Teams win, not players.  This team lost today.  Every single player, every single coach can look in the mirror and be honest with themselves about what they could have done better to ensure a win.  Of course, they can all just fool themselves and ignore their own part in it and point at #6.  That's an option, but that's not what winning teams do.  That's what LAST YEAR's team would do.  Hopefully, this team isn't that same level of immaturity.  Maybe they are though.

The defense forced FIVE turnovers, including one with 3 minutes left when we had the lead.

Teams do win, and every other part of the team did enough to win. Smith had one job and he blew it.

Well its a lock it will happen now. We will be the 2 seed and them the 7.

I don't care about the #1 seed, it's unlikely the Eagles were going to get it. The Lions are not losing to the Niners. The only real way for the Eagles to have gotten the #1 seed was for the Lions to lose vs SF. Because if the Vikings lose today or next week, they'd have nothing to play for week 18. And if they both win, then week 18 decides the 1 seed between them.

I'm more disheartened that a defense we all expected us to carry the Eagles to a deep playoff run gave up 22 4th quarter points and needed a clutch stop, but couldn't get it. I still trust the defense generally, but what the F. And we saw signs of this vs Atlanta and the Jags too. The Jags were driving down the field with ease for the win until Lawrence made an awful throw. Something about the way this defense plays in those spots that's concerning to me. Big picture I care more about that than the #1 seed which likely was not happening anyway.

Yeah the defense was a big big let down. Most the year they’ve been so good and so dominant. With Hurts out we needed them to come to big again and they just didn’t. They ished the bed big time despite coming up with 5 turnovers.

Not the defense’s fault the skins got infinity possessions because QB1 was hurt.

The defense did more than enough to win, including making Daniels look retarded by forcing yet another turnover with the game on the line.

But then Smith blew the game by dropping a routine catch.

And the defense on 4th and 11 has one job too.  It was a team loss.  Why is that so hard for you to come to grips with?  

Barkley dropped a pass, Pickett threw a pick, Becton blocked left when he should have blocked right, Calcaterra was abused all game... Brown dropped a ball he shouldn't have.  

Defense gave up a 4th and 11 in the 4th quarter.  Defense didn't get the stop when it was needed the most.  Defense gave up 3 4th quarter TDs.

ST gave up short fields all game long.

 

Smith's one mistake is looming large because of when it happened, but all the other mistakes throughout the game could have been a difference making play.  They ALL had one job, and each of them, in their turn blew it.  TEAM.
