The moment Nick should have been fired is the moment it was him or Jeff. They’ll say system change and scheme change, but feels like they wanted him for OL coach and not run game coordinator cause no one would take the job. No offense you don’t let a first time OC with no play calling experience not have someone with years of experience there to help him. Feels like stoutland even if not immersed in this scheme/system may have been able to help him.
October 12Oct 12 Coaches get fired in-season for one of 2 reasons: to salvage a season in which the GM/owner still have high expectations or as a F-you to the head coach. We all know what it was when they fired Chip Kelly with one damn game left.Prospective coaches pay attention to how you dispatch your current coaches. We witnessed that wrapping Patullo in the solitary blanket of shame and blame and then incinerating him while running it back with the same personnel didn't exactly help them recruit the top OC candidates this offseason. They'll fire Siri with a big thank you and tribute in the offseason (as they should)

Giants defense is okay but had only one really good showing against Titans and are giving up up mid to high 20s every other game. The last 3 weeks have been brutal, but there is a nice path to 6-3. I hope the defense is what I think it is. If so, no excuses going forward.Commanders gave us fits last time

That should be enough to win. I guess if there's any positives, our backups are getting reps across the board and we are finding out some things.

I know Shipley isnt highly regarded in the blog but, once he went out, Pierce was completely and totally ineffective. Yeah, it was coaching malfeasance to not kick for the touch back, but not kicking the tires on Steele was egregious as well. Now, that was embarrassing

October 12Oct 12 If Saints move on from Kellen Moore after the season, I wonder if the Eagles wpuld be interested in hiring him as HC.

October 12Oct 12 So I didn’t see this angle because I was watching the game on my phone at a kids soccer game…This is absolutely not a defense of Hurts. He has to make that throw catchable, even if it’s severely underthrown… but should we be running a stutter and go against zero blitz with a makeshift OL that gave up pressure on more than half our dropbacks?I know many will see how open he was and immediately say yes, but that’s kind of a long developing play against immediate pressure. Thoughts?
October 12Oct 12 Diehard "Doc” Rivers"Ben is not a 40-point guy. I just don't understand why this is not sinking in in this city... If I'm Ben, I'd get tired of it. Celebrate him and all the things he does well. We don't do that enough.”
October 12Oct 12 It's also time to stop going for it on 4th down with this offense (until proven otherwise).I don't care what the analytics say, which crush data over 1,000's of instances over time and history and teams. You have to account for the fact that you can only trust this offense to fail. Take the points, punt the football, don't go for it.4th and 1, 4th and 4, your territory, inside their 10, long field goal, dead zone just beyond midfield....I don't care. Offense should not be on the field on 4th down; they have not earned that trust.
October 12Oct 12 I haven't given up. Can still make the playoffsLosing to the Panthers might change my mind though

On first down if you run the ball and make the Jaguars burn that last timeout, you could do whatever you want on 2nd down. Throw or run to get some yards then call timeout with 3ish seconds if staying bounds. Go out of bounds then on third down just run it while call a timeout with like 3 seconds left. If incomplete then run it to wast clock then use a timeout. this prevents any kickoff discussion as you end the game on Elliott’s kick

I can acknowledge that it wasn’t a slam dunk decision to allow the return as I said earlier. You’re 100 percent right about managing the clock on the final drive. We should have been kicking with 3 seconds left on the clock.

I like the call. Hurts threw a catchable ball and made the right, bold read. And Wicks was right there. As Al Pacino says, it's a game of inches. That play started with a 3rd and forever and Patullo, Hurts, and Wicks were an inch and a coin toss away from 6. I don't think that particular play registers on the issue list.Nah...I'll at least point to Wicks' 4.62 40 yard dash and yearn for faster WRs.

But I have the knowledge and understanding of how that’s supposed to play out. He’s a CEO head coach these are things you HAVE to be good at cause you aren’t calling plays or running offense or defense.

He doesn't know this system or have working relationships with these guys. It was a bit of a panic hire thought because I think the Eagles felt they could convince Stout to stay on as OL coach only and move to the new scheme.Between the change in scheme and not having the run game game co-ordinator title anymore, he said Stout out. The desire for shift in offensive scheme thought I think first came from the top (Howie, Lurie) to see if that can help the team break out of its offensive funk from last year, not Siri. And so far, its not working at all with the current set up (HC with no experience of the system / a very young coach trying to implement / merge with what Eagles do well / this QB etc etc

October 12Oct 12 maybe a better word than catchable was reasonable. That was a reasonable ball that was just out of reach. And it’s catchable for a faster wr.
