I think you extend Hurts about as long as the Ravens kept Flacco

Who was 33 when they parted ways

So you’d give him 5 years $300m this offseason?

What does Hurts do well?

Avoid turnovers

Deep ball

Intangibles - hard worker, calm under pressure, capable of rising to the moment

Can use his legs when play breaks down - take off or extend plays

Short yardage conversions / goal line TDs (TBD if still valid)

After having to suffer through weeks of "Guys, you don't understand... Jurgens is a center. It's not easy to switch positions!" Lampkin comes in also playing a different position and plays against what has been one of the better DLs in football and plays better than Jurgens did in his first NFL start. So yeah, I'm glad we don't have to hear more of that crap.

In general I'm just over the lower the bar and lowering standards BS I've been hearing this season. Where we have to pretend to be excited when an offense that punts like 80 times in a row finally has a nice drive or an offense scores their first points in the 2nd half in 3 games. We're the Eagles not the Fing Jets. Enough already.

At the moment not much. But then again they weren’t moving on from him at the end of 2025. Contract doesn’t allow it. So he’s here through 2027 regardless. Frankly i think they were ok taking 2028 picks that are higher picks so that if he stunk they could have capital to go get their next QB and if he was good they could build the team around him with cheaper rookie contracts.

I wrote a longish post about the polarization about the guy. Two camps. Those who break qbs down by mechanics, progressions, able to call line assignments. These are the ones who think jalen is below average. The other party says he does whatever it takes to win so hes amazing (philly underdog ish)

The second group will ignore the bad pass, then the bad sack if jalen runs for the first on third down, all good.

Makes the argument go on forever

Your post was very on point.

The thing is, the argument for him is extremely basic. The argument against him is much more analytical which gives it firmer ground to stand on.

Its people who see nuance, vs people who dont. I know which side of the debate sounds like the smarter side that Id want to be on.

I don’t know if this actually true or not 🤣

Where’d you pull $300m from? Chat GPT says Flacco made $150m in his whole 10 year tenure at Baltimore

Pretty sure that's a satire account

Will be interesting to watch breakdowns, but for all the talk of missing pieces…the OL looked like they created a lot of clean pockets. Not their fault they can’t block 7 with 6 or 6 with 5.

Condensed sets and running into stacked boxes is still the norm for this team. Also there’s not a healthy RB capable of OZ or stretch on the roster this week. Going against probably the best run stopping team in the league with pierce and…pierce?, I give the run game a pass.

Seriously? lol

The hate he gets here is not commensurate to his career success. A short rope AF. If this guy is Herbert, it's a walk in the park for him and he never has to buy another drink in this town. Speaking as a white person right now.

This team is a couple of plays away from being 0-5. Smoke and mirrors in their 2 wins.

Between the poor coaching, qb, and FO they're not going anywhere this season. What a waste of a potentially good defense.

This team is on it's way to the Julian era. Enjoy.

First 3 weeks were not good. The wins against very poor teams were unimpressive.

Last 2 games against the vaunted Rams, and a hot Jags team... much more impressed that this low functioning, and literally decimated eagles team have been able to gut out performances where they were in position to win right up to the final moments of each game. Gives me reason to believe that things can come together for them as they get healthier.

So Im less on the almost 0-5 train right now, and more on the, this team is playing poorly but they may pull it together wagon.

Of all the completed week 5 games so far, only the Titans and Bears have scored less second half points than the Eagles.

Also notice how not a single time this season has the play action bootleg worked? You see it work like 10 times a game for every other team, but whenever the Eagles do it the edge defender just stays at home on Hurts and it always ends with throwing it away. A play I've been jealous of for years this team can't even run. it's all such a Fing joke. 😂

All he does is win

Except for weeks 3-5

He and Nick have lost 8 of their last 13 games. So the whole narrative they just win is out the window now.

Td Hawks

Maybe we can get Kellen Moore back after this season?

That was a loooong time ago. The only thing about Flacco that applies is age.

You said age 33 for Hurts. Starting QBs after rookie deals are getting 55-65 it seems. Hurts through 33 then means 5 years 300.

You don’t have to blame Hurts for today at all if you don’t want.

But do you extend his contract in the offseason if this keeps up? Do you tell a HC interviewing that their job is to get the best out of Hurts and adapt to him?

I would give Hurts some of the blame. But he would not be high on the list. But every player always has part of the blame. I guess I just look at games differently than others. Nobody is faultless. Jalen Carter had a great game… but it was not flawless.

As per usual… Everyone is focusing on the QB position. Whatever… That is the norm.

As for your question, I’ve already stated multiple times that I would not extend Jalen a second time. I think I first said that after his first extension.. He is a winner with a great work ethic. Great player to have as your leader… But it comes with limitations. Capitalize when you get a guy like that…and the Eagles did.

That said, there’s a shelf life to that…

The only reason Kellen Moore worked was because the league was not prepared for Saquon Barkley and a 2K yard season.

Teams literally the next year said their goal was to stop our Run game and make Jalen beat them with his arm. Which we can see doesn't exist so the teams have not stopped that approach.

Kellen Moore would not be able to do anything with this offense

Any logical fan would take Mahomes over their starting QB

The best argument for Nick and Hurts has always been the same.

It may not be pretty, it may not be typical, it may looks scrappy but somehow they will find a way to pull out the win. Hell, even 2024 had a lot of those against bad teams.

Problem is that has stopped happening so how do you defend the bad play / decisions. Injuries will be the obvious one for the last 3weeks

Avoiding turnovers isn't something you can build an offense around

Can't build an offense around the deep ball when your qb gets happy feet.

His not that good with his legs anymore.

I don’t see the Eagles giving Jalen hurts another 5 years. He’s 28 years old right now. The passing offense has gone from not being able to pick up a blitz in 2023. Being largely inconsistent in 2024 until the very end of the season. To 2025 being a bad passing offense. Now being one of the worst passing offenses in 2026. If the trend continues, i don’t see lurie just sitting around giving him more time then when his contract allows them to move on which is end of 2027.

Lurie knows this is a passing league. The fact our passing game has progressively gotten worse over the last 4 years and unlikely Lurie just accepts it cause they had ultimate success in 2024. Doug got 3 years and then was canned.

San Fran imploding. You hate to see it.
