Would be the most Sixers thing ever

The fact they managed to get out of the George contract is huge

That is just too confusing to read.

My question is- do we actually still have any selection in the 1st round of that draft? I dont care if itll end up being ours, or the clippers, or someone elses. But do we in some way still have a pick to make for ourselves? That would be really awesome regardless of whos it is.

I believe the only way we do not have a pick in 2028 is if scenario 4 occurs

Best part about Jaylen Brown is his ability to score. PG couldn’t really score enough anymore for whatever reason. It will be interesting to see how he fits with Maxey and VJ

So other than actually being able to root for the 6ers this year, we also need to root for the clippers to be outside of the lottery.

That seems fairly unlikely as it stands right now unfortunately. Scenario 4 seems like the most likely outcome imo.

Maxey will be more off ball.. should be able to use speed/slashing more.

Maxey won't need to be run in to the ground a much.

Can see Brown and VJ playing a lot of 2 man games.  Both lob threats for each other as the roll man. Both can also pop and hit the 3. Should play well off each other.

Really need to root for the clippers to win in 2027-28. Chance they are decent that year cause they have a bunch of cap space in 2027 offseason and assets to add a star

I’ve heard a couple of takes that this is an ownership move by the Boston Celtics. By that it is a newer ownership and they didn’t want to be paying the type of money into the luxury tax so this was a way to get out of a contract a year early.

I kind of think they’re trying to accumulate first round picks for another move down the road. Like I could see Boston going after a guy like Anthony Edwards if he gets disgruntled this year playing alongside LaMelo. Now they have this draft assets plus Paul George as an expiring contract after this year to make it work to try to get a deal like that done.

He and Josh Harris should go out for dinner. I bet they eat at a super expensive steak house and then bounce on the check.

I forgot for a minute that we were talking about the draft in 28. I was thinking about the next draft, in 2027.

No LeBron yet. Gansey sleepin

Colin Cowerd heard that Jaylen Brown is the smartest guy in every room kind of attitude and Brad Steven's wanted him to be that somewhere else. And the live streaming at like 3am... needing a PR team on that all the time.

He then talked about that they won a title and then you cling to that team and suddenly your too old so they got out of that contract instead of extending him. That point doesn't stand well because they tried trading for Giannis who is actually a little older than Brown.

So, clearly looking at the surprising discounted price it took to get him, Boston was soured on his personality.

Well, I hear you on the Jaylen Brown personality. And, for now, I don't care.

With every player comes a little bit or some sort of bullsheet: Attitude. Injuries. Shooting. Not meeting potential. Aging. Whatever.

So, we swapped the PG BS for the Jaylen Brown BS.

And, we see the potential right away for a title run with this mix.

LeBron or no LeBron, the Sixers will contend. LeBron on the Sixers would be over the top/maybe make the Sixers the favorites.

The rebuild so far has been pretty good on paper. Let's see how the team rounds out.

I can absolutely believe this....there is NO WAY we get Brown for George and 2 1st rounders. I mean jesus f'in Christ, we got a 1st rounder for McCain. Think about that/this! But the fact is, we got Brown for George, got 6 years younger, got an all NBA player, a Finals MVP. I'll take the headache especially when it seems all professional players are one step away from the Loony bin.

OK- the new GM proved he wasn't a moron, like Morey is. 1st test- PASSED.

After that Cowerd video, I also read how in about 3 weeks he is extension eligible for 2 years at 70+ million a year. Jason Tatum will also be eligible for that same extension next year and Boston just doesnt want that kind of money tied up in 2 players.

Which also makes sense. It was in a sense a cap dump for them. They'll likely trade Paul Georges expiring deal next year. So from a team building cap dynamics point of view it made sense.

Still, they would have been paying Tatum and Giannis so his attitude definitely came in to play for them do do this.

They also thought despite Brown being 6th in MVP voting, Derrick White had a better season.

it’s just the boston loving media huffing copium. celtics got robbed. lol most thought philly would need to attach at least one 1st round pick just to get another team to take PG for nothing in return. gansey adds just one more 1st & a couple 2nds & they got an all star in his prime. it was F’n highway robbery. roll

Mind Blown. This isn't real, right?

I think this is part ownership not wanting to pay brown that extension and Tatum . But I still think this is more they realize Jaylen Brown’s market wasn’t gonna get them the assets they needed in a trade to get another big-time player when they needed to do it. I think they realize if they couldn’t get Brown and picks for Giannis that they needed to just get more first round picks as brown’s contract decreased his value.

I could totally see the Celtics accumulating pics to try to get somebody. Rumors of Trey Murphy. Supposedly the pelicans just didn’t want Brown or dealing with that extension but they wanted first rounders. I also could see them wait til a star potentially becomes disgruntled then use their firsts and the ones they acquired in the trade to get a guy they really want

Good call. Trey Murphy probably gets moved their now. He is cheaper, younger, better attitude, his fake hair doesn't get on teammates jerseys, etc

LeBron James is taking his time in free agency and has no timetable for when he will make a decision. Because James is showing some level of flexibility for the type of contract he is prepared to sign, he can be patient without necessarily stopping other business around the league from getting done unlike the situations in 2010 and 2014.

"LeBron James is not in a rush right now to make a decision," said Shams Charania on Thursday. "He's evaluating everything. His biggest priority in all this is finding a team where he feels he's going to have a chance to play meaningful basketball and compete for a championship. My understanding is this will not be a financially driven, money decision.

"His agent, Rich Paul, has been getting about a dozen pitches ever since free agency opened."

The Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat are considered the three most probable teams for James. The Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers have also been identified as teams that have reached out to James.

"LeBron James will probably take the next few days to sift through all that and figure out exactly where he's at. There is no timetable," added Charania.

Valanciunas could be released soon if not included in a trade as a salary filler.

Thats rebounding.
