What I find funny about all this, is they won’t put him back in the outfield because they say it takes its toll on his body and he’ll have more injuries. Hes had a ton of injuries while at 1b. So might as well just let him play OF as he’s going to breakdown anyway.

Who knows once JT is gone next year he’ll be wanting to play catcher again lol

Have the really said that ? only people I hear say that are idiots that don't know the game

It's crazy that they have been without their MVP for 21 games

Their closer for 33 games

And their #2 starter for practically the whole year

Been a couple beat writers that put it out there as one of the reasons based on what they heard

4-Ranger

He wasn’t bad. I guess Comcrap is doing more cost cutting.

I’d like Garcia a lot more if his slashes weren’t awful the last two years. Ops under .700 last two years. Avg below .235 and OBP is under .300 last two years.

How much did that a-hole Dombrowski gift that guy to play here? Talk about a nice retirement package.

Can thank our GM for giving us a lineup that includes Kennedy and Rojas when we face LHP.

I think I am starting to hate Rojas more than Marsh

Because they don’t think Marsh and Kepler (frankly they don’t do it very well) can hit lefties good enough we are stuck with Rojas. This goes back to they have 2 platoon OFs and Rojas

The TRUE managers of the team does not give them enough bats to be able to hit left handers....... the team has been crying about Marsh since last June.... when I looked it up...... he had 50 AB'S against LHP at that time. Roughly 15 to 20 games.

They want instant results.... but don't want to do the work and the time to get there.

The last few years this team has had a ton of talent .... terribly misused and mismanaged

The fact he has only 50 ABs tells you why they aren’t using him more against LHP. It’s cause they don’t believe he’s an everyday player. It’s cause for his career he hits .217 in nearly 500 ABs. Heck if you combine his 2024 and 2025 ABs against LHP he’s 21-104 which is a .202 average. From 2023 til now he’s had 200 ABs. He’s hitting .215. So at this point they feel as though they’ve seen him enough to know he’s not gonna be able to hit left-handed. Pitching well enough. The issue is is that they don’t have anybody on their bench platoon him correctly. Ditto for Kepler who’s been bad against LHP pitching this year (in general really besides a week or two when he hits HRs)

We can blame Thomson, but Jayson stark has talked about this it goes all the way up to Dave Dombrowski and their analytics team when making these decisions with platoons. Dombrowski knew that the Phillies analytics team did not believe Brandon marsh was more than a platoon outfielder and decided that getting another left-handed hitter in Kepler was the way to go instead of a right handed bat which they have needed since Hoskins got hurt. Instead, they got another left-handed bat, which makes your lineup awful when you have to sit Kepler and Brandon marsh. And if you play them you are at a disadvantage as Kepler is old and closer to the end vs LHP and marsh has never consistently hit them besides his first season in the big leagues

Fact Kennedy is on this team is a joke. The fact he has started back to back games is laughable. Furthermore you’ve now stunted any chance Rojas would develop. They brought him up knowing he needed to play frequently so he could improve his swing and at bats. It’s why he realistically should’ve been in the minors developing. He wasn’t ready offensively at that time. Really he should’ve been in the minors working on his swing but the outfield was so bad in 2023 it forced their hand. One of the reasons I don’t think Crawford has been called up is because they saw what happened to Rojas. Crawford is more ready than Rojas yet down in triple A still. I think partial trade value but also partially if he’s not playing everyday he’s better off getting at bats everyday otherwise might not develop with his bat the way they thought like Rojas

The 2011 Phillies assembled the greatest rotation I've ever seen and were my personal all time #1 "what could have been" Philadelphia team. That rotation, in comparison to 2025, had bigger names with better career resumes...but it's interesting to look at the numbers.

ERA/WHIP

  1. Roy Halladay 2.35/1.040

  2. Cliff Lee 2.40/1.027

  3. Cole Hammels 2.79/0.986

  4. Roy Oswalt 3.69/1.338

  1. Zach Wheeler 2.61/0.914

  2. Jesus Luzardo 4.08/1.373

  3. Ranger Suarez 2.20/1.064

  4. Christopher Sanchez 2.87/1.186

They aren't that far off.

The question is can a team with an average lineup, below average fielding, and well below average bullpen get carried to a championship by a 4 man rotation?

If the Phils make the playoffs, the game that eliminates them will be like last night.

Last reminded me of how the 2011 Phillies season ended with halladay pitching a gem and losing to carpenter 1-0
