October 12Oct 12 It’ll be interesting how the Eagles go about the QB situation this coming offseason. My guess is Hurts starts playing a little better and will head into the 2027 season as the projected starter but another vet is brought in making his leash pretty short. Look for them to bring in a guy like Mac Jones whose skill set probably fits what Howie/Lurie wants to see in an offense.

Good teams and well coached teams find a way to have a functional offense.I noticed Huntley got the ball out real quick when ATL showed blitz. Someone send that clip of his pass to Andrews along to Hurts.

I honestly thought I would never see one super bowl win in my lifetime, and now we have two.100% up until then my dying wish was to see the Eagles win a Superbowl. Everyone in my family cried tears of joy. 2024 was like pinch me because this cant be real
October 12Oct 12 brian Flores should get a HC gig. Cause really he’s the biggest reason the Vikings are 5-0’

Penix will never develop into a viable starting QB. Add on they had just signed a starting QB to a $100M contract a few weeks before that draft — it was an historically awful pick.No. If there’s a QB you like, take him. Cousins was brought in to be a 2, 3 year guy tops. They signed him not knowing how the draft would play out. Penix is solid. The offense is way better with him than without him. Yes he’s injury prone and yes he’ll never be an All-pro. But McCarthy is straight garbage… He doesn’t look like he belongs on a practice squad

Mac Jones would likely get $20M to sit on the bench. The draft is the place, and that QB would likely come off the bench as soon as ready.

But it’s impossible to tell how the draft would fall

What does this offense do well that your are going to emphasize? Where can we get mismatches on defense? The WRs are pretty good. Smith and Wicks consistently get open. Cooper makes big plays in low usage. Lemon gets open.I just don’t know how you exploit that advantage with Hurts and this OL.
October 12Oct 12 I don’t wanna bash on lemon cause he is a rookie. this is his first couple NFL games and i don’t think he’s the biggest culprit on time mismanagement . But him going down the sideline and getting closer to the boundary after going up field and putting himself in danger of being hit out of bounds like what happened. his route took him towards the sideline but he decided to go for extra yards. when doing so he ran himself even closer toward the sideline. Got to try to stop and cut back in or just go down and stay in boundsat that point when he catches it, what the Eagles need/want is either the Jaguars to burn their last timeout so that on 3rd down you could just run the ball then call a timeout so Elliott’s attempt is the final play. Or the Jaguars aren’t gonna use the TO (save it to ice the kicker) and the Eagles can run that clock all the way down to a couple seconds and call the timeout so Elliott’s kick is the last play of the game. Him staying in bounds sets both of those situations up.

You have to know the situation after catching the ball. his route took him towards the sideline. But after he catches it, he should’ve cut back in. Plus didn’t matter if the play was called to go to him or someone else. Everybody should have known to stay in bounds for the same reason i explained. This isn’t just for lemon. I’d argue their attention to detail can routinely be questioned (IE bears game calling a screen with no timeouts and nearly running out of time before the end of the half)
October 12Oct 12 Watched that kickoff return again. And Elliott just gets in the way of the returner to allow Jonathan Jones to tackle him. It was like the perfect storm for him to fall to the ground with 1 second left. That dude was intent in taking it to the house. He could have kept running without that hesitation and would have been tackled anyway by either Jones a second or too later or another guy from behind. Anything but him falling at that exact moment. It's really just a miracle play for them.

We agree about attention to detail which is once again a coaching issue.

Too many similarities to last year with the plays being called. Is part of that Hurts? Maybe, but the run game looks just as bad. 22 yards today? That's not on him and is too similar. Nick is involved. They have to figure out how to get that going. It's hard to be successful as an offense being that one dimensional.

It's embarrassing, it came up during last night's game thread, there was a Jags play where it looked like we were going to sack Lawrence for about 6 yards and then as our D Line closed you suddenly realised 'ah crap they're running a screen' and he dumped it off to a guy stood on the LOS. Meanwhile we could put "screen incoming" on the screens around the stadium and it wouldn't be that much more obvious what we're running than it already is.

And really it worked because the bears didn’t think we’d be dumb enough to run that play with no timeouts and clock could run out if tackled before the end zone.
