Great idea. Who's the playmaker in the back seven?

You are very correct. They have no playmaker in the back 7.  But in so stating this, you throw your guy under the bus though.  The complete and total lack of talent in the back 7 is due to Howie not adding the right pieces.  DBs: Sydney Jones, Rasul Douglas, K'Von Wallace, Avonte Maddox... Traded for Ronald Darby.   go back further... Eric Rowe.   At LB only drafted Davion Taylor on Day 1.  Shaun Bradley is another.    Maybe if they didn't have to keep dipping into the WR pool in the early rounds to make up for failed picks, they'd be able to find some more picks to use on the back 7... or maybe if they added the right pieces in the draft in the back 7, it wouldn't be a complete wasteland.

They should have decent CBs given their draft investment at that position, but were forced to sign/trade for CBs from elsewhere.  They should have money to sign a LB or two if needed, if they weren't paying too much for a bunch of busted up veterans that should have been prepared to be cycled out with new players.

The talent issues fall all on Howie and poor drafting, bad contracts.  I know, you will claim that they had to 'take a shot' while they could... but the truth is that it isn't an all or nothing type of proposition.  Some of the players they did sign were older, more injury prone and less productive than those that they chose to pass on.  The trade for Golden Tate stands as a shining example of a complete waste.  He added nothing new to the offense, but yet another slot WR.  But, had they been willing to trade for a true deep threat (No, not Desean, but Robby Anderson), they would have had better success, cost less money, and had a younger WR on the roster than they ended up with.  Yes, the reports were it would have cost a 2nd round pick.  Which means we miss out on.... wait for it....   JJAW!

This all boils down to a result of failed decisions by the front office, aka Howie Roseman.  Each decision by itself isn't necessarily a bad one.  BUT, when nearly every decision is bad... this is where you end up.  Coming off a 4-12 season, huge dead cap hits on your roster for players that didn't offer you much production even when they were on the roster in recent years, and still cost you now that they are gone, and will continue to cost you into the future.  It isn't all bad luck.  When the only defense is 'bad luck', the reality is that it's bad management.

Nah.  If it were, people who know wouldn't be keeping it quiet.  Spadaro seemed to know on Sunday.  McLane seems to know.  If it was PEDs, the story would be out and they'd be reporting that he is fighting it, etc.   This is something else... and since it has been so hush hush, I'm sticking with the 'personal' piece.  I hope everything is ok with him and his family.

I suspect you are right. He has three kids and a wife. Plus parents and in laws.  iIRC his father in law was an NFL player and mentored him some.

I trust John Clark.

He'll see him in the airport, Clark is notorious for airport reports and interviews.

I don't think Lane is there today. I missed the question but Nick said he's not here today. I'm assuming it was about Lane as that's the big "news" now

One thing about Jaylen Smith is that he's apparently a class act and great guy.  I have no issue bringing that in to the locker room.

I say that not knowing if he did something that caused his release or if it was purely because of performance vs. contract and LB depth they have.

Could be a possibility when their Dline starts getting healthy again they didn't want to have to put Parsons back on the bench

Everything I heard about him is since he got paid is he's become a clown and cares more about his "brand" than anything else.

I have yet to see this really come up at all in anything real world.  Frankly, I just DGAF what people want to be called.

That's a myth you have to show up for those.

Perspective:

If you really only want to call 3 a game, and you call 7, then to you it is a lot.

I'm seeing it more and more with my LinkedIn contacts and I had my first introduction to a woman who said "my name is Marie and I go by She/Her"  I had no idea how to respond.  I said OK.

Also, not quite the pronoun thing but the CDC has new guidelines on how to address all sorts of people.

If he's not hurt, then this is not good Eagle fans.

I defer to what I was taught in school, deferring to the science. There are 2 biological sexes, Male and Female defined by their chromosones as XX and XY. And we have terms in the english language to address people accordingly, He/She/ They/Them/ Him/Her, His / Hers etc....

That doesn't mean I dont feel empathetic or sympathetic for those whose internal thought processes dont match their biological birth sex. I do, I have compassion for them. It can not be easy. I just dont believe we should change the reality of facts, I would rather we deal with the reality as it is, and be compassionate to their issues that way.  Bending the science to save feelings waters down the scientific process itself, and makes it fiction.

I tend to just let people be who they are.  But I struggle to understand why everyone has to have a label, whether political, social, caste, race, religion, or sexuality. Kind of defeats individualism.  We kind of rebelled against such stereotyping in the sixties.  Now if you undertake some adoption of what is perceived as outside your classification, you are misappropriating someone else’s culture.  Classifying and segregating aren’t the way to enlightenment.

He's not playing another game at the college level.

Caleb Farley had great college film too.  Granted he had multiple injuries and the whole weird surgery timeline.

Hurts changing them to pass plays maybe?  Does he want to inflate his passing numbers...

In the end, his draft slot will be determined by whether he works out at The Combine, Pro Day, and official visits pre-draft.  He has almost a full 5 months to heal before the Combine takes place.  I wouldn't be surprised if he skips the Combine, works out at his Pro Day, and runs drills at official visits with teams.  He really doesn't need to do any more than that.

I think Nick Bosa's pre-draft set a precedent for some of these college athletes.

Lol, this whole speculation is ridiculous. It's a great example of Occam's razor. It's nearly certain a family issue/illness that he had to go deal with.
