I don’t think both Pitts and chase are gone by 6 , so hopefully that wasn’t Howie’s thinking

i think he was thinking , many holes to fill , odds are better throwing more darts than less .

It seems clear they traded out because they didn’t like the cost of moving up for the QB they wanted, didn’t love the QB options at 6 and decided to acquire assets in hopes of getting that QB next year without crippling their draft capital.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

"Winning"

I'm assuming the referee in this war was Trump or Fox News.

Seriously, how exactly would you, RememberTheKoy, know if the US really were winning a trade war?  I am dead serious here.

He has it on good authority:

Meh. I single report stating they were moving out because they think a WR would be gone seems like a huge stretch.

We don’t have a franchise QB. That’s the driving force here. The extra 1 next year is incredibly valuable to acquiring one. If we have three 1s next year, no one will be able to top our offer of immediate return of draft capital.

Pitts would be, what, the #4 weapon in that offense after Zeke, Cooper and Lamb? And you still have Gallop in the mix as well. All of these guys are high volume players, too.  They're not Desean Jackson or Tyreek Hill who can rack up tons of yards on a low number of targets.

I legitimately think there wouldn't be enough passes to go around for everyone to justify the resource allocation.

Yeah having loaded talent on offense has really hurt the Chiefs and Buccaneers.

If Mayfield was there in round 2, I would  consider it depending on the alternative options. Though I would want him plugged into G whether Brooks has some ailment or he unseats Isaac at LG

IMO, Driscoll showed more than Dillard did during his rookie year.  Driscoll battled through some serious injuries too.  If we are putting our money on Dillard to get stronger, there is no reason that we can't assume Driscoll won't get stronger as well.

If Herbig can shed his baby fat he could be a very solid starting guard in the NFL.

I think Driscoll and Herbig, while they struggled at times are going to be core pieces to the line for years to come.  They are part of the reason I'm not as worried about the O-Line.

Baby fat?  That is adult fat.  Driscoll could become a swing tackle.  But if these are the guys that give you confidence God save your offensive line soul.

The offensive line is the key.  If it ain't good weapons aren't weapons. Dallas would be smart to take Sewell or Slater if able.

I take Rousseau all day end of rd 1 , his proday killed his buzz , I still like what I saw from him  , another one who can be moved around the los

As I said yesterday  , majority of these edge guys would be best served going to teams deep at the position ,  so they can be brought along slowly.

Still need weapons can’t throw to a bunch of stiffs , and you need a QB who knows where and when to throw the ball. You can navigate a bad OL with 3 step drops , moving the QB , keeping a back in .... but you need someone to throw to

The Chiefs are the prototype, but look how they got that talent.  Kelce was a 3, Hill a 5 (IIRC).  Those are the two cornerstornes.

Now, everyone knows me...I am ALL for going nuts investing in pass catchers.  But there are limits.

If you want great weapons all over the field, you have to learn how to get some of them with less than first round picks (in Dallas’ case).

Or, in our case, you have to learn how to even turn a first round pick into a weapon.

The Eagles clearly traded down because they're not sold on Hurts and want optionality in 2022. If he's the starter, great. If he's not, ok time to pivot.

There was no Calvin Johnson/Joe Thomas/Chase Young level prospect at #6 that would have been worth not having the optionality in 2022.

To reiterate, 44 qbs have gone first, second or third overall in the last 50 NFL drafts, and exactly two--Aikman and Peyton--have won Super Bowls starting for the teams that drafted them. That makes selecting qbs up high exceptionally risky

Of course, but a really good offensive line helps good skill players to be better (2017 Eagles are proof).  Really good skill players do not improve a bad offensive line.

When you build an elite unit I don't think they subtract any points for you depending on where you got the great players.

It's silly the way people are trying to talk themselves into it being a good thing if the Cowboys draft Pitts just like people tried to talk themselves into it being a good thing that Dallas took CeeDee Lamb.

those guys with an offseason in the NFL are gonna be fine. Driscoll looks like a potential starter. Herbig looks like a good backup.

Herbig is only 22.  There are lots of guys out there who have no idea how to build and maintain their body.  Just look at Brandon Brooks.  He was soft looking albeit not the fatty Herbig is at the beginning of his career.  Then he started to take care of his body the right way. It's a matter of if he wants to or not.  Hank Fraley was a fat slob too. I think it was Rasul Douglas who was similar.  Yea, he was slim but he had no definition.  He started to work out seriously and got pretty cut up.  I think JJAW needs to do the same.  They guy has no muscle tone There are a lot of guys who don't take training serious even if they are in the NFL.

Disclaimer, sorry for the shirtless dudes, just trying to show that I really think if Herbig wants to, he can transform himself.

John Elway?

Our O-Line isn't bad at all.  The key is health.  IF the line is healthy, they should be very good.  IF the line is healthy, and you use a 1st on a lineman, he's going to be sitting.  We need weapons.  One of the benefits with Hurts is his ability to extend a play, so even if the line play is average he should be able to find an open WR.  The problem is our WR don't get open.  They need to do all that they can to add playmakers around Hurts.

Believe he wasn’t drafted by Broncos

colts drafted him

I don't have the same confidence.  I'd rather draft a top interior OL than hope mediocre guys get good enough to neba notch above mediocre.

Seems like a technicality, but OK.

The simple fact is that the same QBs dominate SB wins. They’re all HOF types. The best way to get one of those guys is by drafting them, and you get the pick of the litter drafting at #1. You just have to make sure to take the right guy.

No, they traded for him after the draft. He’s still the #1 overall pick and played his whole career for one franchise.
