The Republic Congress preferred to screw the country rather than allow Obama to get credit for turning the economy around (they had no problem raising spending under a Trump administration and running record deficits). Biden has done an end run around McConnell, getting a big enough stimulus to jump start the economy and get income into the hands of those hurt most by the COVID recession (the white collar workers and top 10% have done just fine, thank you) - who are also those most likely to spend that stimulus immediately, accelerating the impact on the economy. Borrowing at the federal level to give money to state and local governments is good economics during a recession b/c the requirement of balanced budgets forces these governments to cut spending just when the opposite is what is needed. Between the stimulus and the vaccinations, the economy should be booming the second half of the year into 2022 - but it'll take a couple years of high growth to get employment back to pre-COVID levels.

If the Democrats win big in 2022, they should raise taxes in 2023 to reduce the deficit (repealing the Trump income tax cuts and double the staff of the IRS so that the top 10% are audited on a regular basis would bring in trillions). This would keep the economy from overheating and slow the growth of the national debt.

I respect the afan football analysis, but the belief in Keynesian economics and thinking the Democrats were at all responsible for a good economy is disappointing.

If Dallas take a skill player at 10, they are removing the chance of making the other areas of their team better. That OL won't get better without some high picks, nor will the DBs. Nor will the LBs.  If they can't protect Dak, doesn't matter who you throw to right?

As for the Eagles, trading down now become moot unless it comes with players or significant future picks. You don't want to get cute and pick another Marcus Smith because you have run out of options - no diss on the kid, but you want to have a purpose to trade down.  All those in-house GMs should know that.

The longer the Ertz thing goes on, the more I wonder if he will be on the roster this season.  It could get eggy with him, but what to do?

Garbage time implies he's not a starter or wasn't playing against other teams' starters; you're being too liberal with the term.  DAL was behind in most games, so of course they're throwing the ball a lot late in games.  Cooper caught a ton of passes in the 4th quarter as well.

It's not so much obsessing that they might take a tight end.

It's the fact that Pitts very well could be the best player in the draft.  Yes, some of the comments that he's the only HOF worthy player are far out there but everyone agrees that he's a freak weapon.  He's a generational "talent/weapon".  He's a mismatch all over the field.  Forget his 40 time.  His wingspan and jumping ability make him a QB's best friend.  He makes the Cowboys better.  He would make the Eagles much better. 

The Eagles lack weapons on offense.  The Eagles were in prime position to get Pitts.  Howie decided once again that a bonafide weapon isn't a priority.  This coming off the heels of taking JJAW, failing to move up for Lamb (as reports stated) and passing up on Justin Jefferson.  Howie is absolutely terrible at judging offensive talent.

There is no guarantee that Dallas Goedert is here beyond 2021.   He also hasn't been the dominant force that we all make him out to be.  He's a nice tight end but is he this top 5-10 TE we all make him out to be?  I haven't seen it yet.

I won't be laughing when Dallas gets possibly the best player in the draft and we are here arguing over what guy Howie reached for at 12.

There is no clear cut top DE in this draft.  They all have question marks.  Rousseau took the year off, tested horribly and doesn't pop off tape the way you want.  Phillips has the concussion issues.  Oweh tested off the charts but his production doesn't match the testing. Turner didn't put up huge numbers and you want that guy to dominate in the conference he plays in.  You have both of the Pitt DE as well.

Paye is the consistent one but he's not flashy at all. 

I just have no idea with the DE in the draft.

Yea that’s why you don’t go DE at 12, just not a good value proposition...which is why I bet Howie takes Paye there.

yeah...but then who's the guy at 37 for us?  Is Oweh's freakish testing worth the risk?  We take too many risks in the middle rounds rather than closer to sure things.

Is Oweh sort of Davion Taylor at DE this year in a sense?  I know Taylor was relatively new to football but the reason they took him in the 3rd was his athleticism.  

If it weren't for Phillip's concussions I'd jump on taking him.

Hamilcar Rashed is a nice late 3rd rd edge guy , heck of a year 2 years ago , had a injury and not as good of a recent year , when he is healthy , he is hard to handle

Depends on your interpretation of "anytime soon”.  The division still contains Dak as the best QB, getting paid almost $125M against the cap from 2022-2024.  The Turds, Skins, and Giants are all flawed teams in some aspect of their roster construction.

WAS is trending in the right direction and have a good coaching staff.  I don’t think the same can be said for DAL or NYG

I am a Pitts guy but as a WR. If we could get him Id be thrilled. However I really dont care if the Cowboys get him and wont be upset. They know how to draft better, sure. But they cant find a good coach and the the owner gets in the way too much which leads that team to self destructing every year.

You can surely agree though that you would prefer Pitts be drafted prior to the Cowboys and Giants getting a crack at drafting him?

Isn't that what's happening here now?  Not so much the good coach but the owner getting in the way.  Nick has a lot to prove that he's going to be a good coach.

NOT defending the Cowboys but all of the arguments we use against them are slowly happening here.

He hasn’t even officially started with the players yet.

This coaching staff is built the proper way; a lot of young minds that could be really good if they’re given enough time.  Hopefully there is a solid pipeline because when the team starts winning these coaches will get poached elsewhere.

Oh, I know.  I wasn't typing that as a slight to him at all, or complaining about him.  I'm just saying he needs to prove he's a good coach and that's the truth.  I'm excited to see what this young staff can do.

There’s a better chance of Pitts falling to 12 than Sewell.
