The system emphasizes just blocking what is in front of you and not executing complex combo blocks to get to the second level. Part of the problem last year is that Dickerson and Jurgens could not execute those blocks. This was a mediocre offense last season where talent at skill positions helped lift up poor scheme, play calling and a drop off in play at certain positions.

What you are disregarding are the knowns. The Eagles have talented OTs. If Dickerson and Jurgens are healthy, they will have a top 5 to 10 OL. They have depth at RB and a top 5 player as their starter. They have an above average pass catching TE in Goedert. They have a legitimate number 1 WR in Smith. You seem to think it is unlikely these factors will result in an above average offense or at least an improvement from last season.

How likely is it that the offense is better? I think it is highly likely the run game will be improved. I would put the chances at like 70%. Hurts is a big questionmark in terms of picking up the offense and being effecient as a passer. People's opinions on Hurts will influence their view on the likely success of the changes. I am less certain about the passing offense but I think there's it's at least just as likely as not that the passing game is better. The passing game may be just as inefficient as last season. Hurts looks uncomfortable in the pocket often. Brown's production and talent is not replaced by Lemon/Stowers or Hollywood Brown. Hurts may struggle to execute the offense; be unable to process quickly and make mistakes. What is the case for Hurts being improved in this system? Eliminating the need to amelioriate AJ's demand for targets makes him better at just making the correct throw based on the read. People who are critical of Hurts tend to devalue the effort he makes trying to improve his play, his arm talent and accuracy. His arm talent and accuracy are not hindrances to his game. The problem he has is pocket movement at times and processing. My hope is that having some well defined answers and moving the pocket more eliminates those weaknesses in his game. When the offense is working to scheme players open and creates answers, Hurts has done well. The passing game, in stagnating over the last 2 seasons, was not creating many easy answers for him. I don’t think they make that move to get Crosby now that they have greenard. If they get to the trade deadline and they need a pass rusher then I think they become a player. Plus you get to see what he looks like off the knee injury before committing picks. If they were gonna do a Crosby trade now I would give up Nolan Smith, but I would make it a second round pick with conditions that it could become a first round pick based off of Crosby production. I’m not taking the a big chance at 29 years old with him coming off a knee injury that he’s just automatically gonna be what it was prior

I don't think this trade happens unless the pass rush doesn't look good heading to the trade deadline.

I thought Howie would have already made a move for Justin Reid. He went after him hard last year apparently and he likes to get his guy. I know Reid shut down rumors a month or two ago but wouldn't be surprised.
