Depends really on the cost for a guy like Watson and Hurts. I mean if Hurts isn’t the guy and we can land a franchise QB of Watson caliber who is 26(next offseason assuming he is cleared of everything) and get him for say Colts pick and a 2023 pick I’d rather do that then gamble on a trade up on a QB in the draft.

in this scenario still have two first in 2022 draft plus the rest of the draft and even if we give up a 2023 first would still have 2nd-7th picks and that isn’t including what we will likely gain before the draft even happens.

Watson is talented, yes! What about him pissing off another therapist if he rubs his mickey up against them? Then suspended and our team paying for nothing?

This is assuming his guilt which I won’t do if he is guilty it will come out.  But Watson won’t be moved until everything is dealt with on his legal front.

So if we were to trade for Watson he will be able to play.

Even with the risk he gets suspended no different from the risk of giving up picks for a drafted player can’t guarantee they don’t get in trouble or can even play at the highest level.

When we look at the Eagles QB situation…

Best scenario- Hurts is the guy he does enough to show he is the QB of the future no need to trade for a QB.

2nd best scenario- We have a top pick and can draft our QB without trading

3rd- We in the middle of the pack somewhere unsure of Hurts would cost multiple picks to move up for a QB or trade for a QB(Watson).

In 3rd place situation I’d have to think given up multiple picks for the proven QB is better then the unsure rookie.
We could also keep the unsure of Hurts but not sure Howie/Lurie would go that route if they still aren’t sold on Hurts after a full season.

I hope he's innocent. Hopefully he has sincerely talked to others pleading his innocence...…like to the teams that have interest in him.

Complete BS. The government and now the private sector is taking away our freedom of choice. Unbelievable. Covid isnt going away and it is NOT a death sentence. We HAVE to live our lives. I hope those two coaches sue the crap out of the NFL…and WIN!

Rumors about Watson. Doesn’t even matter right now, does it? Lots of issues to unravel around that deal before he ever plays a down again. Why would the Texans trade him when his value is so low?

I am the biggest Eagles fan west of the Mississippi. I don't really care about any other team in any other sport. I wear Eagle’s clothing anytime I'm not at work. I even wear an Eagles tie to church every Sunday. And I have never been so discouraged PRIOR to a season than I am now. I see this team winning four games AT BEST. Besides the DL and Slay, this defense is going to get lit up. And if the OL doesn’t stay healthy yet again, this team will get blown out every Sunday.

We traded Wentz for a second round pick …at his low.

His value isn’t going to get higher will only get worse if he doesn’t play a whole year which seems likely even after everything is settled up on the legal side

Niners gave up three first round picks for Trey Lance. They were at twelve to start with. Watson is a proven star. Lance is as green as it gets. I’d feel much better about getting Watson for that price than the huge risk involved with such an unknown rookie.

Steven Nelson signed. Nice to get the deal done before training camp.

I’m sure you like that move. Four mil one year deal feels like good value.

I like it. He fits the defense and the price is right. Every free agent signing this year has made sense to me, which hasn't always been the case in years past. Plus if someone shines in camp, they can play the slot, so it's not like he will be taking snaps away from a promising young player.

This changes a lot I think. At this point this defense should be expected to produce. This defense has the talent to be a very good defense. The secondary is much improved now. The LBs are improved and DE was upgraded with Kerrigan. If Gannon is as good as many in the NFL think he will be then this defense could be really really good.

Nelson and Slay are Man corners. Does that change anybodies expectations for the defense we’ll play?

Not really read quite a few different things on Gannon seems like a versatile guy who is willing to give many different looks for what’s best for the D on any given week

"the Colts ran something called a cover 3 match concept, which utilizes zone and man coverage on the same play.

Essentially, the two main aspects of this defense that need to be understood is that 1). whenever a receiver is streaking deep, either down the seam or right up the sideline, the corner or slot corner will carry him and 2). this defense is designed to take away to deep shot and force an offense to dink and dunk.”

I’ve read a few articles talking about this blend of coverage in regards to Gannon so kinda what I’ve been expecting. But guess we shall find out soon enough what we will really look like.

The #Texans are now willing to listen — and have been for some time — to trade offers for star QB Deshaun Watson, multiple sources tell me and @RapSheet. But the price is high for a player of his caliber, and should be. It’d likely take at least three first-round picks and more.

Just to steep for the unknown that is revolving around Watson right now.  Can’t say I’d want to pay it next offseason either if he doesn’t play this season(which is possible) even if he is at Texans camp now.

I also remember him saying he’d fit the defense to the personnel. For us I’d think Bump and Run In Your Face Man would be the bread and buttter. Basically the opposite of what you’re saying. Disrupt the early timing and let the pass rush get hold. Let the S mostly cover the deep.
Obviously you gotta switch up play calls and such. We have the personnel to straight Match up on everybody. Even brought in a LB coverage specialist. Being able to competently match up in Man makes disguising everything else all the easier.

I stated I thought the starting price to be two firsts and two seconds.

Seen one trade scenario that said Hurts, Ertz, Cox and two 1sts for Watson….

The players packaged wouldn’t surprise me free up cap get younger but also two first mmmm. Maybe swing it for a 1st and 2nd(2023 maybe conditional it like Wentz if Watson plays and we make the playoffs it becomes a 1st).
