If you call a coach trying to change the culture by holding players accountable a dunce, well he’s a dunce. I’ll take that kind of coach all day long, weed out the guys that do not fit your culture. It’s Schotty’s first and possibly only chance at a HC position, you don’t let dead weight stick around and Diggs is/was nothing but dead weight in DAL.

Yup. On the surface that sounds like Schotty not using discretion and being a needless hardass, but so much of effective people management hinges on mutual respect and accountability.

I generally get along with my people and treat them well, but that’s dependent on them giving an honest effort and giving a damn about their job responsibilities. If that’s not there, they don’t get much rope from me. You don’t treat everyone "the same”, you treat everyone consistently.

Diggs’ request was probably reasonable if he’s not Trevon Diggs the other 364 days of the year.

I posted about this comment yesterday, and posted the full press conference video (that guy in the tweet shouting had such an annoying voice I couldn't get through that).

Siri did not say that he changes the play calls. He specifically said that he does NOT do that live, because that would then result in running out of time on the play clock. He said that he needs to do a better job of discussing the play calling between series, not to interrupt live when the play is being called. He said a few times that he needs to do that more, and reading between the lines it suggests he knows there are problems with KP's play calling and he needs to step in.

If that’s the case, then just take over the play calling. That way you don’t have to worry about having a discussion in between getting the play off in time or inbetween series. If you know there’s a problem don’t even try to have the discussion during series or plays. Just take it over because clearly you know there’s a problem and you don’t like the plays and they aren’t working. The simplest solution is you take over

Agree. It's hard to get excited and not be down watching an OC drive the sports car that Howie gave him like the drunk guy in License to Drive.

I think we need to be honest with ourselves…

It's even more worrisome if he is changing the plays to what we have seen, pretty horrible and highly concerning.

Issues on offense are majority coaching issues that are fixable. Siri wasn't able to fix any issues in 2023, and since then he's dictated a conservative predictable style. The Head Coach and the Offensive Coordinator are both problems for the offense. Other problems are O line health and Hurts passing issues and hesitancy in running. It's a recipe for the kind of offense we're seeing, and the coaches haven't really done much to fix it the entire season.

I'm starting to wonder if Patullo is learning a little bit more on the job and inserting some changes that might be positive and starting to work, but Siri overrides him with shrinking to conservative play calling once they have a lead.

Based off what NOTW is saying is he isn’t. He listened to the entirety of the presser. I just listened to th snippet that was posted with the video. If the cases that Sirriani sees what the play is and knows it’s not gonna work or doesn’t like it, but let’s it happen anyways cause he doesn’t wanna waste more time on the play clock that he needs to take over. Because if it’s continuously happening, then Pattulo isn’t getting any better. And you’re not helping the team and you’re not helping yourself to just keep letting him do it. Talking about it in between series isn’t gonna make it better. We’re in week 17 that should’ve already taken place weeks ago. You should’ve seen some improvement from patullo with this weeks ago. So if it’s not improving then just take over and do it yourself because you obviously know it’s not working. Probably still isn’t good cause i don’t think sirianni is a good play caller either

That fat offensive lineman has good upside. Might be able to develop him into a guard. Pay him in pb &j sandwiches

Remember how bad Siri was as a play caller? There are multiple times a game where even he thinks Patullo's play calls are bad and has to correct them. Think about that for a second.

A lot of people forget Sirianni made a mistake not taking over play calling from Brian Johnson in 2023 as well. Right before the defense melted down, the Eagles went 4 consecutive games scoring 6, 6, 7, and 7 in the first half. Some people didn’t notice because they came back in the second half and beat both the Chiefs and Bills — but the cracks were evident.

Not sure if Sirianni had thoughts of taking over play calling or not, but unfortunately that was at the same time the defensive players came to him and told him Desai was way in over his head. That left Sirianni trying to bale water and the choice to have Matt Patricia take over the defensive play calling had the effect of …… the Titan submersible, I guess.

Its incompetence backed up by more incompetence.

Our solution

Hurts’ original reaction to Patullo was a red flag. He knew

Imo Brian Johnson was a better OC than Patullo. That’s not saying much but j actually think Johnson given a second year might have seen some progress. I just think Patullo is a bad OC and more experience won’t help.

Patullo is Sirianni’s guy and someone he probably views as a brother and has loyalty too. Imo this is Kyle Ren saying i know what has to be done but i don’t know if i have the strength to do it. frankly by not doing it and pretty much letting howie/lurie be the executioner this offseason then sirianni doesn’t have to be the bad guy to his friend.

I said mid season that Nick needed to step up, lead, and take over playcalling.

We know it wouldn’t be ideal, and probably not a long term solution, but it would have been better than where things are now.

A clueless KP with Nick confusing things further by interjecting just reeks of chaos. And it’s all very evident on the football field.

Typical result of a weak half measure approach.

Part of me wonders if he didn’t have as much say in this OC as Brian Johnson was a guy he was close too ans wanted in 2023. That didn’t end great. Meanwhile this time they were going to allow more pull for sirianni after winning a Super Bowl after a disastrous collapse. Pretty evident that Howie/Lurie should be picking the OC and stick with DCs who have a lot of experience as Schwartz and fangio have been good and great in their time here.

All i know is this lurie believes the league is an offensive driven league is not going to sit back with all this money invested into the offense (why they have the money invested in that offense) and potentially wasting arguably the best defense he’s had in his ownership. If the Eagles lose in the WC round due to offensive ineptitude and the following year the offense continues to struggle then it’s a trend. it would be a pattern over 4 seasons that the offense could only be consistent and high level functionality with a generational running game which is not consistently achievable.

Just saw Trevon Diggs got released, any chance Eagles can get him? Heard is healthy to play.... Would be huge if we can get him for the Playoffs.

A) Siri might not have any answers.

B) The majority of fans seem satisfied to scapegoat KP. If Nick takes over playcalling, that would put him squarely in the crosshairs.

Still don't get that risk over Aj Dillon. And PS elevations in the post season are open so Sam could have come up. Not sure what was so important to risk not having a LS even if it was a small risk.

No way Barkley plays against Washington. They want a third RB so Bigsby and Shipley aren't run into the ground.

Sirianni probably doesn’t.

Probably also correct. Frankly he does it and it’s as bad or worse now he’s like you said in the crosshairs. Also believe he doesn’t want to be the bad guy with patullo. So it plays out then howie/lurie this offseason are. as they want change and he can say i tried but thats what they wanted

If the Bobs asked him what he does here Nick would say I am good with vibes. He honestly doesn't do anything worth keeping. Vic and Howie won him a SB.
