Guessing they wanted him for the post game show

I've seen speculation that NBC Sports Philly may not be around for long in its present form. Maybe become streaming/subscription or something like that. [speculation]Maybe DG didn't want to sign onto a sinking ship.[/speculation]

2022 NFL season: Ranking top duos at 11 key position groups

Offensive tackles

Rank 1. Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson

The Eagles' bookends possess the size, length and athleticism to stymie elite pass rushers on the edges. Johnson (6-6, 325) is an ultra-athletic blocker with exceptional skills in the run or pass game. The 32-year-old veteran is a rarity as a mauler/brawler with nimble feet and quick hands. With the Eagles transitioning to a run-heavy offense behind a dynamic quarterback with outstanding running skills, Johnson will get a chance to showcase his diversified game. Mailata (6-8, 365) is an extra-large blocker with a strong punch and a nasty finish. As a former rugby standout with exceptional athleticism for his size, the 25-year-old fifth-year pro (who did not play in 2018 or '19) is a unicorn at the position with the potential to become a perennial all-star. Considering how well the veteran and youngster have meshed as a tandem on the edges, it is not a coincidence the Eagles have emerged as one of the premier rushing teams in the league.

THE NEXT TWO: 2) David Bakhtiari, LT and Elgton Jenkins, RT, Green Bay Packers; 3) Tristan Wirfs, RT and Donovan Smith, LT, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

So, anything this guy does is ****, right? An athlete helping black owned businesses is hard to critique, yet, the braintrust in TATE needs it for their daily "Let's make sure everyone knows that Hurst S*cks" circle jerk. It is as if you all believe in some fatalistic spell that needs daily attendance in order for Hurts to fail and be replaced ASAP. Frankly, it comes off as stupidly biased to critique an athlete doing a community action like this.

Screw Hurts. Yeah, I want him to show the epic failure he is as a starting QB as fast as possible. I'm not apologizing to you or anyone else for wanting that to happen so there is no room to give him another year. He'll beat up on some bad teams this year and his fanboys will be puffing out their chests until he gets it handed to him against good teams when it matters. Rational people have seen enough, so if you or anyone else doesn't like that too bad. He is the main reason a solid team won't have a chance to win this year.

Phillies had Vince Dimaggio for a brief time.  He shared some DNA with Joe Dimaggio.  From my understanding... Joe was pretty good.  Vince... not so much.  But... Vince did lead the league in ONE stat 6 times in his career.  Anyone care to take a guess?   No cheating now, you are on the honor system (including leading the majors THREE times in that category!)

That’s fits the Phillies, they don’t usually get the good side of the dna, Mike Maddux, not Greg, Jeremy Giambi, not Jason, Mark Leiter, not Al.  If Chase Utley had a brother named Run, he would of been a Philly.

Man there are a few head scratchers in there. Garrett/Clowney over Mack/Boss? Allen/Williams as the top WR duo in the league?

The WR one is way off for sure.  Williams and Allen belong in the top 3, but my original thought was Chase and Higgins with CIN at the top, and he doesn’t even have them top 3, nor does he have Jefferson and Thielen anywhere in there.

But, that’s Bucky for you

There’s no real exciting option out of any of the S imo. Epps I guess is the most because he has some kind of theoretical upside. Harris and Tartt are just whatever, both probably shouldn’t be back in a year.

Sucks for Wallace. Would suggest he is on his last chance.  Chachere offers more on STs. But if they do cut Wallace, they have no Ss under contract for 2023.  3/4s of apparent starting secondary signed for 2022.  Bandaids not fixes.

I like Williams/Allen but not at #1. Besides Cinci you've also got Godwin/Evans, Adams/Renfrow, and Hill/Waddle all worthy of consideration imo.

Smith/Brown

If you add in Goedert I think the Eagles receiving group is in the discussion. If you're just focusing on the top 2 receivers I think I'd have to see another step forward from Smith (which I think he's absolutely capable of) and health consistency out of Brown. Considering they're 23 and 26 years old though I think they could easily get there very quickly. Of the listed teams only Cinci's group is comparably young.

I think Tart is a starter really, he's better than both of these guys.

Smith broke the Eagles rookie record for yards last year as a WR.  Better receptions and yards than DJax.  Not sure why he is viewed as unproven. 64 receptions for 914 yards at 14.3 yards a catch is pretty damn good for a rookie.  8.8 yards per target on a 61.5% catch rate.  He just lacked support at the other WR positions. (Looking straight at underperforming JJAW and Reagor.  Like Quez but he’s green and really seems like the #3 WR.  Love the try in Ward but have always said as his biggest booster that he is a #4 or 5 WR.). Thus year Hurts has Smith and Brown as #1/2 WR. A definitely improved Quez at #3, Pascal, Ward and Reagor battling for #4/5 with any one of the #5 WRs exposed by Cain, Hightower and the group of UDFAs/street FAs as a threat.  Which brings me to "duo”. Duo at WR is a bit nonsense since the most yards/receptions don’t usually come from 11 personnel.

Really?  A box S against two interchangeable Ss that can play both high and low, box or weak or strong.  Frankly, that is Wallace’s issue. To slight for a true strong S, slow in reaction for either box or free.  Make or break TC for him.  I am a bit disappointed with 100 CBs that Vincent isn’t projecting for some S snaps.  Love Mayden’s athleticism but instincts just not quite there. I really hope the S positions are not a given but a true battle for best.

I'm not saying he's unproven. I love Smith. I love Brown too and think they're excellent compliments to each other. Sky is the limit as far as potential. But the article was about the best duos in the league. Again I think they very well could get there. But it's hard to put them above Adams/Renfrow, Waddle/Hill, Chase/Higgins, Godwin/Evans right now.

The worst thing that could happen to the Eagles this year is if Hurts plays well and leads them to a record of 15-2 or something like that and they go on to win the Super Bowl. It would set the franchise back for a decade because it would probably mean we would be stuck with Hurts for another ten years. We can’t have that.

Pretty good for team morale he’s already sold both QBs down the river before the season even gets underway.  Not saying he’s wrong, necessarily.  The Chickens are obviously passively tanking.

You must also dream in cartoon and crap rainbows to believe that could ever happen. What will happen is another mirage against bad teams and another ass kicking round 1 of the playoffs.
