Who is great in the NFC? Packers and Saints are losing their QB. The Rams nor Seahawks scare me the way the Packers and Saints did in 2020.

Do I think the Eagles win squat this year? No. Is it POSSIBLE to win the division and a playoff game. Sure. The competition isn’t great.

You really like to argue over nothing.

It doesn't matter who is great because that is how far the Eagles are from great this upcoming season.

The only way it is possible for the Eagles to win the di vision and a playoff game this year is if Hurts takes a massive leap forward and is a Pro Bowl QB.  But you're on the anti-Hurts crowd so I don't know how you suddenly have this insane optimism that this team is good enough to win the division and a playoff game.  Have we just hit that point of the offseason?

The Eagles were the 6th worst team in the league last season record wise.  The team really did next to nothing in free agency except a few bargain bin one year deals and letting guys on the team go to clear cap space.  Everyone in the league feels like their team improved after the draft but this team was bad and this team will very likely not be good this season either.  They are absolutely in the midst of a rebuild.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Good job, man. But, tomorrow might be tough. The day after I got the 2nd one, I had to sleep like 18 hours. It was like being drunk with sleepiness.  On Day 2 of the Draft, I was basically sleeping off and on during the whole draft.   I got the Moderna.  Hopefully, you don't have that.

I got Moderna also. My company owner said he just had a mild headache but he had Pfizer. I’m expecting a rough going.

Howie was on Rich Eisen's show today.

Roseman was on NFL Radio with Bill Polian a couple of hours ago as well; they asked him to talk about the OL, from left to right.  First words out of his mouth were "At LT it starts with our first round pick, Andre Dillard ....”

Maybe they are trying to drum up trade offers for him or maybe Howie has already determined who is starting before the coaches do. Wouldn't be surprising.

The Eagles went through 14 different OL combinations just last season.  They’re not trading OL players.

The Eagles in 2021 have both a low floor and a low ceiling. A ceiling of 9 wins is not "good".

Respectfully disagree, depending on how we win those 9 games. If Hurts plays well and wins 9 games in his first full season as a starter, we are in good shape moving forward. Ideally no, 9 wins is average at best, but for year one in a rebuild, I think we would all take it.

solid interview by the best GM in the biz.

Kerryon Johnson is worth kicking the tires on, but he pretty much lost all his explosiveness with a bunch of knee injuries. It’s sad. He looked like a good player.

He would immediately be our best pass protector.

Cool. I just got a little sleepy and dizzy but it knocked my wife on her butt for over 24 hours so who knows.

One theory is the stronger ones immune system the stronger ones immune response to vaccine which could explain why young  people have shown to have stronger reactions than those that are older with weaker immune systems.

Good luck stay hydrated either way!

You only deal in absolutes... I specifically said that I don’t expect them to do squat this year but it’s not completely out of the question. I don’t expect Hurts to ever be a franchise QB but is he good enough to squeak out 8 wins in a terrible division if the O-Line stays healthy? sure. Now those are big IFs and unlikelys.

But according to you saying there’s a slight chance of something in something happening means I have insane optimism....

Not sure we want to bump Gainwell down. Not sure Johnson wants to come be RB3.

Id love to have him over Scott, but realistically dont think thats happening. Just get me a CB already!

Not a corner but I'm surprised the Eagles haven't kicked the tires on Malik Hooker yet.  Would be a nice risk/reward signing at this juncture.

That could be the most depressing thing I've heard in a while.  Maybe he's saying it just to make sure Dillard's head is in the game.  If that's the case, I don't want anything to do with Dillard seeing as we've been warned how mentally weak he is.

Division won't be terrible though.  Dak is back, Cowboys have a top 5 offense in the league.  Redskins might have a top 5 defense in the league and an offense filled with big play potential to go along with it.  I'm not big on the Giants but they have at least a league average defense and an offense that has some talent on it for sure.

I don't see 8 wins winning this division.  Cowboys or Redskins are going to get double digit wins and there is a decent chance that both do.

You've been a part of the Hurts hate crowd.  The only way this team wins the division is if Hurts has a tremendous year and this offense manages to be even better than the Cowboys.

Even if Howie knows Mailata has the job (which he doesn't, it's basically Stoutland's decision since I doubt Sirianni would overrule him), he's going to boost Dillard, never know when someone comes calling and you don't want them quoting you saying "well, if Dillard can win the job," when they try to low ball you.

I agree, though I think the giants will be better than what's being said in here. I see us in last place pretty easily.

Apparently isn’t good in two high and we already have our single high safety.

Gannon must not have liked him at all.

If someone offered a first for dillard they should do that in a heartbeat

Something I’ve been thinking about in the aftermath of the draft and our moves (or lack thereof) in FA in terms of how our defense is being built.

* We added a single high safety and a coverage-first LB from the Zimmer defense. Avery, an afterthought, was moved to LB.

* In the draft, our lone premium resource was a pass-rushing 3T who can play some DE. Later we added a DT who some project as a 3T and others suggest he’s more of a nose.

* With our lottery ticket picks, we added a DE who’s at his best as an inside rusher, a safety-turned LB and a DE who has some experience as an over hang backer and could be described as a homeless man’s Anthony Barr.

* The only cornerback we added is a fourth-round pick who has experience both outside and in the slot. Gannon is said to value intellect and technique over height-weight-speed. Does that suggest zone over man?

All of this might be just be coincidental due to how the board broke or our lack of cap space, but I wonder if the plan is to have a defense full of hybrid players we can mix and match against based on opponent. And going further, could this be more of a zone-based, blitzing front seven that Gannon believes he can scheme up coverage behind, meaning he doesn’t need to invest as heavily in corner as Zimmer does?

What player on the current roster would they NOT trade for a first?

I have to admit, as much as I am loath praise Howie, I think he had a very good draft. Devonta Smith is a stud, and Landon Dickerson is a monster. If healthy, he's going to be one of the 3 best OGs in football for a decade. A multiple time Pro Bowler. I don't think they reached on any picks and Williams and Gainwell were solid picks. I would've taken a chance on Trey Smith in the 6th round, since Brooks and Kelce might both be gone in a year, but if the blood clot thing really is that much of a concern, then whatever.

The Eagles with 3 potential first round picks are actually positioned pretty well. If they trade for Watson next offseason, then I will eat all the crow in the world with Howie, because right now I'd have to call the Eagles the favorites to land him. Legal issues not withstanding. They have the most draft capital, and several insiders have said Howie is willing to go all-in for him. And the other rumored teams in the mix(Niners and Bears) already filled their QB holes. The other rumored team in Miami gave their first round pick to the Eagles, and they own the Niners, who will likely bounce back to being an elite NFC team again. So if the Colts pick conveys, the Eagles likely will have all 3 first rounders better than Miami's pick. The Eagles have to be clear-cut favorites. And I don't think Watson will use his no trade clause after this legal drama he's dealing with. He'll likely be a good soldier and go to whatever team wants him. It'll be a bad look for him being snobby after dealing with all this stuff.

If Howie essentially gets Watson and Devonta Smith with that trade down from 6, it'll be the best move he's ever made as a GM, and that includes any moves he made in the 2017 offseason. And I'll give him all the credit in the world for it.

Trust still needs to be earned though, but this was a good start on their part. If they are able to land Watson a year from now, things will be looking very good for the Eagles future.

Right now I'm enjoying my time off from sports, I really needed it and still do. It was causing me more anxiety than it was bringing me joy. Got a lot of home improvement stuff done I've been dying to get done and have finally started up on this stack of books that I've been dying to read. Mostly World War 2 stuff for now. Skipped the draft for the first time in like 20 years, and woke up the next day with some texts from friends on their picks and I was pretty shocked they ended up getting Devonta. I thought for sure they'd have stood pat and took a Kwity Paye or something lame. Good for him. Good things happen when you don't get cute and go BPA, eh?

Hope everyone enjoys their summer, because it looks like you'll actually be able to this year. Things opening up!
