You are thinking narrowly, and with an abundance of bias.  If you broaden your thinking you will see that there is an investment of limited resources argument that has nothing … NOTHING .. to do with Hurts personally or Hurts’ performance.  The trade off that has been described many, many times is whether it is fiscally wise to tie up $40 million to $50 million a year in a single player, thereby hamstringing your available cap to pay other players. The argument goes on to point at the haul of Draft resources that Seattle sent to Denver in exchange for Russell Wilson.

the Achilles Heel of that "trade Hurts” argument is the downside risk that the Front Office fails to replace Hurts with a comparably good QB.  But that risk is not a guarantee, only a probability that is less than 100% … how much less is subject to debate.

There is no chance that the Eagles are going to trade Hurts.  He is the franchise QB going forward.  QBs get paid a lot because they are the most important position in the game.  The Eagles have a great one who is also very young.  They have what every team in the league wants when they don't have one.  He's only going to continue to get better.

The Eagles don't have to give up a haul of draft resources to keep Hurts.  Counter to that as well is Seattle also wouldn't have traded Wilson if he wasn't demanding to be traded.

This blog is the home of a lot of delusion of people who can't accept that Hurts is the QB and he is going to be the QB here for quite awhile.  People discussing these out of the realm of reality scenarios where they move on from Hurts are just in full blown denial.

Who have we had recently that played well in the regular season but not play well in the playoffs?

Hurts played okay in the regular season and terrible in the post season last year

For coach of the year, it appears Sirianni is currently odds on favorite.

If Dan Campbell turns around the Lions who started 1-6 and makes the playoffs, he’ll be a strong contender.

Does Shanny enter the picture if they get the 2 seed? Down to his 3rd string QB and they just keep winning (though I don’t think they’re as good as they’ve looked)

Any other candidates? Maybe the dude in Miami but they’ve sputtered lately so I think he’s out of it

Most of the_________ of the Year awards are BS because it is such a team game but Coach of the Year may be the most ridiculous one. Clearly that is a conglomerated effort by a group of coaches.  Frankly, I don’t think Hurts improved to the level he is playing at without Nick and Shane figuring out how to call plays faster.  The running game is fueled by the dean of Stoutland University. If Nick gets credit for that or Gannon’s bend don’t break defense then he also has to take the hit for the early hiccups on STs, not just Clay.

Leads to 3 options, as I see it.

Pay Hurts... commit $40M-$50M.

Pay a different vet... Commit $20M?

Role with another rookie contract... and commit whatever the rookie cap number says, which would vary by round selected.

Texas is fond of frogs, horned frogs, and tadpoles.  It really isn’t any different than Chip or Bud, or Skip

Horned toads not frogs.  (Which are neither a frog or toad).  Knew several kids in the South growing up whose dads’ nickname for them in grade school was "Tadpole”.  Bubba was the most common.  Can’t recall any Skip, Chip or Bud.

Now now, there are some that have argued that paying Jalen Hurts 60 million/year is both possible and justified.

I'm not saying it is or it isn't.   I'm saying those are the three options.  (Although, I guess a 4th option is to trade for a different highly paid QB and commit both $ and draft capital to the new QB, like the Broncos just did.)

Yes but they’re fun to discuss. I think it’s Sirianni’s to lose, but we all remember Doug getting robbed by McVay in 2017.

Could happen again if Detroit wins out to make the playoffs

That's a terrible nickname and frankly more offensive than what Parsons said.

Honestly old school WWF was the best. During the pandemic when there was no sports on they’d have old ppv on tv. They were awesome

If you’re bored check out OSW on YouTube. They go thru each Hulk Hogan era PPV with a lot of great behind the scenes commentary. Wrestlers were really just carnies on roids
