That's a different argument.  You said would you have a first round exit or a higher pick? I'd take the playoffs every time.  It's a loser mentality otherwise

It’s the same argument just expanded. The question was specifically to the 2020 Giants. And not just a higher pick, it’s a first round exit or the Bears first round pick in 2022 plus a higher pick. At the time of the tank, I can see your argument. As of today, they should be thanking us, or at least not be salty about it.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Flyers blow a lead with 40 seconds left and lose in OT

Phillies say we can beat that, and blow their game 3 separate times; takes some effort to have 3 guys blow the same save in the same game.

It would be great and when we beat them, they will really be miserable.

Mad about what? Would they have rather had a first round playoff exit or Chicago Bears 2022 1st round pick.

Bullpen was awful. Blew a 3,2 and 1 run lead.  But how Fing terrible is mccutchen in the field. He’s been freaking awful all year in the field. Last week he gives up a double chase he simply doesn’t catch the ball. Tonight he had 3 separate plays where he botched it.

Sounds like good teamwork!

Nah. Not with how pathetic they were last year.  They should be more mad at themselves than not being able to backdoor the playoffs with a .375 winning percentage

Nah, they wanted to get into the playoffs.  I'm sure they are mad at themselves but they wanted in rather than a better draft pick.

Definitely psyched about the Eagles signing Harry Crider. I'm more concerned about their ability to develop players than what he has to offer.

We did the Giants a FAVOR when we tanked.

Come on.  If the Eagles were sitting at 6-10 and were in position to be humiliated as the worst team in playoff history, picking in the 20's...or pick #11...and needed the Giants to win to make the playoffs, I would be GRATEFUL if they tanked their game.

Thanks to us, they have Toney and a first round pick in 2023.  If we didn't tank that game, they'd have only Toney.  That is lost in all of this hoopla.

Post your expectations for the role (not stats) of each draft pick in 2021...followed by the role for the 2nd year 2020 picks:

1. Smith.  #1 WR.

2. Dickerson.  First interior OL off the bench.  Will have >4 starts.

3. Williams.  Frequently used rotation piece at both DE and DT.  Logs comparable number of snaps to Sweat, and not far off Hargrave or Barnett.

4. Mcphearson.  Starting outside corner.

5. Gainwell.  Rotational RB.  Starts the season behind Scott, finishes ahead.  By the end of the year in the games that Sanders inevitably misses, he'll get most of the carries.

6. Tuipulotu.  Game day inactive all year until/if injuries give him a shot.

7. Tarron Jackson.  Needs to beat Ostman to make the roster.  Either practice squad or a seldom used rotational DE.

8. Stevens.  ST and, as the year progresses, will get real snaps as a LB.

9. Johnson.  Practice squad.

1. Reagor.  #2 WR (I hope).

2. Hurts.  Starting QB (refraining from comments).

3. Taylor. ST, sporadic snaps at LB.

4. Wallace.  Safety depth.

5. Driscoll.  Deep OL depth.  Mailata/Dillard off the bench first at OT, Dickerson off the bench first for iOL.

6. Hightower.  Inactive WR.

7. Bradley. ST, sporadic snaps at LB.

8. Watkins.  Hoping for WR3, but likely active, but seldom used WR depth.

9. Prince...already gone.

10. Toohill...already gone.

Not going to get much from 2020 outside of the 1st two picks.

This time every year, I post that the biggest improvement or regression on every team comes from what you do or don't get from your 2nd year draft class.  The OL situation and Wentz overpowered that a bit last year, but the lack of help from the 2019 draft class played a big role:

1. Dillard.  Missed season/useless.

2. Sanders.  No better than rookie year.

3. JJAW.  Useless.

4. Miller.  Useless.

5. Thorson.  Useless/gone.

An entire draft class entered year 2 and did nothing to boost the team.  That's a huge reason they only won 4 games.

For 2021, the roster improvements (or lack thereof) will be from Hurts at the QB position and Reagor getting better.  The rest of the 2020 draft class really offers no possibility of making the team better.

You're not predicting a breakout year for D. Taylor?

As of now, Wallace is your starting safety. We will see how long he can keep the job. Hopefully he provides quality play and shows he can be the future starter when Harris and McLeod are gone.

Driscoll is going to give you quite a bit. A very valuable and versatile depth piece who also may become a starter.

Reagor, Hurts, Wallace, Driscoll, and Watkins have a chance to make it a really good class.

All right except Sanders. When you account for his regression in the passing game (after thats what he worked on so hard in the offseason) maybe you can say overall it cancels out. But he progressed immensely as a runner.

So I get that the Eagles are bad, but why exactly are the Giants talking trash?  Did they get a new QB and OL when I wasn't looking?

Wallace gets the start over McLeod & Harris? I don’t agree. He didn’t show much of anything (not to say he can’t take a leap).

McLeod is injured. Wallace and Harris are your starters.

I somehow completely forgot he tore his ACL in December

Tape guys, why no Maddox at safety? He was good there as a rookie, no?

yes, I think we're going to be QB purgatory for many years

Smith is definitely a blue chipper.

The best and most confident I’ve seen Maddox as a pro came during his time as a safety.  He seems to be a fit there too.

The problem is that we don’t have the bodies at CB.  They are likely penciling in Maddox as the inside CB.

Even though they play different positions, I think of Devonta Smith similarly to Deshaun Watson.  Both were extremely prolific on the highest stage in the CFP, but Watson was doubted at the NFL level because people said he didn't have a strong enough arm, wasn't a good pocket passer who took off running too much, etc.

Watson turned out very well in the NFL; hopefully Smith will be as successful.

Meh. For such a strong guy, he gets overwhelmed way too much.  Not great feet, bad anchor and a lunging punch that doesn’t stop anyone.  Juriga, albeit against lesser foes, looked better in college.

If it weren't for Miles Sanders, the 2019 draft has the potential to be an all-time dud.  If you combine the fact that 2017 you only have Barnett left (maybe just 1 more year) and possibly just Sanders from 2019 if Dillard doesn't pan out then you can put a lot of blame right there for where this team is.

I think Epps could be a surprise S1 or S2 when the team rolls out the defensive starters.  He's shown a lot more (which isn't much) than Wallace has.
