Two third round picks for Greenard, two fourth round picks (to Dallas of all teams) to move from 23 to 20, wasted pick on Dalton,, two picks for Tank (good trade IMO) etc. He needs to hoard picks like they are gold now.Yes he has recklessly traded too many picks missed on many others and has spent future cap dollars like a drunken sailor. It's now the morning after and the big hangover is here along with the empty wallet. Time to dump salary and acquire as many mid round picks as possible to get the cheap players we'll need to fill out our cap restricted roster
October 7Oct 7 So there's been a discussion on Jalens slower to release mechanics and it got me thinking.Haven't all 3 of our last main QBs had this as a flaw in some sense. Wentz had the long wind up and didn't Nick take a 2nd to get the ball out?I guess what I am wondering then is did Nick and Carson just read the field a bit better than Jalen is currently.

Howie's done some to refresh the roster, but letting it go this long to find a Lane replacement is inexcusable. Bell might be it but Lane had been flirting with retirement for at least two years now, if not longer. We're lucky if Bell is the guy but there should have been someone on the roster already. The O Line depth has been neglected for a while, we just trusted it to bringing back guys like Brett Toth, Sua Opeta and Fred Johnson for years.

We won't have the money to re sign them and we need mid round picks to get many cheap players to fill out the cap restricted roster. Nolan Smith we might have gotten a 4 at the draft. Now probably a 5. Steen for a 5. Ojomo could get us a 4, Goedert a 5 or 6 Woolen a 5. I don't know Baun"s cap ramifications. We might get a 3 certainly a 4 for him if the prorated money that accelerates isn't too high. We just won't have money to keep these guys. A year or two ago I saw a chart detailing we had spent way more future money than any other team. Something like 190 million, twice the amount of the 2nd highest team. It's tear it down and rebuild time and you do that by shedding salary and acquiring as many picks as possible. Howie needs to fire sale this roster before the deadline. But the problem is getting Jeff to understand it's over. He and Howie are super stubborn and may not be able to mentally and emotionally come to this conclusion until we go 4-13 or 5-12. By then it's too late to deal many of these guys. I waited 50 years to get a SB win and we were blessed with an amazing 2nd one. I feel tremendous gratitude to finally experience the joy of two titles. It's now time to rebuild. We have to keep Hurts another year. I see him as a great fit for the Steelers when it's time to trade him. Or the JetsWell, with Howies ZERO DOWNSIDE! ™ cap strategy, it's Steen and Ojomo. That's the list.

I was just looking at it from a dead money perspective so I didn't bother to flip it. If you look at it from a 2026 cap hit perspective it brings Goedert and Woolen into play (no one is trading anything for a kicker and I don't think you could even get a 7th for Brown at this point)
October 7Oct 7 Also... I left the second half of the list off on purpose.Yes, you could get something for Hunt, Bell, etc. But if the goal is to get younger and shed salary, then that means you got to go back and fill that roster hole with a draft pick that may or may not hit, so you risk going backwards.

Parentheticals added for the glass half-full folks.

If Jurgens and Dickerson hang them up to we're going to break records for dead cap next year, we'd officially be in cap hell.

You should change it to Trade (post-June 1) 😉There's guys on there with guaranteed bonuses that if you cut add to dead cap but if traded, do not. Greenard, for example, would be $50M total in dead cap and $31M dead in 2026, but if he's traded it's just $4M dead in 2026 and $18M dead in 2027
