Settle down, I like Strong but he's a back foot thrower because of the injuries.  His arm/brain/everything but legs are better than Hurts but he needs to see an NFL field before I proclaim he's that much better.

The good thing is he mentioned the not driving  issue because of his injury was getting better. We will see. He has work to do, but if it wasn't for that leg he would have probably been the first QB taken this draft. If it's really  getting better he has the potential to do what HE mentioned. If not then at least we have something to be excited about until Hurts is gone.

Well, the Hurts humpers and I now have something in common in that we both want Minshew off the roster.

The issue is we don't have a QB...at least one the FO will let Siri start.

I think their theory is they want to have all the weapons and oline in place so when they get that quarterback that he has the best chance to succeed.

The two major issues are can they get that quarterback if Jalen hurts is what a lot think. I think it’s gonna be super hard because I think the Seahawks are gonna be real bad next year so likely top 3 and have capital to get someone like stroud in a trade. I also think a team like lions likely as top 3 too with capital. So you might not be able to get the quarterback you ultimately want next year either. another problem if you do get that quarterback you are not likely able to fix all the issues you have on defense yet again. And a lot wanted to fix the defense this off-season and not give up the capital to get the QB. That’s not not changing next year with how the secondary looks and losing guys like Graham, Cox, hargrave, Barnett while still having to fix the secondary and need a guy to groom for life after slay.

If he looks good in the mini camps I bet they move him after the last one before camp in August.

Only way is if JW goes down for the Saints. Hurts will lose against good teams and do just enough against the bad to have them around where they picked this year.

I don‘t. I like Minshew. Just would be for it because a) I think he wants out and b) I hope for compensation.

Without a or b I‘d rather he stays. Highly doubt undrafted Strong is any type of competition for him.

couple 60 yard throws

Did anyone realize that Barrett Brooks was the color guy for K-State?  He sounded competent in the highlights I've watched.

no one is running it up the middle on the goal line.

They don't have to.  They can just throw it in from 40.

Clearly the best arm currently on the roster

I will not settle down.  How am I supposed to do that? We are in the Strong_Era now!

I think it was a pretty easy sales job for Howie and Nick to bring Strong in as UDFA.  It’s pretty unlikely either Hurts or Minshew will be on the Eagles roster for 2023.  Strong can come in, learn the offense, he will get plenty of game action and throws in the preseason — since Hurts doesn’t play preseason games for some reason.  Work hard, rehab the knee, get his mechanics back on point.  I don’t see trading Minshew this season because I can’t see having to count on an UDFA to win games if/when Hurts gets injured and misses time.

If Hurts is unable to keep the starting job after 2022 as most suspect, the Eagles will draft a QB in the 2023 draft and Strong would be the logical #2.  If the new starter isn’t ready to go Week 1 then Strong will have a chance to play with a year in the offense under his belt.

Easy sales job to get him, yes.  But also the easiest no-brainer for Howie’s QB factory.  He’s more than likely looking at Strong as an opportunity to get some positive NFL film out there on Strong and turn him into a future draft pick.  If things go well, he may even be able to get the extra 3rd rounder he spent on AJB back in a year or two.

I’m excited about Strong for a few reasons…

1.  Even though he’s unlikely to be in the Eagles long term plans, he’s currently the best arm on the roster

2.  Getting him as an UDFA is exceptional value and will likely return a decent pick if he puts up some decent film before any more health issues escalate

3. Probably the biggest reason for me is I’m just excited for Strong to get his opportunity.  He’s definitely a kid you can get behind and root for

What’s the deal with him and his injuries. Is he mr glass? Is that why he was undrafted?

Is Strong still capable of moving around in the pocket laterally or does his knee make him statue like?

Geoff Mosher on inside the birds says other teams had a lot of different injuries including back, on Dean, even possible surgery.

It's not a huge issue with the way the game is played anymore, but it's noteworthy that the Eagles will have to draft a RB next year.

It needn't be a very high pick.

Best information I've seen.

He's more mobile than he was at the start of the season.  He came back very early from the injury and was still rehabbing as the season went on.  He's about on Nick Foles' level of movement.

What is the significance of the Monday May 2 date for compensatory picks related to free agency?

How does this impact the Eagles pursuit of Honey Badger?

You may be right but this class is no evidence of that.  There were not really any white RB prospects this year.

Next year may have a few.

If the Eagles wanted Bijan it would likely need to be round 1.

It means other teams are waiting to sign him.  And if he was signing with us it could have been done already because we aren't getting any comp picks.

What is the definition of the start of a QB_Era?

I think it's the designation as starter / QB1. That's when the Era starts.

For example, Steve Young was drafted, but the 49ers were still in the Joe Montana Era.

Going through this, some things stand out

1) The depth on the OL is incredible for 2022. 2023 will lose 3 guys (Kelce, Seumalo, Herbig), so I could see more focus on OL next year, especially if Lane's play slips this year.
2) Kennedy Brooks is going to make the roster as #4 because there's no competition, he offers something different than the other 3 backs and he got a good guarantee. Ironically, he profiles as Wayne Gallman. https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/kennedy-brooks/ . That's a good outcome for RB #4 and a UDFA.
3) Reagor is not a lock to make the team if he's not a PR...but none of us want him returning anyway
4) We have a good top 7 on the DL, but there's no quality in terms of 8-10. This makes sense given how we want more 3-4 looks. There are more competent LBs who can rush the passer (Reddick, Johnson and to a lesser extent Dean) than we're used to. I put Williams at DE, because he's going to play a bunch of 5Tech IMO.
5) We have lots of DB depth, but no starters. If we sign a veteran DB, I hope there's limited guaranteed money because there are enough bodies to hopefully have one guy pop. The CB vs. WR battles in training camp are going to be fun.
6) Really wish we could have drafted a punter.
7) Get ready for us to draft RB, QB, CB and DL in 2023.
