EMB Blog: 2026 Regular Season (Part 1)

Featured Replies

Eagles were 8 seconds away from having Kurt Warner and the national media glaze Hurts in a wild frenzy because of obvious chaotic circumstances with the offense. Yet, if I read this board he's an absolute bum and should trade him for a late 7th rounder like Dalton. Long season y'all. If we lose to the Panthers, then the gloves are off. 2-3, about where you would have expected. Not gonna lose perspective to irrational and raw emotions. This is one beatable league right now. Gotta get their shidd together.

Ok what are the options? From what I understand the cap ramifications would be insane. That aside, what are the other options?

McKee getting signed to an extension despite not being able to beat out Dalton for backup spot?

Journeyman like Cousins or Tua?

Rookie?

It’s hard to see how Hurts isn’t the starter going into 2027.

I’m not saying they don’t draft someone and/or bring in a guy who could push him to start, but it’ll be his job to lose.

I think that’s what those 2028 draft picks are for. Hurts contract makes it really difficult to move on from him until after 2027.

To me, Hurts is an above average quarterback. Hes basically what we paid for him, a second round pick.

Those extra picks in 2028 were just situational. AJ wasn’t happy playing for only an above average QB anymore and Kendall looked good at Center so Howie saw a chance to get value in a trade.

I don’t think Hurts needs to run to be good. But he does need a solid run game and an o line that can buy him time

Right now? No one. In the offseason? No one.

I just wouldn’t pay him a dollar more than he’s already owed, wouldn’t extend him, and would be as aggressive as possible in drafting a replacement in 2027 or 2028.

I’m looking to see if Arch Manning drops to the second round. I heard he has a bad weekend this weekend. Then we keep him around until Hurts expires?

.After Goedert got the 1st down, it should have been 3 runs and run the clock out. Obviously he should have kicked it out for the end zone, I'm glad Nick took responsibility for that. They only had 8 secs, make Trevor have to do a hail Mary.

It didn’t even have to be three runs in a row. You had to run it on first down. Because you had to make the Jaguars burn their last timeout. After that, you could’ve thrown it on second down and picked up some yards then called a timeout with under 4 seconds or if incomplete then just run it on 3rd down and call a timeout with 3 seconds left. It gets lost because of the stupid decision to kick the ball off the way they did. But there wouldn’t have been a kickoff if the clock management was better. Would’ve been either Elliott walks it off or we lose on his kick

I know you Hurts guys are confused how football scoreboards work, but you are allowed to score more points in the 3rd and 4th quarter, even when you have a lead. They actually tally the points from all 4 of the quarters played, not just the first two.

I will use same logic on the defense. The 4th quarter score they gave up late in the game is unacceptable. They are allowed to make defensive plays in the 4th too. It's all dumb. I'm blaming everyone. I could make a list of 20 reasons why they lost this game. It's all subjective. Maybe racial. Who knows?!!!

The miners got 4 TOs and only up 8

You don't extend him until you have to.

Nobody was going to glaze Hurts for that. Unlike his cult, Kurt Warner and smart NFL people realize you have to put teams away, and you can do that by not being the most inept second half offense in the league.

There is going to be tension in the offseason if they don’t.

Seems overhyped. Pass

I think you extend Hurts about as long as the Ravens kept Flacco

Who was 33 when they parted ways

You obviously weren't listening to the broadcast late, when he came clutch.

Which would also be weird. You can't do nothing for six drives the entire end of the game, the get 30 yards and it be hailed as a great game.

Bad call to let them return it (after already having one big return called back) and terrible kick return coverage are most definitely #1 culprits. But again, an offense that could together one decent drive in the 2nd half and we are never in that position.

New Cowgirls convert. Not used to a QB being able to make game winning drives. Much less get roasted for needing to have a game winning drive.

Hurts plays the rest of this season. There isn’t any getting around that, and there isn’t a suitable #2 QB on the roster.

I said before this season started Hurts is a diminishing asset and I have zero interest in extending him to another contract. I would have gladly eaten the dead money to move on after 2026. With Lane and Jurgens now leaving dead money I’m not sure that’s even possible.

I do think the Eagles have to draft a QB in the 2027 draft to create a light at the end of the tunnel. I don’t see Hurts being benched this season. I very much hope he’s benched at some point next year.

28 minutes ago, e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! said:

I think two things can be true. Hurts does not fit this offense. It does not do what he does well. So you’re not really using his strengths and maximizing his talent.

second thing is, sirianni has no background in this offense. So he is essentially useless to Sean mannion and the assistant trying to run this particular offense and implement it. So you’re essentially asking a bunch of assistants (some who weren’t very good elsewhere) and a first year OC who’s also play calling for the first time to implement it and have it be functional.

Imo if they want to run this offense, I think you gotta get rid of sirianni and get a coach in here who has extensive background and experience in it. Also have to move on from Hurts for a quarterback that excels in that type of offense.

What does Hurts do well?

I do, It was such a big part of the game and the threat of him taking of also helps open up running lanes.
Him being more of a running threat is why the 2022 O was so dynamic.

Where the 12 second half points allowed by the defense ranks for the season.

Where the 3 second half points scored by the offense ranks for the season

The point is he had so many other decisions besides the one he made. They had no timeouts, why would you let a kick return happen. This is one of the most baffling losses in a while, SMH.

I think part of it was situational. I also think they wanted to give themselves optionality in case they had to move on from Jalen hurts at the end of 2027 (when his contract is finally movable). They’re not stupid. They’ve watched this passing offense from 2023 where it had extreme problems blocking the blitz to what it looked like in 2024 to getting worse in 2025 to now being what it is now.

Imo they are trying to get as much draft capital and high draft capital as they can. Because they know if this offense continues to look the way it does with Jalen hurts at quarterback, they have to make a switch. They’re not gonna just keep running him out there for the next decade because they won a Super Bowl in 2024. Can’t live in the past. You have to look at what he’s gonna be going forward and what he is now. If this is what it’s going to be (2 seasons of a bad pass offense; not all on him either why i think sirianni is also gone) they now have options. I think they truly believed if hurts stepped up in 2026, now we have future pics so we could get younger and cheaper to help him. But if he’s not, now we’re stockpiling pics that could potentially find his replacement going forward.

All he does is win

Except for weeks 3-5

He had no running game and a line that couldn’t pick up the blitz. Yes he missed the pass to Wicks and he threw behind Goedert but he also didn’t turn the ball over which many QBs would have done. I don’t think today is the day to blame Hurts.

oh jesus. He didnt turn the ball over... such a lowered bar. Im am so beyond uninterested in hearing hurtscuses. The pass catchers repeatedly showed out today. If he was more consistent in finding them, and throwing accurate passes, theyd have had a huge passing day. He was very much a huge issue.

Im fully aware of the OL injuries, and troubles with SOME blitzes. But they did not make it impossible to function on offense today. Much of the time, Hurts did.

In the context of things this would have been a great TEAM win. Which is all that matters. They needed to hold the fort the 1st half of the year and stay in contention with OC transition and now all the injuries. Nothing has changed for me on that. If and when they have a season ending injury or play bad with a healthy roster, only then, will I shift and adjust my opinion. Lot of unnecessary panic here.
