Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

His completion % was also low last year because they were throwing it down the field a lot.  I think his aDOT was around 8 last year, while it was under 4 yesterday.

He's shown that he can be accurate in the short passing game.

Here's what I was talking about:

Heck Tom Brady when he didn’t have Randy Moss would dink and dunk and throw WR screens all the way to the SB. The Eagles and Hurts didn’t take stupid chances with the football, because he didn’t have to. He played efficiently and won. Winning is what matters.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

And that's good because I think this offense under Sirianni is going to be heavily reliant upon the short passing game.

Frankly if the play is to get the ball into the hands of his players in order for them to make plays it’s a smart gameplan. 50/50 balls are just that. If you can get the ball to Quez Watkins in space and allow him to use his speed it’s smart. The problem is if the quarterback is inaccurate on the short stuff and the receiver has to constantly adjust and rebalance himself. By that point that WR screen gets blown up. Smart efficient football is winning football.

Agreed. I think Hurts did a very good job yesterday but he's going to have to be even better next week. He's going to have to push the ball down the field more just to keep them honest.

I think the conservative gameplan was the plan, but we have to realize that taking what the defense gives them is smart. I think there were times the Eagles wanted to go downfield, but the play wasn’t there so Hurts just ran with it. There were also times when he got pressured too. The Falcons blitzed him a lot. There were some great blitz pickups by our backs, but that also means that’s one less person in a pass route. There’s a lot of factors in the game. I have no doubt that Hurts can get the ball downfield. Heck everyone was complaining about how he missed Quez on that one deep play in the preseason too.

I'm. Not understanding why we had nothing but complaining from coaches, teammates and fans that Wentz doesn't take what is given to him and it became such a major issue.

So hurts cones in doesn't force anything and takes what is given to him and it results in lighting up the score board and now some want to down play it and say he didn't do that much he just took what was given to him. Some of you are effing insane with this nonsense.

Be effing happy dammit!

Also want to add that Wentz was also criticized for not running the plays the coaches gave to him and led to turnovers and bad sacks.

So i guess going with the game plan is now a bad thing and makes it too easy on the QB....  I thought that what you would want from the coaching staff and the QB to make it look easy. But nope!

100% I think Hurts and Sirianni played/coached a smart and efficient gameplan. Winning is what matters.

There’s an answer. You know what it is. I’ll just state I’m happy with what I saw from Hurts. If he can efficiently move the football and win games that’s good for us. I know he can throw it downfield when he needs to. We have seen him do it, but really people complained about his accuracy and he went out there and completed 77% of his passes. I complained about his turnovers and he had none. On top of that he won. What is there to whine about?

The coaches job is to make it easy on a young QB to build his confidence and not wreck him . Coaches and Hurts have something very positive to build off of they both went out and ran their plan to almost perfection. Who cares if the competition sucked it still builds confidence for when they so go into tougher situations.

Now we all know Hurts is at least capable of managing and making big plays against lesser opponents now let's build off of that

This was a good sign by Sirianni as a coach, and working his offense around the strengths of his players. I feel much better about both Sirianni and Hurts today. As far as who they played well last season both teams won 4 games, traded away high profile players, and added a new head coach. As far as I’m concerned they were on the same playing field. Heck the Falcons were favored in this game. Pundits have been saying for months the Eagles had the worst roster in football. They dominated that team and they were actually sloppy while doing it. No one should walk away from this game acting like the Eagles didn’t accomplish something. They beat a team everyone said was better than them handily in their home.

Yup there is nothing negative about whooping the ass of a lesser opponent that was by all accounts was supposed to be better then us.

People were saying this was a 4 win or less team at the start of the season. The Eagles won four games last season and I don’t think they really dominated any opponent. If anything they kind of shocked the Saints, but they didn’t really dominate them. So this team is a lot better than people are giving them credit, but that also means Jalen Hurts is a lot better than people want to give him credit for too. Especially when you consider the only good win by the Eagles last season was quarterbacked by Hurts.

Not to WASHERS.  If the QB isn't forcing throws down the field (for no reason at all), they think he's not a "franchise QB".

You made one of the classic blunders!

1) Don't start a land war in Asia

2) Never go in against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line

3) Don't expect logic and consistency from WASHERS

Maybe one day they will realize that if you have to make excuses in order for your quarterback to be considered elite, then he isn’t actually elite.

I never understood the 4 games or less crowd. That season was absolutely a train wreck one of the worst I've seen out of this team in a long time from top to bottom and still won 4 games. I didn't see anyway possible it could be the same or worse especially since we had guys that were going to improve and guys coming back healthy and a draft that looked good on paper.

The only way I saw it being worse was if Nick S was a bigger dope then Doug and I just didn't see that from Nick. I didn't have much to go off of but just some of the things he said and his personality seemed like a guy that would do everything he could to make this a better team.

It comes down to the quarterback. Bottom line he’s not the prototype quarterback so they assume you can’t win with him. I mean people were literally arguing against the Eagles being like the Ravens, because they believe you can’t win with a running quarterback despite there being several occasions where that was shown to be false. Heck I even pointed out considering the Ravens had double digit wins last season while we won three with the traditional style we is this even an argument?

The next running QB to win a Super Bowl will be the first.

I was interested to see if Hurts could make throws from the pocket and make several reads from the pocket as well.

I'm not to keen on guys like Jackson myself he wins and all but, he really needs that offense cratered completely around being a running QB. He tends to really struggle when he is confined to being a traditional QB.

Hurts seemed to be comfortable running several formations as well as staying in the pocket to make reads and throws as well so I'm happy with that so far.

I think he’s shown that he can be much better from the pocket than many of us originally thought. He didn’t just one read and run like so many said that’s all he was. He also showed he can be accurate from the pocket even under pressure. Let’s give this kid a chance.

Hey if you don’t think Steve Young and Russell Wilson aren’t quarterbacks who won the super bowl and are capable of winning, because they don’t fit your B.S. agenda that’s your problem not mine. Stop replying to my posts please.

The NFL is about passing from the pocket.  Running QB's come and go, and the next one to win a Super Bowl will be the first.

I just read an article talking about how Hurts was completely in control of the entire game and there was not one wavering moment where it looked like the game was to much for him.

Like I said several times yesterday I was wrong about him.... So far. Happy to see them build off of this
