They did not burn that pick, they used it to add a blue chip talent which is something this team has literally zero of.

But to answer your hypothetical, obviously keep picks you have a higher chance of hitting with (firsts) since you have a problem hitting in general. If you have extra picks on rounds you aren't great in, it's not a huge loss. They didn't even trade away the higher of their two third round picks. People are crying about nothing.

Not so sure about that.   Top 10 is the area you want guys that are perennial Pro Bowlers, guys that are in the discussion of being the best at their position in the league.  Guys like Fletcher Cox, Lane Johnson... even Tra Thomas.

Really feels like everything falls on Tua for the dolphins this year. I like the team they have but I’m not high on Tua. Frankly think he makes them a 7 to 9 win team.

The pick and the trade is logical. There's certainly risk involved given his size (and possibly speed) but you can understand the pick. Now we just hope he can separate in the NFL and stay healthy.

I'm not against the player, or the talent.  I am concerned about the long term with him.  I absolutely hope he proves me wrong 100%.   I am hopeful with this pick.  I would not have been hopeful with Paye.  So, I am not unhappy.  I am just not ecstatic.

if we took jefferson last year, we would not have made this pick..... and jefferson will have a better career than smith.

I thought that too. Took davis. He was great this year and is super athletic. In that defense he likely thrives. Rivera likely got his kuechly for that defense.
