Blackmon on Saints, Risner on Bengals and Becton never cost comp. Might need a new list :)

Got the list from Spotrac so they need a new list.

Speaking of GPAs....why give out draft grades if you don't give one lower than a C?

lol I didn't pay attention to Jags. Wtf happened there?

Whew...took me about three days but I finally caught up.

P.S. Wouldn't be surprised if #18 becomes available for Payton. Covey wore 85 (I think) last year when he was on the practice squad. He could easily switch back to that to free up 18.

Thanks. Very cool chart. We did well and so did our rivals.

I guess taking the old man TE in the 2nd didn't outweigh getting Pregnon in the 3rd. I feel like without a 1st round pick, it's harder to be 'right' compared to the consensus.

What's really important is the long snapper situation. Rocco Underwood is fine with me, but why didn't the UGA kid get picked up at all? Inquiring minds...

They would never do it because this organization has a weird thing about gatekeeping numbers but having him wear 11 would be hilarious. They could even sell it under the guise of him wearing the same number as the last NDSU QB we drafted

Might be a big diva.

I don’t think they will be holding 11 from anyone. It could be his in a month

Yep. I kept hearing it was a worse than usual draft but it really hit me when the Eagles drafted Markel Bell with an early 3rd round pick. I like the prospect and you can squint and see a pathway to him becoming a starting down the road. That being said, he definitely seems more like a prospect whose best outcome is to become a really good backup swing tackle. Most years this guy is a project mid to late 4th round type of pick and he ends up going early 3rd round. You can't even fault the Eagles for taking him where they did as in this draft it was perfectly fine value. I think there's a reason the Eagles were ok with not having a pick between 68 and 178 and it also makes the trade for Greenard that much more impressive.

Cooper DeJean will be playing safety in base which 20-30% of snaps. Mukuba will play the other safety. I'd still like to see someone better than Epps which I think will happen but it's also not the highest impact spot

I read somewhere that they were only in base about 15% of the time in 2025, but yeah they aren't ever going to take Coop off of the field and with Woolen here he won't be at outside corner in base so......

I’ve completely come around on the Lemon pick, though I worry about Hurts capping his upside by still avoiding the middle of the field. I think he has JSN/Puka production kinda upside in the right environment.

I’m still way iffy on the Stowers pick. Analytics guys like him (I wish the Sumer Sports breakdown was clipped somewhere- they LOVE him), but I’m just not seeing it. His receiving ability would have to be elite for Mannion to adapt the whole offense for him, and that would seem to leave Lemon underutilized. Else, he maxes out as a package player, maybe 30-40% of the snaps, I.e., a souped up 2024 Calcaterra. Just so, so many ways this can fail, 1-2 it can succeed.

Why give out draft grades before these kids play a single down in the NFL?

My son is a senior in HS this year. All of his classes are either AP, Honors or IB. AP and IB classes are on a 5.0 scale. Honors are on a 4.5 scale. He will have like up to 20 college credits. Still will not graduate early because he wants to study aerospace engineering.

Yeah, both the high school numbers and the SATs are completely different from what they were a couple decades back. You can't compare the numbers to previous periods.

When was the last time the Eagles got cooked because of mishandling the safety position?

Nate Allen and Jaqwan Jarrett were bad, stupid second round picks...but their safety situation always works itself out.

My evaluations and expectations are anchored by my own stubborn opinions and by track record. Their track record at WR is poor. If you combine a prospect I don't like with their track record at that position, I'm not going to just assume they'll be better than a disappointment. Their track record at getting viable safeties on the field with minimal investment is excellent. I see no reason to panic when they have a second round pick, even if it's one I wasn't in love with, a veteran nickel CB who has played at an extremely high level in this league (Carter), a veteran who filled in quite well at the position last year (Epps), an interesting rookie draft pick...that's going to work. And if it doesn't, you've got the most versatile defensive player in the entire NFL (yes, I'm ready to call Coop that) available to backstop it.

You forgot about a bunch of stuff.

2023 which was unmitigated disaster after they left CJGJ and Epps walk in free agency and they cheaped out by signing Terrell Edmunds and Justin Evans who were both horrendous. Then of course they traded for Kevin Byard which didn't work out.

2021 and 2022 they gave one year deals to Anthony Harris who was pretty bad. In 2022 they also let Rodney McLeod walk and were supposedly in on Marcus Williams before he signed with the Ravens, and then they ultimately traded for CJGJ in camp.

In 2020 they left Malcolm Jenkins walk and signed Will Parks and I'm pretty sure that was the year they tried to move Jalen Mills to safety.

Before that you would have to go way back to when they had guys like Nate Allen and Jaqwan Jarrett (as you mentioned) and I'm pretty sure they tried to start Macho Harris for a while back in the day but safety has been a major issue off and on over the last several years and with Howie finally coming around on the LB position, S is in the new LB.

Drafting Boerkircher at 56 as the 3rd tight end off the board was utterly horrendous in a vacuum. When you consider they already have Brenton Strange and had three third round picks that they could have easily gotten Boerkircher with it's even more puzzling. Definitely the worst value pick in the draft, with Carson Beck at 65 and De'Zhaun Stribling at 33 as honorable mentions. Oh, and while Pregnon was solid value in round three he was yet another 25 year old prospect for Jacksonville along with Boerkircher.

He just turned 23 years old and has been playing the position for a whopping three years. He can get eased into the position this year with Goedert still here for another year and develop a lot behind the scenes. He also has the frame to add another 5-10 lbs of muscle. It's not against the rules for him to get better, (in fact I would argue that based on his history he has a lot of development left ahead of him) so saying he "maxed out" as this or that before he even steps in the practice field for the Eagles is really silly. It may work out it may not but you don't draft a freak athlete who is new to his position like Stowers with the idea in mind that there is a cap on what he can become, it's actually the opposite of that.

Would be hilarious if the Patriots trade for Pickens

People who didn't like Blankenship and were glad to see him go are going to be whining about the safety position all season.

Sign Becton, trade the diva for a couple of picks (hopefully including a 2027 first round pick), and trade for a safety at some point in camp for a late round pick or two and we are ready to go compete for a SB in 2026 and set ourselves up for a great draft in 2027. LFG!!!!!!

I wasn't even the biggest Blankenship fan but I said at the time it was a mistake to let him go when he only signed for 8 million a year. Also for those expecting Wisniewski to come right in and compete for a starting spot. He was a 7th round pick in a horrible draft and appears to be a pure box safety which is a strange fit in Vic's defense. I think if he makes the team as the 4th safety and can be a key special teams player that would be a very positive outcome. They are going to need to add to this position even IF Epps is a starter since they don't have a reliable 3rd safety and that doesn't even get into the fact that people are just assuming Mukuba will be good when the evidence we have suggests that's a maybe. This is CLEARLY the one major need remaining on this team post draft, with a veteran backup guard as a distant second.
