Wonder why Mitchell, DeJean and Trotter haven't signed yet. Taking no chances in the CB room - maybe get a S out of them, besides cross training DeJean?

He talked about A Smith in the same breath and it was a slam to him and Howie's FA choices saying none of those could be on the roster without having no knowledge at all just spewing his own BS He talked about the young guys being " developmental" ...which is what we think about with late round picks. Kids that are here long term... not for what they bring day 1. They are here to get better. Campbell and Parker need to bring immediate value or no reason to keep them. Therefore it's absolutely possible that there could be another WR brought in. It's a position to watch because of all the possibilities. Have 100 people read it... I'll give you $1000 if one of them interprets it as" badmouthing " the rookie.

May 14, 20241 yr Former Eagles OT and local CSN analyst Barrett Brooks.... doesn't have Bradberry, Isaiah Rodgers or Devante Parker making the final 53.

But as you said, IDK if we have a roster spot for that limited play. 123 pointed out DeJean has that ability and if we's not going to start right away it would give him something to do Yeah I just think given how little Covey has offered on offense so far his roster spot may be in danger. Yeah DeJean can apparently return kicks. I think Aninas Smith can too? There are definitely some options there as good as Covey has been.

Covey hasn't returned kicks, that seems upgrade from Boston Scott etc. Covey probably should have been pro bowl punt returner though. The point Brooks made yesterday is that last year they were able to keep Covey on the practice squad for a good portion of the season...this year he would get picked up immediately, probably why he gets a roster spot. A guy like Parker probably won't get much interest.

Bradberry we all are assuming hits bricks at some point before the season. Parker and Rodgers would surprise me. Parker should be a good option for our QB. He can hit the covered guy…just need him to come down with it. Could possibly be our second best Redzone Wr option. Rodgers I really like to have as that backup inside and out. His competition should be McPherson and Jobe.

Basically the WR does all the work, it's not why your QB makes $250 million. If the young kids impress... I can easily see Parker not make the 53 with the idea they could keep him on PS and not get poached... remember it's a different strategy now. Brooks had 7 CBs... the 2 rookies, Slay, Ringo, Maddox, Ricks and Jobe. 3 safeties.... Blankenship, CGJ and Brown. The idea with Maddox and DeJean being able to fill in a little at S if needed. Was listening to ESP on the radio today with Jon Ritchie's morning show. He expects more two TE sets. But also thinks Campbell is the favorite to win the #3 WR spot for now. I'm getting the idea that a lot of these media guys want A Smith to win the job, they just don't want to rush him. I see where some see Renfrow as an outside option for a year incase things don't progress with the current guys. Another thing I'm seeing is that a lot of these guys think the LB from the Saints is going to win a starting job. Always fun when new coordinators and a bunch of new players come in.
May 14, 20241 yr Williams, a former third-round pick, has been one of the best rotational interior defenders in the entire NFL over the past two seasons. While his 968 snaps over that period rank just 64th at the position, his 73.2 PFF overall grade places 32nd. Williams was playing the best football of his career before an injury in 2023, with his 77.6 overall grade between Weeks 5 and 11 ranking 14th among interior defenders. Milton named our most underrated player
May 14, 20241 yr Zach Baun was an admitted target by Rosie. Fangio brought him up first when talking LBs. He seems to be a very clear part of the plan.
May 14, 20241 yr Parris gives the field stretching speed out of the slot. That opens things up for plenty of others. Then you have his YAC ability. He should be in the drivers seat as that third WR option.

If Paris was so hot with his speed, why was't he used much?

Then you have Parker who was the last ranked WR in getting separation. But hey... we don't want to bad mouth these two studs!

Not because DeJean is worse, but he was already injured and now that we got him I would rather "risk" Smith because we have more depth at slot than we do at DB. I believe DeJean could see rotational playing time right away. Smith may not,but we'll see how that works out in camp and pre.

Has nothing to do with you bringing up this dead horse topic once AGAIN. But since we're going there AGAIN one or more of those 3 will play the slot spot. if you want to boot Ngata for yet another vet we need to pay then do that

You look at ONE straight line 40 time. Firstly no routes are straight lines, secondly can you run a 4.2 for x amount of snaps in a row? Can your 4.2 guy get by a press DB? A slot guy needs to have directional change(aka quickness) that is not the same as straight line speed. it's the same mistake Howie made taking Reagor(who was an outside WR anyhow)

I'm not saying he can be pedestrian LOL but the above factors also weigh in so flat out straight line speed is only one of many factors
