I realize the Eagles have a new coaching staff this year, but some things are conserved across generations.  Worth looking at the Eagles' centers over the years:

Bubba Miller: poor man's Kelce.  Very mobile blocking in space.

2002-2005: Hank Fraley.  Not a starting quality NFL athlete, not mobile, not strong...but reportedly/presumably very good pre-snap and reliable.

2005-2010: Jamal Jackson.  Sort of the Tra Thomas of OC's.  Not very active in opening holes on the ground despite a huge frame, but you just weren't getting around him to pressure the QB.

2011-present: Kelce.  Attitude, coach at the LOS, huge mobility blocking in space.  Can get collapsed into the pocked.

 

The center is the glue and the bridge between the two sides of the OL.  The underlying similarities here are pretty cerebral players with a certain toughness to them.  Some big and immobile, some small and quick.  Dickerson may actually fit the mold they want at center despite seeming like a polar opposite of Kelce upon first glance.

I have no idea why you continue to make these weird jabs at Tra Thomas.

How do you undo a trade involving draft picks that have already been exercised? Think this through.  

Anyone of these recent picks, who we could have had at #84, make a difference?

Its not his job to squeeze value at the expense of talent though.   It's all speculation.  But I do trust Donahoe more than Howie.  Donahoe comes from the Pittsburgh organization, where they have a type of player they covet, and they always seem to end up with, without getting cute and moving around a ton on draft day.  Howie moves around all the time, and has a far worse track record of drafting success.   Is it really "value" when the players don't work out here?

What this night tells me is that Howie 100% is the guy making the moves.  New coaching staff or not, Howie is running the show.

Jabs?  I am a Tra Thomas fan and think he's one of the most underrated players of the AR era and one of the best Eagle OL of all time.

Honestly though no one looked thrilled/excited in the room but Howie. Think Howie and the Analytics guy went rogue on the scouts. I had Williams in the mid 4th round. Can still be a nice player but the reactions in that room say a lot.

Good.  I prefer Williams to the players that went in the interim.  Knowing that he wasn't the guy our scouts/FO preferred makes me like him even more.

Besides the voices in your head, what tells you that. They have always valued the lines as an organization since Lurie bought the team and have had more success drafting there than at other positions. They haven't forced positional needs to gotten poor value with either pick tonight which are both Howie specialties.

The trade with the 49ers from last year's draft for Marquise Goodwin was voided because he opted out for 2020.   The 49ers surrendered their 7th round pick this year to the Eagles.  I've thought it through, as has the league it seems.   Provisions are in place.

Forsythe in R4 please, have Stoutland coach him up. He has all the physical tools, another Mailata.
