I believe Dan Campbell said the Lions are playing their starters, which isn't surprising. It's idiotic, but not surprising.

I don’t know if it’s idiotic. I think they’d rather go into the offseason on a win than a 4-game losing streak. And I’m sure the league doesn’t want to turn into the NBA where starters don’t play often. There are plenty of teams out of the playoffs. If they all sat their starters once they were out of it then it would be a problem

I've thought almost since the first time I watched him (right after the draft) that Williams might have a future at guard. He looks like a powerful guy who has waistbending issues which can be exploited on the outside. But he's powerful enough to be something at guard, kinda like Becton. (Yes, I know he's not as big as Becton. Almost no one is.)

Agree with this. OG is his best position. I'm not really high on Williams. He was drafted when he was 21 but young doesn't automatically mean good. His feet are awful and speed rushers will kill him. I don't believe for a second he would have been a first or second round pick if he came back.. He is just not very good.

I'm fairly certain that working with him (or any other player) on things like you are talking about (i.e. technique/football drills) off the field while on IR is strictly forbidden by the CBA. If the team were doing things like that, the NFLPA would file an immediate grievance.

You can work with guys. They can’t practice on the field when they are an IR.he can have his own coach outside of the eagles that he trains with and the eagles suggested to him. Giving him stuff to work on (can say this happens in nfl cause NFL player from university of Az was doing it when he "was on IR” a few years back)

Again, I don’t see the Eagles telling him the last 3-4 months on IR just relax. But now we are gonna throw you back out there for a 21 day practice window while you haven’t been learning through film study, weight room and other avenues to improve. I call BS they had him just not working on things that they wanted him to improve in the last 4 months and just throw him to the wolves if a 21 day practice window. Find that very hard to believe. Also find it hard to believe he’s still on the eagles roster if in December they see he’s basically same as April and made absolutely no strides mentally, physically and even some on the field during practice using that.

I point out Jason peters when he was early in his career in Buffalo, stated he was helped with the practice reps but he saw improvement watching film and learning from guys everyday while he was learning the position. It helped him in his work habits and asking questions to improve himself. With coaches and other OL helping him with film study and mental aspect

It’s 100% not. They get paid to play football. Resting is to get ready for the playoffs.

Might be giving up a 4th place schedule and there's a real logjam there draftwise. Gold bless him... ( btw ATL, IND, GB, JAX don't have a 1st in the upcoming draft).

Used the playoff generator and this is the outcome I think will happen:

Seahawks - 1 Seed

7 Packers @ 2 Eagles

6 49ers @ 3 Bears

5 Rams @ 4 Panthers

Eagles and Packers rematch, 49ers and Bears Rematch, Rams and Panthers Rematch.

Only way for that to happen is Chicago lose on Sunday and the Eagles win. I don't see the Bears losing.

I didn’t read these but the entire premise of both articles seems both obvious and idiotic

I got a chuckle from "get used to the eagles being conservative on offense"

And if Gibbs tears his ACL, then next year is done too. It's taking risk for absolutely no reason, other than trying to be a "tough" guy. Play younger guys and get them some experience.

No. If SF loses and LA wins, LA would be the 5 seed.

That doesn't make sense. If the Rams win and SF loses they both sit at 12-4. They split the Head-to-Head tiebreaker. In the Division both would be 4-2. In the Conference SF would be 9-3 and Rams would be 7-5. How does that give the Rams the tie breaker advantage over the Niners?

EDIT: I just grabbed the NFL Tie Breaker formula, which is:

  1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs)

  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division

  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games

  4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference

So before Conference Record is Common Games, and that is where the Rams move ahead of the Niners. My bad.

LAR SF

Sea 1-1 Sea 1-1

Ari 2-0 ARI 2-0

SF 1-1 LAR 1-1

Ind 1-0 Ind 1-0

Hou 1-0 Hou 0-1

Lost aspect of the lions-bears game is week 2 dan Campbell and lions took it to Ben Johnson a the bears. Like piled it on. Could see be Johnson wanting to return the favor if they have a chance to do so. I still think it’d be a close game cause bears rarely blow anyone out besides Cleveland

Doesn’t go back conference record as the 3rd tie breaker. Because same division vying for wild card the order of tiebreaker is

  1. Head to head

  2. Divisional record

  3. Record vs. common opponent

  4. Conference record

Usually if it’s two teams from different divisions they don’t have many common opponents (same division they have 12 common opponents. Rams would be 9-3 and SF 8-4). So it’s after conference record.

Also, tough day for the Diggs' family...

Wonder if Buffalo tries claiming him as they tried with slay. Although his contract is different than slay’s

Also what a day for the diggs family. I’d say maybe he has a connection to the Stefon diggs story but i doubt that’s the reason as there were issues before this

That was my question. Maybe give him a chance to catch on somewhere else before free agency. But outside the box thinking, maybe he’s tied to that Stefon Diggs story. since they were going to release him after the year anyways you might as well do it now.

He has no guarantees left, so all you'd owe him is 500k of salary (1/17th of his 8.5mm salary) and ~59k in a gameday roster bonus if he's active this week. I guess you could pay that to have him as depth for the playoffs, then waive him after the season. Probably not worth it, but the cost isn't prohibitive.

It's not for Cam Williams. Like Lampkin and Hinton before him, they are just using the 21-day window to get him some practice reps. The reason for Hughlett's being cut is that once the playoffs come PS players have unlimited elevations, so the move is predicated on him clearing waivers and getting resigned to the PS, and one of the following happens.
1. Mukuba comes off of the IR.

2. If Mukuba isn't going to be available for the playoffs, Andre Sam (the 4th S) gets signed to the 53 man roster. Hughlett and Patrick Johnson (core STer) get elevated from the PS for every playoff game, which means Ty Robinson who only played 3 ST snaps (all on KO) last week becomes a game day scratch, likely along with Michael Carter, II (the 5th CB).

What would be the point of #2? You are just swapping two guys. Hughlett could just stay on the roster and Sam would be called up. You are actually handcuffing yourself a bit because Hughlett would HAVE to be a game day elevation and take up one of the spots. They don't need Sam when Michael Carter is healthy. They just even played the last game without both Sam and Carter.

2 hours ago, vikas83 said:

The counterpoint would be they want to add Williams to the 53 for this week so they can go Williams/Toth/Kendall/Pryor/Fred on the O-line. Otherwise, they need to elevate Pierce from the PS, or Mailata has to play. I want Jordan to get some rest along with Cam and Landon. You could put Pryor at LT and have Steen play RG, but then you might want life insurance on McKee for when he gets blasted by a blind side hit.

Either way, I expect Huglett on the PS by tomorrow, though if I were the Rams, I'd consider claiming him as payback for Lampkin.

2 hours ago, FranklinFldEBUpper said:

I still think that roster spot is for Williams. I’m convinced that Sunday is gonna be McKee and the backups. As the roster is currently constructed they simply don’t have enough backup offensive linemen to play. Sure they could elevate Pierce off the PS, but he sucks. (He might get elevated anyway.) But with Williams, you’d actually be getting a real, honest look at a lineman you drafted, one who supposedly had a pretty good reputation.

I get the one game angle but then Williams is on your playoff roster and taking up a spot the whole way, unless you finagle up some fake injury.

I’d assume they’d have some fugazi injury during the game so could put him in IR

Maybe stop calling the same predictable run play on 1st down every time. This guy is completely clueless.

I can’t with this idiot. Nothing he says makes sense and his bf Siri isn’t anymore intelligent. What a disaster of an offense they’ve created
