I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Unless Hurts is so bad this season that he loses the #1 job to Flacco during the season, I don’t think any of the Eagles first round picks in 2022 will be used on a QB.  I see edge rusher, CB, and S as the likely picks.

Also, I still think Hurts and Jamie Newman are somehow related.

If there's a top QB that they can get next season that can be a certainty for a future then they should get him IMO

I mean yeah I like that approach. Do what SF have done and then go get a QB to finish it off. But they have the resources next year that's the difficulty.

Even if Hurts is really bad this season, I’m dead-set against using more than one first round pick to climb up to #1 or 2.  That’s just not the best way if you’ve still got roster holes.  Identify the right guy like KC did with Mahomes at #10 or HOU did at #12.  Those teams both gave up some draft capital to move up, but not the overpayment that SF made to go #12 to 3.

I like Trey Lance, but Lynch and Shanahan have been getting roasted some for not being more patient and getting him at #6 or 7 — where people think he might have been available — all in 20/20 hindsight, of course.

No we do not...at least not clearly.

Douglas does have to take at least some of the blame for being part of an Eagles FO / Scouting Department that delivered some very poor drafts, and some obviously poor choices (even at the time the picks were made).   He can't have the role of basically #3 in the organization (behind Lurie and Howie) but then blame everyone else around him for failure.

But Douglas has a chance to wash some of that stink off of him with the Jets.   So time will tell.

If Douglas turns the Jets around and into a good team and solid organization, then it will provide him some personal validation (in my opinion at least).

#4 in the organization.  Don Smolenski is supposedly #2, but not related to football moves, unless it comes to a coach search, apparently.

But to hear some others talk, they made it sound like Howie was answering to both Doug and Schwartz.  That would move Douglas down even lower.

Personally, I put the vast majority of the blame on Lowie (thanks to e45 for that new name).

BWF actually made a great point about hurts and the eagles decision to move or keep him as the QB in 2022. If they go 8-9 and he’s the 14-16th ranked QB is that enough? Cause some will say it’s not and others will say well it was his first full year starting so maybe he gets better with another year. To me you want him to either be really good (ideally) or really bad. If he’s really good you don’t need another QB. If he’s really bad the decision is made for you. You don’t really want something in the middle where he’s middle of the pack and just OK cause you basically are going to potentially find yourself stuck in purgatory and move the QB situation back another year til you can make a decision. If you are rebuilding toward 2023 and expecting that’s the year you are a playoff caliber contender you don’t want to go into the 2023 offseason potentially needing to find your QB

I don't think Lowie is going to settle for just average QB play. They were quick to move on from Kolb, quick to move on from Foles (Chips call, but Lurie likely signed off on it), quick to move on from Bradford, quick to move on from one bad year of Wentz, and feels like contemplated moving on from Hurts already after 4 games. Hurts being a late second round pick, I don't think they will be patient with him if he looks just like a middle of the pack QB.

All depends on their evaluation of who that QB is.  From the limited amount I’ve seen of the 2022 QBs I like Tyler Shough the best; if you did a poll right now he’s probably listed as the 4th or 5th best QB currently.

Oh I'm with you I'm really with you. I want them to build this roster and next year they can go a long way to doing that. If they invest all those picks in to a QB then we are in the same position we were with Wentz really.

Now actually I like the way SF have done it. They've built a really good young roster and now they've added the QB. Now OK maybe they did overpay and maybe Trey isn't going to be a really good nfl QB but I like the strategy. If he's really good then as the team start to lose some of their star players (can't afford to keep them all) then they have a stud QB to paper over that. And in the meantime if Trey is good then they've got a roster that can contend.

Walter Football 2022 mock for Eagles

3.eaglesb_logo.gif Philadelphia Eagles: Kedon Slovis, QB, USC USC_logo.gif

The Eagles will give Jalen Hurts a chance to prove himself in 2020. If he fails, and the Eagles are drafting this early, they'll likely select their quarterback of the future.

Kedon Slovis showed tremendous potential as a freshman at USC, completing 72 percent of his passes on an 8.9 YPA figure.

20eaglesb_logo.gif Philadelphia Eagles: Jordan Battle, S, Alabama Alabama_logo.gif
2021 NFL Mock Draft Pick (as of 4/28): Jaylen Waddle, WR

The Eagles signed Anthony Harris as a low-risk, buy-low addition. If he doesn't solve their safety issues, they'll have to look elsewhere.

Jordan Battle showed big upside in Alabama's secondary last year.

22eaglesb_logo.gif Philadelphia Eagles: Derion Kendrick, CB, Clemson Clemson_logo.gif
2021 NFL Mock Draft Pick (as of 4/28): Jaylen Waddle, WR

The Eagles have been hurting for cornerback help for quite some time, so perhaps they'll spend one of their first-round picks on the position.

Derion Kendrick has displayed good coverage skills in an improved 2020 campaign until the semi-final when he was torched by Ohio State.

Love these early mock drafts.

The QB class isn't very good next year is it? Who's expected to be the best QB?

It's ok.  I'm not over the moon for it.  Prefer Memphis style.

Why?  You really think they went BPA in this draft?

Maybe not true BPA, but a recommitment to the trenches.  I think their not picking a CB on day two shows that they weren't going to reach for need.

More importantly...I'm KC style (sweet/spicy) for ribs, Georgia (fruity) for pork, and Texas (basic salt and pepper) for beef.  I do, however, enjoy a good Memphis style rib.

Doesn't really matter to the Eagles, they aren't projected to get a comp pick anyway.

I have no idea who is expected to be the best, but these guys are all midgets.  Except for Shough from Oregon, these guys are all 6'1" or 6'2"

We 100% picked the wrong year to have multiple firsts if we need to package them to move up for a QB.  Plus if we don't want one,  I don't see anyone wanting to give up a huge haul for any of these guys.  Obviously that is going to change, but this is the weakest QB class in quite some time.

its a much better QB class than this years.

Listening to the Journey to the Draft pod, apparently Gainwell had 4 family members pass away due to COVID which is why he opted out of the season. That's awful.

People are way too optimistic in their "at worst” opinions or a prospect’s floor. His worst is a lot lower than a more athletic Vinny Curry.

Afan... overly optimistic in evaluating a player on the Eagles' roster?

Can I start complaining about Howie wasting a top 3 pick on a USC QB yet — or is it still too soon?

theyre far better players.

Caplan said he was told Herbig lost 30 pounds. Good. He was embarrassing looking out there.

@Outlaw thoughts on the 2022 QB class.  Looks like it is deeper, but no WOW prospects at the top, and they are all midgets.

Is it mock 2022 season?

Fair comparison.

I think it could be even worse though...think Bryan Smith or Daniel Te'o-Nesheim level of worst possible outcome.

That doesn't mean I think this will be the case with Williams, but one can just never really be certain until the pads go on.

It can be even worse than that... Round 2 flops like Quinten Caver... or what about one of the worst ever 1, 2 punches in the history of the Eagles.... Bernard Williams and Bruce Walker (ironically, pick 37)... 1 had a single season, then couldn't give up the doobie.  The other couldn't even make it out of camp on the roster.

Lol
