. Instincts for an ILb are everything. S ometimes you have them or don't. Exper45 minutes ago, LeanMeanGM said:Clear? No. He's currently at $21.09M in cap space next year. If he filed his papers now, its like I said, a $42M dead cap hit in 2027, so effectively losing $21M in space. If they drag it out and file his papers in 2027 post June 1st, it would push $21M into 2028 and his dead cap would just be $21.09M which would just be a wash. This will be a major multi-year re-build. I'm for taking as much cap hit ASAP to clear the decks for the long-term.
October 6Oct 6 Winning a SB is very hard to do.It's even harder to maintain the roster and win again. There's a reason there are not that many repeat winners.Howie learned from the first one to not run it back with older players that were past their prime. He's invested in younger players he's drafted. That was always the plan in letting certain players leave after winning in 2024. It was also known that they needed to get younger and cheaper on offense to shift that money to defense. The new O line is already taking shape with more to come. New WR group is basically here. TE needs an overhaul and with RB injuries they need to probably move on from Barkley as soon as financially feasible and draft someone 3rd round or later to complement the room. And draft a QB to develop who will likely be Jalen's replacement one way or another. On defense they have a good core but need pieces. And if Fangio retires...

Half of you will say ohhh poor baby it's fine we love you. Some like me will say dick move but he's still the best ever. Others will hate him. Either way, his rep is tarnished now and will be debated forever. You’ve clearly never been an old man in a young man’s game. 13 Jan 2023 I sat down with my boss to set the foundation for some projects and new directions with my section, and go over the promotion stuff he had spent weeks organizing for me. After a long weekend I woke up on 17 Jan, went to put my uniform on and it hit me. Was back in his office that morning to tell him I was gonna retire. You’ll know when you know. Others physical well being is dependent on him, if the fire is gone, the fire is gone. crap comments like this are a perfect example of why suicide rates amongst men are the way they are. I guess my career is tarnished too? The f you going on about?
