Should be sellers. Even if they somehow got Buxton it’s not fixing all their issues. They aren’t beating the dodgers or frankly brewers. Heck they are 12-27 vs playoff teams.

This team is cooked, that winless from the 5th spot is an 11 game losing streak from the 5th starter.

Granted, today's game was an offensive failure. There's been a ton of those this year (as shown by the tweet). Mattingly seems to be better at managing the bullpen (or whatever you want to call this dumpster fire collection of relief pitchers) but there's nothing he can do if these guys just can't hit, and when they do they have zero situational awareness on the basepaths.

This offense is boom or bust. If they aren't hitting 4 home runs in a game they arent scoring more than 3 runs which i think you touched in another post. They have no way to win when the home runs aren't there

That was essentially the issue in the dbacks series. It was Hr or bust. I basically said that when they got to game three, I was like they better hope they continue to keep hitting home runs because their hitting with runners in scoring position( even when they were hitting all those home runs) wasn’t good. So unless you just continue to just hit home runs, you weren’t gonna be able to sustain it. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened.

Frankly I think Mattingly has done a bad job with the bullpen as well. This month he’s had two of the worst managed games in a while. And Thomson wasn’t exactly good at it. That said it wouldn’t even make a difference because the Philly just can’t hit and scoring enough runs so the bullpen’s gonna be hung out to dry anyways.

If the Phillies were smart and thinking about this long-term, and not just this year, the play would be trade some of these older guys that have really good value in a sellers market. Guys like Wheeler, Schwarber, Harper, and then add Duran as you don’t need a closer if you’re going into a rebuild. You could even get some value for marsh and start. You could realistically add a ton of prospects to your farm so that you potentially don’t become post 2011 Phillies when all these guys decline and you have very little coming up.

lol. This is like 2-3 years too late. The time to do no matter the cost was 2023 and 2024. You made the decision not too. Going all in now on a old deteriorating offense and bad bullpen while the dodgers also add is foolish at this point

Screw it im just watching him the rest of the year lol

Game over lol turning it off

I turned it off right after we posted lol. Unwatchable trash 🗑️

2-7 would be a nice homestand to start the 2nd part of the season

They will be left with aging players and no farm system

They’d essentially be back in post 2011 Phillies

Well almost, except they won't have a championship

Baseball HOF voters are such hypocritical losers - hilarious how some people are punished for cheating while others are not.

Yup. In the end they’d have been better going all in during 2023 or 2024. Doing it now gets you definitely back to post 2011 Phillies without the title. They aren’t winning with this roster

Hitting their run quota early today

Big whoop - they’ll score some runs for a few games and then it’s back to 3 or less until the next streak. Rinse, repeat

He posted that when they only had 2 runs lol.

I love Sanchez, but his last eight starts it’s either been bad or really good. There’s nothing in between. It feels like teams have figure something out against him and I also think he’s tiring out because they basically had to have them be perfect for them to be in the position they are.

They mentioned on the broadcast that he needs to start adding more pitches to his arsenal to remain dominant

His command needs to also be better. Hes leaving too many pitches right in the heart of the plate and too many times he’s falling behind and having to battle back from 2-0 or 2-1 in counts

Comedy of errors gives up a run. Infuriating to watch.

Wheeler looks awful right now.

Good news came back to take a 6-5 lead

Bad news the bullpen will blow it

Worse news is wheeler is hurt

I read something about a possible illness going around with the pitching staff - hopefully it’s just that

What a disaster

Yea they have no business buying at the deadline. Start the fire sale and gear up for the future
