Should be quite the convoluted discussion

Vikings exactly that team that had a ceiling they accomplished. Able to win all those regular season games. Yet at the end? Nothing. Lost to the Lions with the division title and number one seed on the line. Not winning a playoff game. Just weren’t even any real legit contending team ever.

They were (opinion) a product of the NFL’s unbalanced scheduling system. The NFC West is the Division that gets the cupcake schedule this year.

An interesting solution to that problem has been proposed that has some great strengths and significant weaknesses. In it the NFC teams would only play NFC teams, with home and home games within the Division (for a total of six games) and then one game against the 12 non-Division teams. The AFC teams would follow the same formula, within their Conference.

So, no inter Conference games until the Playoffs. How the Playoffs would work is up for debate. You could continue as is done now with Conference specific rounds leading up to the inter Conference Super Bowl, or you could start inter Conference games in Round One of the Playoffs with AFC seed #1 playing NFC seed #8, etc.

Thoughts?

Personally, I don't like it from a fan perspective. It also promotes "head hunting" aka teams trying to intentionally take out your star players to weaken you or make you a non factor. I don't think the players would appreciate this. Sounds more like tribal warfare than football

This would then have to become a new input in the computer formulated schedules, making sure the schedules were even as far as(supposed) difficulty. I could have an ok team in a crap division playing other crap teams and win 15 games, while a good team has a tough schedule and can only win 10 games. They offer no plans as to how to make this schedule parity a reality. Just seems like another knee jerk thing that was not thought out, Instead how about a "turf guy" for each team that has a say and goes ahead of the game?. Both should sign off on the turf conditions. That would have avoided the "Slip-N-Slide" SB in Glendale(the guy that WAS in charge quit over this)

Why is an advanced scheme better?

Lots of people swear by "Less is more”. Warren Buffett, the most successful investor in the World swears by " Less is More”.

Have you ever heard of Occam’s Razor?

Very aware of Occams Razor. Would think it perfectly explains arriving at my conclusion when only breathing changed and the team in 2021 went from terrible to on a roll. Simplest answer is usually the correct answer.

Advanced beyond elementary school kids backyard football is just a necessity to thrive all the way where guys are being paid for their football wisdoms.

Actually having reasoning and expectations according to every varying situation….pretty much what makes it a scheme…versus talking about a playbook,

KISS, yet endless pages of posts from you about how we "need to do more" and "we aren't progressing" and how no "new wrinkles" we implemented, that is the antithesis of KISS

I don’t follow. How would it be any different from the current system. Isn’t football by its very nature tribal warfare?

OK just way out there to the extreme, say we played Dullaz 16 games every year. Wouldn't their goal be to hurt Bark and Hurts ASAP because it makes their division win easier? It just seems like license to kill. I understand it's an extreme example, but the point still stands

Why is it a necessity? Vince Lombardi kept it simple. Paul Brown in Cleveland kept it simple. Bill Belichik kept it reasonably simple. Why do you advocate for "more is more”?

You lost me. How/why would we play Dallas 16 games in any year? 2 would be the maximum … 3 if they met in the Playoffs, just like now.

Isn't this idea to have more divisional/conference games and less outside games?

I was using an extreme to make the point, no we will never do this, but to me this makes head hunting more popular, the more teams you can hurt the better your chances of winning are. I just don't like it unless there are unseen details about it

Carson Wentz is 3-6 in nine starts for three different teams since 2022. Compared to Jalen Hurts has been 52-23. Just to review grading out how everybodies opinions turned out.

You may now continue with polishing Hurts ball sack, so pathetic

That’s just bigger picture smaller less important win/ loss stat comparison. The actually highly important comparison between the two postseason production and success couldn’t be anymore lopsided. Wentz never won a playoff game in his entire career. Not to get ahead of ourselves with assuming Wentz career is completely finished playing out yet…but as I so uniquely was aware of at that time of needing to make the decision between the two…his career was already effectively over then. Jalen Hurts defying all odds to carry that 4 win team he took over that was old and weighed down by so much baggage capping down such a weak level of roster talent to instantly qualifying as a playoff team. Not just has Hurts actually contributed for our organization in the postseason….his success can only be described as the beggining of the makings of legendary feats. Already establishing himself as the best ever franchise QB at such a young age of 26. Nobody knows just how the future will play out. But can’t be denied Hurts career path is on nothing less than a HOF track.
