October 6Oct 6 I don’t even think this relates that much to some dire situation that most people do. Lane was probably done in the offseason. He probably wanted to end it there. It wouldn’t surprise me if part of the convincing him to come back was for him to get away from the team and to clear his head. It didn’t work.Is it the best timing to walk away in July/August for the team? No, clearly not. But I also don’t think the Eagles or Howie were blindsided today either

But I got imagine he also didn’t get many reps in practice this week so that will probably go down considering he’s gonna get all the reps. From what I saw they didn't give him any help either which is just bad coaching.

You made our HOF RT retire. Before anyone grabs a pitchfork - I'm jokingLane was on the fence before the season and was calling it quits either way. Like the rest of us - he probably considered what's going on in his personal life and watched this dumpster fire of a team. Unlike the rest of us - he has the money to walk away whenever he wants whether we like it or not. It doesn't bother me that he made the decision. It would've bothered me if we were on the doorstep of the Superbowl. That's fair. Walking away from this trash heap a couple of months earlier than originally planned? Meh.He's going down as the best RT in franchise history and a 2x SB winner. It's going to be strange not seeing him out there ever again, but we always have the past 14 years, some dog masks and trashing the Patriots culture to look back on.Cheers, Lane. Hope you and yours are well

The next coaching hire and QB have got to be the right guys and lets face it it's absolutely time for a new direction with both spots.Yup. Imo i said 2026 should be the demarcation line for sirianni and hurts. Can like or hate them, but this year would reveal what direction we should go. Frankly i think sirianni and hurts are both gone by 2028 unless we completely turn it around. Tbh i think hurts is here for 2027 simply cause contractually it’s easier to move on in 2028

I think he was checked out mentally and ready to retire and he didn't want to go out the way things ended last year and then came back and realized what a crap show this team is right now and said "I'm good." I could be wrong and maybe things took a drastically bad turn recently with his parents poor health but I doubt it.

People don’t want to hear this but that would be like cooper dejean getting dealt for picks. They also have mahomes as a constant with Reid. No offense to hurts and sirianni they aren’t Reid and mahomesWould you trade Coop and sign Riq with the money?

But salary cap constraints are going to have a large impact here in the right method. Full strip down runs the risk of many years of losing. Hesitant there.

I don't know the cap ramifications but Howie has shown time and time again he will eat a big cap hit to move on from someone and I just can't see bringing Hurts back as a "lame duck QB."

Plus gives you versatility. I rather draft a young outside corner than look for coop who can likely be a Swiss Army knife. That said you’d get much more for cooper dejean than woolen

Rolling the dice on a 1st just to replace him doesn't seem like it's enough.
October 6Oct 6 As much as I hate to say this because I’m a big Moro guy, if everything keeps going south and there is zero intention to re-sign him in the offseason they may want to field some offers for him.

Hesitant there.Guys at this deadline are woolen, Nolan smith (they are going to choose between him and hunt. I’m guessing it’s hunt. If they didn’t sign and trade for Greenard probably keeping both), Ojomo and goedert. I’d actually say steen as league always looking for competent OL. Would’ve said Barkley but that contract makes it impossible and he may or may not be healthy by the deadline

I think if they flounder down the stretch they’ll wheel and deal to stock pile picks. That’s likely because they are bad but also putting those assets into acquiring the next QB whether this draft, 2028 draft or even trade market
October 6Oct 6 If we sell at the deadline - Nolan, Baun, Ojomo, Riq, Ertz, Goedert could get a decent return.

Otherwise, I just take the comp pick
October 6Oct 6 No one mentioned but baun has one year left on his deal after 2026. If healthy he’d fetch a big package. don’t know cap ramifications and i believe they restructured it. Need either @vikas83 or @LeanMeanGM to break that down
