Was out on a Head boat today and now day drinking, which I never do.  I hope I see the sunset.

Great way to get a headache.

I just watched it for the first time ever,  last night.

It was ok.

It was probably even cooler in the 80s.

It was. Gaddafi(sp?) was feeling frisky which I figured was the basis of the combat scenes.

That isn't a racial term.  That's to describe anyone that wastes money on stupid flashy expenses unnecessarily.

Let’s use it in a sentence:

The Eagles FO is hood rich for investing in WRs while Hurts is the qb.

I had a chuckle when it came out that Kelly McGillis is gay.

I was too scared to post this.  I don't think it would crack my top 50 for 80s movies.

Just generally boring plot wise and Maverick is a JAG

The best parts of the movie is making you and your drunk buddies wanting to sing "you’ve lost that loving feeling” for karaoke and the "Team America: World Police” sex scene spoof.

It certainly wasn’t an issue at the time. Nobody chuckled at her in Witness. What bothered me then, as it did also with Titanic, was that the women were too much woman for the man. Tom Cruise was a kid beside her, as was DeCaprio next to Kate Winslet. Leo grew up. Tom never did.

I'll take it a step further.

Tom Cruise sucks and so do most of his movies.

Tom Cruise is the male version of Sandra Bullock — both untalented and boring

Let me guess, you thought he actually fought back against an alien invasion and that's why you're a fan?

He felt a quiver in his shorts at the volley ball scene.

Yea I think for at the time it was probably better and it has the nostalgia factor. But on its own today, it’s meh

Agreed.  I just had a co-worker say it was his favorite movie ever. Same for my best friend.

I figured with the new one,  it was time to check it out.

I don't feel nearly the same way but I can see how it was probably awesome way back then,  and the nostalgia.

Are you younger than 40? I can see how someone who wasn't a kid or teen when it came out might think that.

I said this the other day but my caveat was his older stuff was good from like 80s to around 2005 he had a ton of good movies. From mid 2000s it’s literally just the same character every time in a different movie title. His best role for a couple years form 2006 to 2012 might have been les grossman

that said took my dad to see maverick. It was actually really really good.

The first time I saw Top Gun was from a illegal copy in South Korea. I loved the movie, even though it’s not realistic. And as the 8th Fighter Wing roof said "f you Russian” or something. It now probably says "welcome” (I can’t find the building on the googles..weird)

You aren’t wrong with that sentiment, but I think that’s the way it’s supposed to feel in Top Gun.  Not that it’s some deeply layered movie…

Tom Cruise is the greatest movie star in cinema history. He’s not the greatest actor, but greatest star. He does his own stunts, his movies are almost always entertaining and every scene he’s in is made better. He’s captivating and even in the crap movies he’s in at least he makes them fun at the very least. You notice the difference in scenes he’s not in and the ones he’s in with his movies. Significant drop off.

Tom Cruise full dedication to his craft and he’s still going all these years later. GOAT.
