Anyone that buys popcorn at a sport events needs to give their head a wobble.  Take the money and burn it, it'll be easier. 😉

Having said that, Westbrook needs to stop talking ish and acting like a div, but that "injury" magically got better after the popcorn shower didn't it?  Maybe the power of popcorn healing needs to be looked into more.

Actually, let me walk back my previous response. I hope those future 1s help set the foundation. We have to hit on those picks, which we haven’t done lately.

Listening to the ITB podcast and Mosher said Reagor was fined a couple of times for being overweight, but it wasn’t due to being out of shape, it was because he didn’t follow the Eagles’ workout plan and had too much muscle. He’s now at 192.

Howie isn't going to be in the FA market in a serious way until 2023, so he's fine for 2022.

A lot of picks in a deep draft (and look for Howie magic on draft day) to add to a roster which will be tweaked all season.

We'll find out if Hurts can play, if so, a lot of people should be looking up crow recipes.

We'll see what tricks Sirianni has up his sleeve, especially a scheme that will use all 5 targets (RBs, WRs, TEs) and spread the ball around like vintage AR. One result is Smith probably won't put up Jefferson numbers, b/c the RBs will catch 100 passes.  Indy, 97, 70, 124 the last three seasons.  Philly 53, 77, 90, 59. Note Reich threw the ball more to RBs in Indy than Phllly, personnel or the Sirianni effect?

We'll find out how Gannon uses DBs v Schwartz. No more putting mediocre CBs on a man island with a 10 yard cushion for easy throw and catch.

Given that most of this is a complete unknown, let's relax about the instant judgements.

Hurts is a good example, how many rookies hold the ball behind a shaky OL with the receivers running the most deep routes in the NFL?

OL:

NO:  Mailata - Seumalo - Kelce - Herbig - Driscoll

AZ:  Mailata - Seumalo - Kelce - Herbig - Pryor

DAL:  Mailata - Seumalo - Kelce - Herbig - Pryor (Toth for 10 snaps, replacing Mailata)

WASH:  Toth - Seumalo - Kelce - Herbig - Pryor (WR by snaps:  Ward, JJAW, Watkins, Fulgham, Reagor)

With that lineup against a top defense, what chance did Hurts have in the last game?

It may all work out. If Hurts becomes a star, then many of us will indeed eat crow.

If it doesn't work out, then Roseman will still be here, and that's what most are complaining about.

I mean, what the fan did is inexcusable. There really is no reason to be doing that to another person, and I guarantee if he had to actually face Westbrook he wouldn't do anything of the sort.

But I did notice the bolded as well. He didn't seem all too hurt when he was jumping around angrily.

Take your own advice.  Google Restricted Free Agents.  Your facts are wrong.   Restricted free agents are just free agents with 3 years, not 4 years of accrued service, and the team they played for makes them a 'tender', of whatever amount they choose... and based on the tender, their original team gets the right of first refusal... or receives the draft pick compensation from the team that signs him.   But, they can be signed for ANY amount of money that the two sides agree to, not the league minimum.  They can and many do, but it is not a requirement.

I won't get into the rest of this with you, because you're too self-assured in your knowledge that is clearly wrong, and unwilling to converse respectfully.   Good day to you.

I don't think Howie can contain himself with holding onto those picks heading into the draft.  If the Eagles are a. 500 team or better by the trade deadline he is for sure going to spend one of those firsts to bring in a big name player at the trade deadline.

That's interesting.  I keep going back to the punt return against the Packers and how strange it was that he didn't look really quick or fast despite no one catching him.  He looked heavy IMO.  He looked much more joystick quick at TCU than what he showed his rookie year.  Looks like he was 205ish heading in to last year.   Dropping 10-15 pounds is a big deal even if it is muscle.

Yes.  He shouldn't be in the position due to his failures of the past.  Doug was held accountable, Howie was not.

Not sure what 'good' he did.  He kicked the can down the road some more with Alshon, Malik, etc.   That doesn't take a genius.   He just borrowed money from the future to pay for his past mistakes.  And he was forced to shop the bottom of the barrel to fill in the many holes that exist on this team.   Exactly where is the 'good' that he did?

Because of what he did.  It's not that he wants to sit out free agency and bottom feed... it's that he has to.  He has no other choice.

I’ll eat crow about Hurts.  But don’t give credit to Howie for Hurts turning himself into a good player.   It was still a reach and a ridiculous move given the contract they had just given Wentz.

Hurts can't be given to Howie... he has already scape-goated Doug for that.  So, if Hurts was a good pick, then the credit goes to Doug.

Watching the game with my 11-year old nephew wearing his red Joel Embid jersey.  He love the Sixers but doesn't get to watch many games.  How come the Sixers have houses on their uniforms?  They look dumb.  Why do the Wizards have on grey when they are red white and blue?  Poor kid.  Hard to create brands anymore when you have so many options and changes.

The problem I have isn't the fact that they cut LJ Fort.  The problem I have is they brought a LB in who showed signs of success and potential in a 3-4 defense over to a 4-3 defense and couldn't figure out how to get him on the field so they cut him.  He wasn't bad here, the Eagles didn't know how to use him.  He then signs with a new team and immediately has success in a 3-4 defense.   If LJ Fort played in a 4-3 before the Eagles signed him and then he came here and stunk, then signed somewhere else and continued to stink that's one thing.  However, we know that's not the case.

So yes, cutting a player who hasn't played a down and then getting a 4th round comp pick sounds great and all but when you look at the big picture it's one of the frustrating things over the past 4 years on how this team is being built.

Not only does this team not value linebacker, when they do bring linebackers in they are bringing in guys who are playing out of position.

I've posted this before but of the 10 LB on the team, 5 of them are "learning" how to play linebacker and this is coming off the heels of Nate Gerry.

AF is going to tell me that Genard Avery tests really well to be a MLB.,  If that's the case why didn't he play MLB from the get go?  Why are the Eagles not using him as MLB?  He, along with Patrick Johnson and Joe Ostman (both DE's) are now practicing as stand up pass rush OLBs.

Davion Taylor is fast.  Great.  He's not an NFL linebacker.

JaCoby Stevens was a good safety at LSU but too slow for the new breed of NFL safety.  I love gambling on guys from the SEC, especially the top dogs in the SEC but to if we think Stevens is going to come in and be an impact player we are mistaken.

Joe Bachie isn't LJ Fort, that wasn't the point I was making when I initially posted he was claimed and I'm not complaining just for the sake of it.  The issue is the Eagles process of evaluating and valuing linebacker. This is ongoing and it doesn't seem to be changing.  The Eagles don't seem to be learning.

Odds are, Bachie is a practice squad player and that's it.  But the fact that there were teams lined up to claim him tells me there's something with him.  If we cut Shaun Bradley today, he clears waivers.  Same with TJ Edwards.  If we Avery, he might get claimed...as a DE.  I've been an Ostman supporter for years but the fact of the matter is, he's been cut how many times now and he was never claimed.

We are going down the same path at CB now too.  Keep patching the holes with UDFA and slot corners.  Minimal effort to fix areas of weakness.

Fort wasn't good or bad here, he was nothing because he didn't play. Maybe the coaches saw something bad in practice that made him a bad fit? Maybe the coaches just were bad at evaluating what he could bring to the defense? Who knows. Point is that whole debacle falls on the coaches, and is something Howie shouldn't get heat for.

lol   Just show him what it looks like lit up.  It is beautiful, but there's no reason for it to be the silhouette on the jersey.   No reason for the copious numbers of jerseys for that matter... except that people will buy them.  If people didn't have to go out and buy each version of jersey that the teams wear, they'd likely go back to simple home and away only.   I much prefer that, and it makes each era and franchise far more iconic.

I was wrong? You admitted that RFAs almost never cost a lot of money, which was the point of you entire post - that the team would have to spend a lot of money signing free agents because they had so few players under contract. So not only did failing to include RFAs, which include Herbig, Edwards, Fulgham, Scott, Ward and Singleton, ruin your narrative, you also didn't include exclusive rights free agents or draft picks from this year or last year.

Face it, your post was garbage. You looked at overthecap and freaked out, and I had to explain to you why you were completely wrong. Take the loss like a man.

I got you @Iggles_Phan.

Fact, Eagles currently have 20.6 million in 2022 cap space, if the NFL sets the cap at the 208 million ceiling.

Then you deduct the rookies this year, if they all make the team, 20.6 million minus 13 million is 7 million.

That 7 million is with 49 players under contract.  They will get some money back with Ertz being traded ( maybe )

You then have to figure in if they get a 1 from the Colts, and use all three first round picks, it is over 10 million just to sign the 3 first rounders in 2022.

Again, you need to google restricted free agents. They make the league minimum.

This is also false.

  • First-round tender: The greater of $4.766 million or 110 percent of the player’s 2020 salary. If the offer sheet is not matched, the original team receives the new team’s first-round selection in the upcoming draft.
  • Second-round tender: The greater of $3.384 million or 110 percent of the player’s 2020 salary. If the offer sheet is not matched, the original team receives the new team’s second-round selection in the upcoming draft.
  • Original-round tender: The greater of $2.33 million or 110 percent of the player’s 2020 salary. If the offer sheet is not matched, the original team receives a draft pick equivalent to where the player was originally selected.
  • Right of first refusal tender: $2.33 million. If the original team declines to match the offer sheet, then there is no draft pick compensation in association.

19th.  14 teams have at least double what we have.

This is correct.

Then you deduct the rookies this year, if they all make the team, 20.6 million minus 13 million is 7 million.

This is where your math goes awry. They will spend the money for the draft picks, but they will also subtract money from guys who won't make the 53. You are counting only the signings, not the money they will save from the players who will get cut.

That 7 million is with 49 players under contract.  They will get some money back with Ertz being traded ( maybe )

Again, your math is off. It will be closer to double this amount.

You then have to figure in if they get a 1 from the Colts, and use all three first round picks, it is over 10 million just to sign the 3 first rounders in 2022.

If I used your math, I could show that 20 teams are the in the same or worse situations than the Eagles. But the reality is that your math is way off and you are failing to account for obvious moves the team is going to make with vet salaries prior to next year. Basically, you are chicken little. You are claiming that the Eagles have screwed up the cap, when they are out signing free agents this year, and are going to be out signing free agents next year, regardless of what nonsense you are spouting right now.

Fort was up and coming with Pittsburgh (a team that has tremendous success with LB) then comes here and he can't get on the field so he gets cut.  Fort then signs with the Ravens (another team with tremendous success with LB) and becomes a starting LB earning himself a contract extension.

The Eagles coaches deserve tons of blame but Howie deserves just as much heat.  Is he just signing guys who don't fit here?  Is he drafting guys he wants and not the coaches?  That seems to be an ongoing problem with Howie.

Maybe Gannon and his crew can turn trash in to treasure with the current group of LB.  Wilson and Singleton should be decent starters but I don't view them as long term solutions.
