EMB Blog: 2026 Regular Season (Part 1)

Featured Replies

I had the Eagles at 2-3 with this 3 game losing streak in the offseason. I had and still will stick with a 3-1 stretch into the bye, parking them at 5-4 and in the thick of the division race, ultimately winning it.

But this Panthers game is THE must win. They lose that game at home and fans, coaches, players, media, owner, European soccer fans, scientists in Antarctica...will all emotionally and operationally punt on this season.

I find it mild to moderately amusing that every time Lemon catches the football, there is a shower of posts saying "everyone who said he was a bust is an idiot." ....as if the guy has arrived as a successful first round pick because he just caught a first down.

First of all, no one has ever called a first year player a bust. It's not fair and indeterminable. Secondly, there are many of us that never liked him as a prospect well before he was drafted by the Eagles. Thirdly, if you fall into that camp, all we've seen is reinforcement of that notion. 5 rec for 43 yards today at an 8.6 yard clip. Positively a Greg Wardian impact. Now 15/108/0TD/7.2 ypc. Numbers that would make even many historical rough, doomed Eagles 1st and 2nd year WRs wince.

Wow, that’s some serious slander for the guy who broke our 3rd down failure streak! (I think it was him…).

Jokes aside…I’ll take 700 yards out of the #4 option at WR this year. Dude is probably going to have a Jeremy Maclin type career…never a super star, but a very competent contributor. That’s at least my hope and expectations for him.

Just to get clarity, you had us sweeping the division. Then that would mean you had Panthers as a loss....so 2-4.

Excited about the upcoming run against NFC East teams and who we could potentially have back by then. The RG situation is concerning if the answer is Fred Johnson. But it is just as discouraging if the answer is Landon Dickerson.

But the defense is back to playing well. Cooper has earned himself a part of the offense. Hurts and Lemon are developing a chemistry and trust.

I think we lose next week to the Panthers to fall to 2-4 but then I think we go on a 4-1 run over their next their following 5 games to take the lead or at least put them right in the running for lead in the division.

Weird

Jake is doing great

I was told Smith could handle replacing AJ

Hurts doesn't want to run. What makes you think he'd want to tackle?

Crazy how quickly we have gone from the best OL to a bottom-10 OL

OL didn’t look like a problem today honestly. Not their fault they can’t block more people than they have blockers at time. I consistently saw clean pockets and shockingly much better communication. No free rushers really on hat on hat scenarios.

People here have said he was a bust.

That's why some of us say it.

Hurts had like a 56% pressure rate.

3 undefeated teams left (KC, SF, MINN). The 2006 colts (started 9-0) are the last undefeated team to win sb.

He got blitzed how often? Pierce was the only RB allowed on the field for how long? Were they perfect…nope, but they certainly looked better. At least in the first half, the wheels came off in the second half and i was chasing a child around paying less attention to the OL.

The irony of the offense being terrible this year is this is the first year in a while where they have backup OL who really look like they can play. Bell and Lampkin can play in this ligg. Kendall too.

Run blocking has been poor for 1+ year now.

Pass blocking is better but there have been more issues than usually from the OL of early Sir/Hurts years

For people punting on the season, one of the most enjoyable finishes to the season and playoff runs was in 2008.

Last year of Jim Johnson as DC just as it might be with Vic Vangio as DC. Eagles started 2-3. That 08 team's low point of the season wasn't until Novdmver though with a tie to the Bengals followed by a blowout to the Ravens where McNabb was benched.

Then also in 2019. That offense was getting blasted with injuries that tesulted in a lot and poor play from some veteran players still around who were big parts of the 2017 Super Bowl team that resulted in a lot of back ups and oractice squad players that QB had to play with. That team started 3-2 but fell to 5-7 for it's low point on December 1st when they blew a big lead to the Dolphins. Turned it around and won the division and I think most would agree they likely go on a hit of a run in the playoffs if Clowney doesn't spear Wentz in the back of his head.

The season is long and each are filled with their own unique trials until the team either sinks or swims. I believe the Eagles will win the division.

Minnesota is the biggest fraud of the 3. Murray hasn’t looked good. And COD gonna come out soon. That offense in general hasn’t. Really got the fortune of a packers week one, who look much better lately. And bears losing Caleb Williams On a drive where he looked to be about to score before pulling his hammy. The Bucs, dolphins and saints stink.

Niners are ok. I don’t think they are as good as their record especially with the amount of injuries they have had.

If we lose against Carolina - I will be on board with firing Nick, but herein lies the age old problem - do we promote Mannion to HC or do we look for someone else that we think could play to our teams strengths ?

I've said multiple times they have a chance to go 6-0 in this division because it's so bad. But in @mattwill 's season prediction thread, I have Eagles losing in Washington, which still feels right after winning the next 2.

At a certain point, who will their injuries cost them against? They have wins over the Rams, Broncos and Seahawks. Three teams that I would say most consider top 10 teams in the league.

We are likely getting another Chiefs-49ers Super Bowl which sucks because the 49ers and Shanahan will get the trilogy of Super Bowl match ups against the Reid and Mahomes Chiefs instead of us.

They would probably make Vic the interim HC and give Mannion full control of the offense.

I really can't reconcile my head with the notion that Mannion doesn't already have full control of the offense.

Run blocking

It’s kind of hard to look at run blocking. For some reason coming off Saquon’s 2k season they decided to strip Stout of his run game coordinator role (without even telling him till he got back for meetings). Since then they’ve done nothing but invite teams to stack the box and dare them to pass with the non stop condensed sets. The Jags also might be the best run stopping D in the league.

Honestly, they went from having an amazing run game and plan, and decided after winning the SB to blow it all up…for no reason. Injuries and decline in play def is a part of it but the main issue is in the system.

Mundt is awful by the way. I'd rather have Calcaterra.

Vic has 1 foot out the door…he’s probably walking if they even approach him for that.

As I recall, he wasn't stripped of those duties right at end of 2024. It was done to try and change something after successive weeks of bad performance during 2025.

Don't get me wrong, I think it was a mistake but they didn't just go straight after winning a SB to nah, next year we don't want to do that.

But yeah, teams stack the box and dare us to pass and we can't
