RB’s Killins, Warren and Holyfield all cut. That’s kind of surprising. What an awful year to be an UDFA. I was hoping Good-Jones or Juriga could show something, too.

2020 season officially over

I thought IR allowed them to bring players back. I know there's a 9/6 deadline for the new rules taking effect but I don't know whether players IR'd prior to that date are allowed to be activated.

I understand we have a ton of talent and upside with Goedert but he and Ertz are two completely different types of TE's.

Zach Ertz runs routes better than any other TE in the NFL and probably just as good (maybe even better) than most of the elite WR's in the NFL. You can't replace what Zach Ertz does as a TE because they don't exist.  He demands DB coverage...which makes defenses use DB's vs LB's whenever he's on the field.  Which in turn can open it up for the run game, etc

Goedert on the other hand, is the classic, big, run after the catch TE that can bulldoze his way through a defense. They compliment each other but neither can replace what the other one does, imo.

Therefore, don't think that if we trade Ertz that the offense will be the same with Goedert.   Because it will be different.  That said, having an influx of talent at WR could possibly afford the Eagles to take that risk but it's still a risk...and you would be taking away Wentz' #1 target over the course of Wentz' entire career.

This a very nice breakdown of the differences between the two TEs.

Good post.

Nope. Have to make the 53 to be eligible to come back

I imagine Killins and Holyfield will be p/s candidates.  I think they want to see who else gets cut.

I always have interest depending on the price it costs. With desean, Jeffery injury prone and reagor already hurt I’d still be intrigued depending on price. Plus i think Watkins and Hightower can play in the slot as well as JJAW.

I meant outside as in outside the organization.

Killins will get claimed. If a player runs a 4.2 and shows explosiveness, a team will take a chance on him as a returner or role player.  I think Holyfield might make it to the PS.

I think Killins gets claimed based on his speed alone.

We have to think one of them will end up on the team.  Eventually.

I think you’re right. I just looked at the depth chart. Sanders, Scott, and Clement are the only backs left on the roster.

Maybe but he was an UDFA.  I mean he's been passed on by other teams 255 times.   I'm sure they all know he's fast.

I think Clement has a breakout year.  600 on the ground, 250 catching the ball 7 total TD's.

I'll believe it when I see him carry the ball for the first time this year.  If he has his burst back from 2017, it might be why he made the 53.  Still want to see it for myself.

Maybe. He didn’t try to protect him last year though he probably knew his Carolina time was coming to an end. Washington is actually pretty solid at RB with Peterson, Gibson, Barber and Love.

McKissic too.

Plus his guarantees ranked 8th among our UDFAs. I think we’re safe. And if someone does claim him, meh, no loss.

I sure hope so.  I was a fan.  He can be the Pumphrey we need and want.

That just seems to be the trend, doesn’t it?  Go with 3 RB.  Being a guy back.  Cut him again.  Passes through waivers and back again.

Wait for the Eagles should trade Ertz for Kamara posts.

Waaait for iiiiiiiitttttttt.

I guess my main issue is and has been, that he keeps missing on draft picks thus having to extend or bring back older players.  We do not have a lot of good young players lined up for the future.  It’s pretty bleak especially considering how over the cap we are currently for next year.   Our D line is on the older side.  Our O line is old.  Our secondary isn’t old but tons of uncertainty outside of Slay.  WR remains to be seen.  But if AJ was healthy our top two WR would be old. Maybe 2 of these young WR hit.  That would be huge, but I’ll hold my breathe.   I still contend that we should have traded Ertz this past offseason.

Ok - if he trades Ertz for picks aren't you worried about Roseman making the selections.

Agreed. He’s just way too small. He’s like a couple inches and several pounds smaller than Pumphrey and Jeremy Bloom. I think he needs to keep the speed and get up to 180ish if he wants to last in the league.

Yeah, but it's safer for a personnel guy and the scouts to wait until he's not drafted to try to get him.  He is so small that if you draft him and he doesn't pan out, then that might be used on a performance evaluation. But, as a FA, there is no risk...it's playing with house money.  He will get claimed.

Really?  You know we’re in cap hell next year right?

Haven't fans been saying that almost every year for the past decade or so?  But just about every year, Howie figures out a way to make it work.  :showoff:

Not me but I'm worried about next year.

It seemed like every day there were reports of him getting destroyed by defenders.

One reporter indicated that the players seemed to like blowing him up on runs.  Like it was a game.

He’s like a seal pup amongst a pod of orcas.

I haven’t been paying much attention to training camp. Who has stood out (positively and negatively)?
