I don’t disagree at all. But even so marsh is what he is. He isn’t suddenly now a yearly .320 hitter. He’s a mediocre defender that hits .260 ish on the year. He’s fine if he’s your third outfielder batting 7th-8th. Otherwise you’re just asking too much of him.

Don’t disagree. I don’t think marsh hits .320 the rest of the year. Frankly he’s a platoon LF imo. The issue is he and Stott are fine as 8 and 9 hitters. Stott’s defense warrants him being a 9 hole hitter. And even with his avg not being great he’s one of the few guys who actually sees a ton of pitches which they also miss. The issue is Castellanos and relamuto are on pace for 16 and 12 HRs. They aren’t 3-5 hitters. Either is Bohm. Frankly Castellanos should be a 6 hole hitter. Bohm a 7 hole hitter. With Marsh and Stott behind them.

They miss a RH power threat in the middle of the lineup. They have for the last 2.5 years and Dave continues to ignore it like guys will just step up. They badly need a guy like Suarez who’s a RH hitter that currently is on pace to hit 50ish HRs and over 130 RBI. If you had that between Harper and schwarber this lineup can survive much better

It’s a tough position to be in. You’re either believing the next wave of guys coming next up end of this year/beginning of next year will be good enough to get you over the hump or you have to trade them away to get good players. I’m not even sure what the right answer is.

Tbh I’d keep painted, miller. Everyone else open to dealing in the right deal. Can’t do a deal where you trade a kid like Crawford who’s a top 100 prospect for marsh who’s a platoon player. Like amaro gets a lot of crap but when he dealt top 100 prospects he got legitimately good players back. Dombrowski got a platoon OF

Yeah agree completely.

I wanted them to get teoscar in the offseason. Really just any right handed power hitting outfielder. But they’re hard to come by. Even when they had Rhys he was never good enough to be a 3-4 hitter on a championship team. Add on he was the worst first defensive baseman I’ve ever seen and just didn’t work.

I think if you have the chance to add a big time star right handed outfielder with control then sure you trade whoever, but they just aren’t available really.

Imo I don’t think they can fix this bullpen. You essentially need an entirely new bullpen outside Kerkering.

Romano has a 7.28 ERA and is toast

Ross has a 5.21 era

Walker has a near 5 era since going to the bullpen

Strahm has a 4.85 era since April 13th

Banks/Lazar might be your second and 3rd best arm in the bullpen right now.

Alavardo isn’t available for the playoffs.

There’s no way you can trade for 3 BP arms you need. Maybe you can get two. Really when Alvarado got suspended they should’ve just signed Robertson and hoped he could be useful and solved one arm to replace Alvarado then go looking for other arms. Even if you put Abel, Nola painter in the bullpen for the playoffs they’ve all never been relievers in that type of situation.

Issue to me is they keep looking for OFs to solve their issue. The issue gets solved if you start looking at 1b and 3b. Move Harper back to OF and have Bohm go to 1b if it’s a 3b you acquire.

They keep not wanting to move him back at some point in time when you can’t find good enough outfielders to solve the problem go look at another position. And just put Harper back in left field and it would solve most of your outfield problems. You can solve the problem that way. ***** Dave continues to not want to do that.

I think they’d take a 1b too, there just aren’t any of those either. 3b who was really a fit? Bregman maybe? They didn’t seem to want him for whatever reason. They’ve just been throwing darts hoping to add enough depth when they just don’t have the top tier hitting talent in the lineup required to make a serious run at it.

Suarez of the dbacks if they are out of it is going to be available as he’s a FA at the end of the year. A chance with their injuries they could be sellers anyways. RH and has serious pop. Bregman might actually be dealt cause been rumors Red Sox might just be sellers and he’s having a good year. If you take on the entirety of contract might not pay as much in terms of prospects. Gotta hope some teams drop out of it so more guys become available.

The issue is Dombrowski not doing his job in the offseason and just waiting til the deadline is stupid. The deadline has changed with the extra wild card keeping more teams in it so there’s less guys and higher price. Why you should go all in during offseason and if you need the deadline then Make a move. He works ass backwards cause he views the deadline like it used to be 7-8 years ago

Suarez is decent. And Yeah would love bregman but his contract is a joke he has an opt out every year which he will undoubtedly take after this year.

I love Harper, he took us from mikael Franco being our best player and a decade of brutal teams, to perennial playoff runs. But at this point you really can’t cater to him in any way if he has to move to the OF so be it.

Tbh i think Bregman you could get at a solid value for either he stays in the contract and you take it on or Red Sox lose him at the end of the year try to get value for him. Kind of think it likely includes Abel and likely someone like Tait. Frankly I’d take the chance cause if you don’t want to extend Stott (coming up soon to make a decision) then move him to second base or Turner to 2b. When miller comes up have him be SS and Bregman 3b or 2b with Turner in OF.

I really don’t think it’s Harper that doesn’t want to move back to the outfield. I am starting to think this is the Phillies and Dombrowski. Because listening to Dave’s interview the other week he prefers not to move him. Supposedly Harper was all about them signing Pete Alonso this offseason , and moving to the outfield. the Phillies just didn’t wanna pay Pete Alonso. Frankly if they can’t get Tucker this offseason (i think he stays in Chicago) they should consider Alonso as much as i hate that F

Max Kepler making $10 million:

.209/.300/.377/.677 (9 HRs and 28 RBI in 244 ABs)

Mickey Moniak making $1.25 million:

.234/.286/.478/.763 (11 HRs and 27 RBI in 201 ABs)

FFS. Call up Crawford already.

I doubt it but maybe

Ranger’s velocity is really down today. No pitches in the 1st reached 90 mph

Thru 2 innings he still has yet to reach 90 mph

has had 1 pitch reach 90 through 51 pitches.

65 pitches and just 1 at 90mph

Only crap we scored. Again why Kepler and Jt aren’t batting 8th and 9th when they are the two worst hitters is a mystery.

Watching this offense against good pitching is like pulling teeth out with pliers

Bohm strikes out and literally not one pitch was in the zone lol

What the hell was he shaking his head for? He knew what pitch was coming and he swung anyway. It’s his own damn fault lol

Sometimes i wish guys would forget to take a bat to the at bat cause it would help them

JFC relamuto needs to be hitting 8-9th the dude Fing sucks especially if marsh is hitting as well as he is.

Frankly stupid not to bunt with Stott and kemp coming up.

What makes the decision to allow Realmuto to swing away is the fact that Marsh is hitting over 300 for the last 2 months and they asked him to bunt the runner over. Meanwhile, Jt has been brutal on this road trip besides 1 game and yet they let him swing freely with runners at first and second with no out. Absolutely Fing dumb managing.

I’d add Stott is hitting .315 with RISP and kemp .357

Worrisome that Ranger is doing that stretchy side to side twist that he began doing last year when his velocity dropped off. Has 96 pitches today and only 2 were 90+

Look forward to the bullpen blowing this

2nd and 3rd no outs and failed to score a run. Surely this won’t come back to bite us

Gotta let Kerkering get the 6 out save cause everyone else is atrocious
