As superficial blood clot is generally not a big deal, though I'm guessing the chances of it moving or becoming more serious are exacerbated by playing a contact sport. The reason they are shutting him down is because it moved - that brings all kinds of remote, but possible, dangers like a pulmonary embolism if it traveled to his lungs. Or it could become a DVT. Now that they have seen movement, the safest plan would be to fully resolve the clot before clearing him.

Let the young guys play. I'd sure as hell rather watch McKee/Payton/Lemon/Stowers/Cooper/Lampkin/Bell/Morris/Kendall go 3-8 and gaining experience from here on out than Dalton/Ertz/Calcaterra/Mundt/Dickerson/Johnson willing em to 5-6.
