Pretty sure I saw him immediately turn his back to Tyreek Hill after about 3 steps for no reason, and then Hill cuts the opposite way than he turned.....wide open TD.  No idea what he was doing...I think that was Hills 2nd TD

When a guy is much faster than you, that's what you have to do. It was a mismatch and he had no chance.

As for Facebook.  There is a reason why I never understand why people give so much of their personal information over to them and install there app. It's rich pickings for hackers

It's only the 1st quarter but Chargers defense looks good

JFC.  I’m tired of losing fantasy players to injury.  Started the NFL week by losing Chark.  Now I lost Barber.  Not that he was going to replicate his week last week.  But I needed all the points I could get.

Sounds like you could use a trade my good man.

I actually think they might be the best team in the afc at the moment alongside the bills. The Chargers biggest issues the previous couple years is their defense would always get hurt and Anthony Lynn was not a good head coach. Staley seems to be a good coach with the pieces they have on defense and their offense is in good hands with herbert and those weapons.

Great tackle by Hunter Renfrow.  Better than most defenders.

Raiders can't do anything on offense

That ST player saved a TD though

Taking the check down was an improvement from last season. He made a positive play.  That does show improvement.  I think the question is whether he can ever be the type of QB that executes the more difficult throw but has a better result.   Where do you think Mahomes, Watson, Rodgers or Brady would have thrown the ball? I think that's what we have to look at when we analyze his play.  I don't know that Hurts will ever progress to being able to make that downfield throw to Watkins.

Are you trying to act like Hurts doesn't take shots down the field?

You people are so thirsty to hate on Hurts, you've been waiting all summer to do it and it has you desperate to try to attack him over a player where he made a good play to pickup the first down on 3rd down.

I get that some people don't like Hurts' style of playing QB... and I get that some people have already made up there minds about him based on "a feel" and their "football sense"...  and it may well turn out to be the case...

But to say "the problem has always been consistency with him" strikes me as absurd... he's started EIGHT games in the NFL...  that's not much of an "always"...  nearly all young QBs would be inconsistent over that time frame...

I thought that Hurts, and the offense in general, played what I would call "a game to build on" yesterday...  that's what we should be looking for this year...  building on something...  because if we don't, we'll be in QB hell for a while yet to come...  that'll be fun...

I’m not talking about just playing well. Theirs inconsistencies in his game that go back to college. Decision making, pocket presence, recognition, not dropping his eyes at first signs of pressure etc. Yes, rookies also display some inconsistency, but not to the level of Hurts.

Yesterday wasn't too far off from the ideal scenario this season.

Hurts continues to develop and eventually demonstrates he's The Guy.  Sirianni hones the offensive scheme and moves far down the game management learning curve.  Smith, Reagor, Watkins, Gainwell, Mailata, Dickerson all show to be the future of the offense.

...and the defense continues to suffer from a lack of talent, so we end up losing every game 40 - 34.

Our first rounder is very early and we have clarity of what to spend it on.

I would like to see scripting of plays to start the game...planned and practiced ahead of time to hopefully improve execution and reduce penalties

Chargers defense looks really good tonight

Thank you. For example, the organization needs to stop with the "Hybrid" crap at LB that has been the trend in HS football and recognize that pro football still needs beef. The D would look entirely different if they had a couple LBs who could stop a runner at the point of attack. Ugh.

You need LBs that can read the play, run  and tackle.  The problem isn’t size. It’s they don’t have anyone that’s capable of all three.  The only one who’s arguably undersized is Singleton.  He’s 6’2” and 240 which is bigger than either Kendricks

Staley was an excellent DC with the Rams. The chargers have always had good defensive pieces. They just never stayed healthy.

Chargers receivers look so much bigger than Raiders DBs lol

Oh that was a TE lol

Herbert is gonna be good.

Pretty much. Unless we trade for Watson/Wilson, might as well roll with Hurts/Minshew into 2022 and let the young players, including our 3 2022 first rounders, develop.

Then beg, borrow, or steal a QB in 2023.

This is my thinking as well. I want to trade back the way we did this year. Roughly around 7 back  to 11-13 and pick up a extra 2nd and 3rd day pick.
If we are lucky and are picking again around say 10 from the dolphins pick, trade back again 5 spots or so and pick up another day two pick. That would give us two picks between 10-20 plus 4 second rounders which would include the Colts pick. That's a good start to give this defense a jolt and we'd have tremendous flexibility with moving up, back, whatever we wanted. If we get a first for that Colts pick i'd try to cash one of them in for a 2023 first rounder.

Wow lol nice challenge

He is. He also was given some great talent. It’s nice to have herbert, Allen, Williams, ekeler, Darwin James, Joey bosa, adderley, Kenneth murray and Harris to walk into. Plus they drafted Samuel and slater. Both are good starters as rookies.

biggest issues the Chargers have had the past couple years is staying healthy and Anthony Lynn being awful

Hilarious since you’ve been slobbering all over him for no apparent reason. He had a decent game yesterday.  The entire game plan was catered to his strengths and it worked against a terrible defense, and he still missed wide open weapons more than once for TDs.

I just witnessed Herbert make multiple plays in 1 drive that Hurts does not have to talent or the cognitive ability to make.  He won’t "learn” how to make those plays.  The tight spiral on a rope to Mike Williams followed by his ability to go through multiple progressions and bait safeties with his eyes. Hurts can’t do that, and he’s not going to learn how to do that.  By his 2nd progression, he’s frantically running around with his head down.  But please send us all more stats about how those stats compare with other stats.
