That was a sad story. I’m not sure what the hotel could have done to help her, but it would be nice to think that at least one person would try. The new owners plan to make half the hotel low income housing, and the other half a luxury hotel, sounds like a winner. I wonder why no one’s thought about putting a luxury hotel on skid row before.

Add that to the list of reasons 2020 sucks!

  • Don’t Look Up was hilarious!   that’s EXACTLY how something like that would go down.  They nailed it.   ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Would Recommend to a friend!!!

  • You're drunk - the lack of Yennefer being naked at all immediately makes your claim invalid

yep, imagine being a naive early 20 something booking a flight to LA for the first time and ya see this supposed luxury hotel for a good price. What a horrible, sleezy situation, renovating 1/8 of your building and leaving the rest of it to crap, essentially. Heres the nice floors for the tourists... if you see any rapists or murderers in the elevator on your way down to the lobby just don't make eye contact.

Evil Genius is another one. Short but interesting.  Also the Staircase.

Yeah this was another one where it referenced a moment in the news that I sorta heard about (especially having taken place in bumbleF PA maybe), but have since forgotten (pizza delivery guy gets exploded on camera, or whatever the case was). Seeing the full story behind these crazy moments that have popped up in the news is just an awesome formula for these docuseries.

Behind her eyes- good

Well,  didn't really like the direction it went at the end,  but seems pretty original at least.

The Sinner -Jamie  freaky.  I liked it.

Will try Behind her Eyes, saw that come up in the trending the other day.

For some reason, I decided to watch the 2nd episode, and, you know what?  It's actually gotten funnier.  I'm about 5 episodes in now, and, it's not The Office, but I've seen far worse.  The laugh track is annoying, but the characters are likeable enough, and the new team owner looks really good in tight clothing.

Last post on season 1 of The Crew.  Wound up enjoying it.  Being a traditional sitcom, it seems more suited to network TV, which it was probably originally made for, but being able to binge it was fine too.  Again, it's not The Office, or Parks and Rec, but it had some genuinely funny moments, and the season ended with a couple of storylines that makes me hope they pick it up for another season.  I'd be willing to be the most fans of NASCAR, looking right at you @BFit , will like it as muck as I did.

I wish it had more nascar, and I wish the driver wasn't dumber than eaglesva, but all in all it was pretty good

does this seem to have potential?

I thought that movie is for HBO Max?

I don't know.  Looks like it says Netflix

I Care A lot - It was OK. Not bad, but nothing too special. Got more and more ridiculous as it went, and dragged on too long. I was glad that

she got got at the end.

Watching "Haunted". My BS detector goes off when they claim to be "true stories" on some of these, but it doesn't really matter. It's entertaining and the dramatizations use good horror movie making techniques.

Finished up Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan. I thought it was pretty good background on that era of Japan and would recommend if interested in that time period.

Has anyone read any books on that period they would recommend?

Agreed. The first half was really interesting then right after the halfway point it started becoming nonsensical. The ending besides what you mentioned was just awful.

Too lazy to research if this was already discussed, but The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel doc I thought was a lot of fun, and in a weird way felt like a part two to "Don't F with Cats."

a huge part of DFwC was the role the online community played in hunting the suspect/killer down and helping the police along the way catch this guy. It really showed how much power the everyday online message board person can have in these scenarios. But with this Cecil Hotel doc, it showed the downside to that, and how the online sleuths getting too deep ended up ruining a suspects life on top of just making a mountain out of a mole hill, with the ultimate resolution of death being

(don't click this if you intend on watching, as it discusses the cause of death of the victim)

that the girl simply was out of her mind, being that she was bipolar and off her meds, which lead her to the place where she ultimately drowned. So no conspiracy, no kidnapping or haunting, just a girl who wasn't taking her medicine and it got her killed. And the online community wanted it to be so much more than that and ended up harassing innocent people along the way. I just felt like the message/takeaway was not everything is going to be a DFwC conspiracy, and let law enforcement do their jobs.

i didn't care for this one.  too much bs even though the actual cause/reason wasn't much of a mystery.  3 eps of bs conspiracies' & internet weirdos making sheet up.

Spoiler

then they wait until the last ep to reveal that she was off her meds & acting very strangely in the days leading up to her death.

felt like bait & switch bs. :nonono:

Seems like Mindhunter might not be completely dead and buried yet after all

Fincher is hoping that an indefinite hiatus might reignite his passion for the material and says he’d like the series to end with the FBI taking Dennis Rader, the real-life BTK Stranger played by Sonny Valicenti, into custody.

"At some point I’d love to revisit it,” says Fincher. "The hope was to get all the way up to the late 90’s, early 2000’s, hopefully get all the way up to people knocking on the door at Dennis Rader’s house.”

Finished through part 4 of Money Heist.  Holy Hell did that show get awesome.  I mean, the dialogue is still cringeworthy bad, and the voiceovers are annoying, but it kept getting better as it went to the point that it was fantastic by the end.  The beginning of Part 4 was a little slow, but the last 3 episodes were so intense that they more than made up for it.

The Staircase - We've been on a documentary binge, and this one is kind of old, so you all have probably seen it, but, IMHO, this one is among the gold standards of true crime documentaries.  At 13 episodes it's longer than most, but if this show doesn't scare the hell out of you by demonstrating what corruption within our judicial system is capable of, then nothing will.  I'm not even 100% convinced that Peterson is innocent, but I do know that the actions of the Durham DA's office and medical examiners was criminal, and many of them should been the ones in prison.

Murder Among the Mormons - I’d like to have some of Mark Hoffman’s work. I’ll bet, even knowing what it is, that ish could be worth some serious money someday.

Coven of Sisters was interesting

Wasn't sure which way they were going to go

Spoiler

Not a fan of the ambiguous ending though. Don't like when movies/shows have these type of endings that leave it to the viewers to decide what happened

Would you recommend this docuseries?  I got through 1/2 of the first episode and stopped.  I thought it was pretty interesting, and I learned a ton about Mormons, but it didn't really hold my interest like all the other Netflix docuseries did.

I probably would. It’s only 3 eps, so it’s not a huge commitment. I thought it was a pretty interesting story.

Tonight’s doc, Long Shot.  Short, 1 episode, 40 minutes, incredible story. Absolutely amazing coincidences that save a poor guys life. Definitely check this one out.
