I don’t know, how much would you have trusted Jake with a 51 yarder? If the option was to get 7 yards closer with the Lemon catch and take your chances with 8 seconds remaining, I probably choose that 10/10 times.

Issue was more first down tbh. If you run on first down, the jags burn the last timeout with under 25 seconds. That really opens up a lot of the playbook for 2nd down. Can run or pass. The incompletion allowed them to keep the timeout. Then lemon running OOB on 2nd down allowed them again to keep their timeout and have time remaining regardless of what happened on third down unless it was a first down by the eagles.

If they burn their timeout on first down. Then lemon does what he does and they run on 3rd down like they did, the eagles call timeout after the 3rd down run with 3 seconds. Jags don’t get a chance at getting the ball back.

The boot game and OZ runs are staples to this offense. Goedert is the key to the boot, and Barkley/OL are key to the OZ runs. I don't really care who the QB is, they're going to struggle trying to run this offense with the injuries they've had. Mannion's scheme worked week 1 with Goederts 2 TDs and 5.4 YPC on the ground.

The 1st half, they seem to have a good game plan. Once teams adjust, the offense doesn't have an answer.

Week 3, Chicago outscored them 17-0 in the 2nd half

Week 4, Rams 14-0 in the 2nd half

Week 5, Jags outscored them 12-3 in the 2nd half

I’m no special teams expert but it’s odd to me that our kickoff return/kickoff coverage is ass while our punt/punt return has been performing very well.

The NFL sucks. Say it year after year when unimpressive teams that shouldnt have like 14 wins continue to stumble their way to 14 win seasons. The Giants very well may still win the vast majority of their games.

The eagles taking care of business in both NY games is going to be key to catching up to them and potentially surpassing them.

SMFH at some of these modern day players. The Cardinals are losing by 24, their TE catches like an 8 yard pass, gets up and spins the football and does the "feed me” "eating” motion. 😆😆

A lot of QBs would’ve won with this roster. A lot. Simply being average is all it took. Look at hurts. He played well in 2 super bowls, which was clearly an outlier. But the years we went to the Super Bowl we were run heavy offenses.

An outlier is 1 Superbowl maybe. Once he got to 2. All of these arguments went in the toilet. He can get you there again, but he has a seriously diluted roster (than those 2 teams) right now. Let's face it. This current defense wouldn't win a Superbowl with anyone. So let's get a number 5 defense back and maybe we have something. No one is winning Superbowls these days with a middle of the pack defense. You are expecting miracles with what they have here. Maybe look at Howie. How is he faring after inheriting a 2024 roster that looked invincible and here we are. You can't be giving us Johnny Mundt, Grant Calcaterra and Ertz's corpse and expect miracles. And the broken down OL that we started this season with. And a zero running game.

Talk about bad QB play at the end of the game - Herbert has been a disaster

I 100% agree - that's why I said that hell they could have run a tush push on 1st down if they were worried about a run play knocking them further back

Tbh I thought they were gonna run a QB draw on 1st down. They hadnt run it in a while. And you could see that the Jaguars were just sending the house. Since they called for an all out blitz (i believe that’s what they did), hurts may have done what he did against Buffalo a few years back. Instead, they sent everybody and he had to get rid of it fast or take the sack which was gonna knock him out a field goal range

Jake has been money this year, I think he could have hit it, it's water under the London bridge now. The bottom line, 8 seconds, you make them have to do what Lamar did. it should have gone out of the endzone.

The thing with drafting well is eventually you have to pay them or let them walk. Dean blankenship and Milton would be killer on the squad right now. There are also 31 other teams who need players who arent paying the dts and a qb nearly 110m a year. Howie has created the same situation he did after winning the last superbowl. Lot of odd contracts floating around. Gonna have to eat a lot of dead cap to start over .

Avoiding turnovers isn't something you can build an offense around

Can't build an offense around the deep ball when your qb gets happy feet.

His not that good with his legs anymore.

I think everyone honest with the situation can figure out the lack of turnovers. Hurts throws more than his share of INTs when he goes over the middle, does the tight window thing, and throws in more volume.

We’ve seen it repeatedly early in seasons. Then Hurts and the coaches adjust into the familiar offense everyone hates…and I’d argue almost any qb isn’t going to toss INTs when plugged into that.

No clue why Brissett is still in that game. He was awful from the start. When they got down big should’ve just threw beck out there. At this point might as well see what he is.

oh jesus. He didnt turn the ball over... such a lowered bar. Im am so beyond uninterested in hearing hurtscuses. The pass catchers repeatedly showed out today. If he was more consistent in finding them, and throwing accurate passes, theyd have had a huge passing day. He was very much a huge issue.

Im fully aware of the OL injuries, and troubles with SOME blitzes. But they did not make it impossible to function on offense today. Much of the time, Hurts did.

Hurts isn’t going anywhere. We’ll have him to at least start the 2027 season.

Yup

Thats why howie is stockpiling the 28

Picks. That will likely be the qb year

As much as it sucks, the injuries matter. Wr need to let the season play out and see if the offense can improve

He didn’t take us to the super bowls. He was a game manager. Clearly you don’t remember having an historic year for Saquon. The first Super Bowl we were clocking 9 min running drives. Hurts was along for the ride.

I'm not arguing to give him an extension.

I think he its hard to build the team around him that Hurts needs to really succeed while you are paying him $50m+

But he does have certain traits that do contribute to winning

Fair enough

He is a highly variable QB with great intangibles who can elevate his play in the playoffs. Not unlike the 2017 Foles run but a better version of that type of QB.

He can play some of his football and go toe to toe with the GOAT and outplay him. But all 3 wild card losses have also been total clunkers.

So tell me who threw those deep passes to AJ Brown and Devanta Smith that gave them each 1000 yards seasons? Was it AI? SI? These are just dumb viewpoints to think "any QB" could do that. There's 18-20 legitimate starting QBs on the entire planet right now. The rest are Tanner Brady and Carson Strong types. There's a strong divide between starter and non-starter talents.

Chip Kelly couldn't get any of that action?

At this point, everyone is kind of saying the same thing about Hurts, just different languages.

Guardrails are in place. No one is really arguing that Tanner McKee should start. That was an ill-fated dream. No one is really arguing that they want Hurts at this point or moving forward. Also ill-fated.

But we are where we are, the contract is what it is, and someone needs to kick the ball around under center (or in shotgun, to be more accurate) while Howie reloads personnel.

As long as there is no BS about actually sinking more money into him and their eyes are firmly fixed to the horizon and NCAA qb prospects, I don’t care that he’s the Ty Detmer / Doug Pederson of this new era of Eagles football. Just make it quick and don’t start hitting me with ideas that he’s going to be more than that again.

I know there’s some people that aren’t gonna like this (later on about chambliss), I could see them trading up for a quarterback in this draft with those picks. I listened to Daniel Jerimiah talk about the quarterbacks in this draft class the other day. He loves chambliss. With the way he thinks, it is very on par to how the Eagles think. so I could see him I could see them loving him as well and trying to move up to get him.

I’m not saying they should do that or that I even like the kid. But when Daniel Jerimiah talks about stuff like that, my ears perk up because he tends to see things similarly as the eagles do.
