I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Love all 3 picks, best draft day feeling in years.

Same. This is rare. I've hated pretty much every draft besides 2018's the last few years. I really really hated 2017

I don't dig into the depths of the draft as much anymore, so my wish list without names for our 26 remaining low-value picks:

1. An athletic, fast CB who fell because he has a lot to learn.

2. A sticky CB who was a great cover guy in college who fell because of unimpressive measurables.

3. An athletic, fast LB who fell because he has a lot to learn.

4. An instinctive LB, tackling machine, good first step in coverage, who was great in college but fell because of unimpressive athleticism.

5. A fast, gadget player who is a return specialist.

6. Some 6'8" 370lb OT who has played football for 2 weeks after leaving his prior life as a dual sport athlete in power-lifting and ice-dancing.

7. Any RB in round 7 so I don't have to hear about how they need to draft a RB.

8. Punter

well....it would only be donahue's opinion that McNeil was better. So... what now? Nothing. Just enjoy the draft. Howie is doing good.

Just pointing out that afan likes to toss his opinions in there as if they are facts.   It would stand to reason that Howie would not trade for a 6th round pick to move back if there was a significant difference in their grades of McNeil (presumably) and Williams, but the reaction of Donahoe would imply that at least in his mind, there was a significant difference.   And maybe he was alone in that, and maybe the dozens of others involved in the grading process all put them at the same tier and Donahoe was the only one who saw the difference as significant.  But, clearly, he wasn't on board with the decision.    That doesn't make the decision wrong.  I actually like Williams and the athleticism that he brings.  I'd like him to have longer arms, and @ManuManu is working on setting up a graft for him to fix that problem, but I like him.  I wouldn't throw the Aaron Donald comp around so easily as others have.  He's got some similar measurables, but Donald is a generational talent, and Williams is a 3rd round pick.  He's got a long way to go before he can even be in the conversation.  But, he seems like a good kid, super athlete and if he 'loves ball', he might learn enough techniques to make up for the deficiency in arm length.

I don't hate this draft.   I'd give it a B+ yesterday, maybe an A- for that Smith pick and trade up.  Putting the Move from #6 to #12, then Wentz trade and those pieces... that whole process makes that round an A.   Round 2 gets a C-, which could rise to an A+ if somehow Dickerson can manage to stay healthy and put his talent on the field, but it could also just as likely, maybe more likely become an F if the injuries never go away.   Round 3 is a solid B move.    Overall, so far its a decent draft.  Not as much impact as I was hoping for, considering that Dickerson's health is a wait and see, but it could turn out really well for 2022, because I don't see Dickerson winning a starting job while not getting a lot of reps while rehabbing.

I'm all about doubling down on the OL tomorrow. One of Trey Smith, Deonte Brown, or Stone Forsythe please.

No.  You claimed it was impossible for them to trade Ertz because of the physical, contract, etc.   And that if he failed a physical then they couldn't 'undo' the trade.  I provided the evidence that such a option exists and provisions are in place.  You then changed the argument to it being for the future picks.  Ertz could still be moved, and then those picks moved on to pick up a different veteran.

I'm not closing the door to either next year's draft or this year's.  You pretty much put forward that no trade of Ertz was possible.

You can come up with an example Goodwin, but neither the Eagles nor the team trading for Ertz would use that structure. It’s too complicated and doesn’t make sense for either team. Goodwin was a bit player. He was optionality for the Eagles. Ertz isn’t a bit player for a potential suitor. He’s not optionality. He’s a significant acquisition.

The Eagles wouldn’t do the deal because they won’t want picks now that could cost them picks in the future. The counter party wouldn’t because any team trading for Ertz would be doing so to fill a hole at TE, and if the trade falls through they then wouldn’t have the draft to fill that hole. Which leads us to the fact that Ertz will be more valuable after the draft because, again, the draft will be over and a team trading for him would have more urgency.

Then there is the issue of the contract and the financial outlay.

I’m not sure what else to tell you other than it is very, very unlikely that Ertz will be traded tomorrow.

There were 8 QBs selected in the 1st 3 rounds of the #NFLDraft , the most in NFL history...

It is what happens in that case.  I don't know what to tell you.  You asked how to undo that type of trade and for me to "think it through".  It has been thought through and it happened just last year.  Not sure what else to tell you.   You can say that you don't think that teams would prefer to go through that, and you'd likely be right.  But, you can't eliminate the possibility.  The possibility exists.  The Eagles have made trades for players during the draft in recent years, so the idea that another team might do that as well isn't crazy.  It's different.  The money plays a role.  But, the acquiring team is NOT on the hook for any guaranteed money in acquiring Ertz.  So, the financial part isn't as bad a deal as you are making it out to be.  If the acquiring team wants to rework his deal, that changes things, but they can get him for a one year rental at his salary $8.5M and make a decision after that, with no long term commitment.

You are talking in absolutes that the Eagles won't, or the other team won't... but they could.  That's the extent of my point.  It could happen.  I make no predictions on if it's likely or not.  The longer it goes without happening, it certainly seems the odds drop.

Lance Zierlien’s big board based on his scouting and taking to NFL folks had Williams as a top of round 2 player and McNeil as a bottom of round 2 guy.

Don't pay attention to that. Or that Brugler had him 70, DJ 72, CBS 72, and PFF 73. Barrett Brooks and some guys on twitter said the Eagles draft board is terrible  if he was their top rated guy and it was a horrible pick.
