October 31, 20241 yr https://thatballsouttahere.com/phillies-prospect-andrew-painter-shines-top-performer-arizona-fall-league-01jba03d43es Andrew Painter's 'new' pitch will make him even better than we remember But in the midst of this short but efficient dominance from the young pitcher, Painter somehow dazzled even further and added a new trick to his set, per Sam Dykstra of MLB.com. Painter himself has called it a slider. "It's a slider,” Painter said, per Dykstra. "It’s the same pitch, same grip, just a different thought process. One of them, the slower one, is for a strike most of the time. When I get to two strikes, it's the same grip, but I'm just thinking to go gloveside away to a righty and in on a lefty. I'm just thinking more heater with it. Same grip though.” Painter first used a hard breaking ball during last spring training, leaving many a buzz about whether he would be on the major league roster to start the 2023 season (he probably would have done better than Taijuan Walker). But with this slider or cutter or whatever you want to call it, it was definitely effective in his most recent outing. He threw seven against Salt River, and six were dotted (or you can say painted) in the zone for strikes, and one was thrown for a swing and a miss

Would be nice to have a professional hitter in the box.....

It seemed like a 10-year contract with like 5 team option years. It'll be interesting to see how he does with another organization.

He was great the first 76 games. Then the last 67 games his slashes were similar to Stott’s season totals. Stott slashes: .245/.315/.356/.671 Bohm’s last 67 games since 4 hit game vs. Tigers: 242/.292/.381/.673 bohm’s first 78 games and through 4 hit game at tigers: .313/.366/.507/.873

Maybe the cardinals deal arenado straight up for Bohm. You take a chance with arenado on the decline owed good money for 3 more years. If not, I’m not so sure how they replace him. I think it’s much easier to replace Brandon marsh and Castellanos than Alec. Then again, I think Alec has the most trade value. I think Castellanos is more valuable to the Phillies than another team. If he is your 6 hitter, that’s a damn good 6 hitter. The problem is he’s not consistent enough to be your 4 hole hitter.

Yeah, it's not going to be easy, but changes need to be made and those are the obvious three.

One thing about Castellanos, he always plays hard and shows up early to practice before games. He puts the work in. Honestly rather keep him and move Marsh for sure and even Alec if the return was good enough. Don't think Castellanos would get much of a return at this point due to age and contract.
