not still. It just became his show this year, and he is doing well so far.

I like Tom Donahoe as a senior advisor.

But let's no act like he's some genius. He drafted Willis McGahee in RD1, then followed that up the next year with JP Losman. So he has a history of not only drafting injured players in RD1, but not prioritizing positional value.

You can be both higher rated and similarly rated and also not think it was worth missing out on the slightly higher rated player for a sixth round pick.

Agreed.

But you can also be indifferent and make a small trade down.  I would argue the majority of the room (or at least the decision makers) held that view.

I said 'potentially'... while they might have been similarly rated, it sure seems like someone in that room believed that there was a significant difference.

The Cowboys drafted a 6-7th round pick at pick 99. 

We did the same thing last year with Davion Taylor lol.

I'm not sure what the point is of this absurd overload of 6th and 7th round picks in a year when this draft loses player differentiation around  the 5th round.  All those picks will basically be UDFAs.  They may literally cut half of those picks.

Weidl seemed to ignore Howie while in conversation with Lurie, the analtics guy was grinning ear to ear, Donahoe was grumpy.  Only Howie and the analytics guy seemed to be celebrating.

Was it depressing last night how he got Devonta Smith AND a first round pick for a 3rd next year and Pitts/Chase were off the board before 6 as it turned out.

Another question:  Why would Howie trade back from 70 to 73 for just a 6th round pick when we already had the most picks in the NFL and potentially miss out on a higher rated player?  The world may never know.

Because as he said, you can trade those later picks and they had several players with similar grades available to him. The world knows, some people just don’t listen when they’re told.

Of course Tom seemed to not like that pick.    This question I posed goes back to the conversation with TEW about trading Ertz and physicals.   When asked how a trade can be undone with draft picks (which just happened this draft with the Goodwin trade), he posed the question about why Howie would want more picks this year to have to reneg them next year as they already have the most picks this year.   Which begged the question why Howie had to trade back this year to get more picks this year?  And interestingly enough, it was right after that trade back and the subsequent pick that the video came out with Donahoe being surly.  

 

I'm not trying to make it a thing, but that's how the question came around to be posed.
