Hurts definitely enjoyed stealing all the glory in those years though. Without his heroics on foot, there wasnt much positive you could say about him. And he was never looking to throw when he broke the pocket. His eyes were never down field. He had no interest in passing in those situations.

Often, after he dug us in to a hole not being able to pass, it was his legs that bailed us out and brought us back to win a game. Without those legs, no one could have ever talked about how clutch he is.

So, it seemed to make more sense for his WRs to block.

Now he looks sometimes, holds it forever, and runs out of bounds. They still dont seem sure if he is eventually going to take off or what...

If I took that poll, I would be in the 83%. However, this season is a big indicator IMO of if he should go or stay. Easier said than done, finding a better QB than Hurts. We've wasted our time talking about Tanner Brady for a couple of years now, like it was some sure thing, that hes an NFL starter. I'd say there are only 20 Legit NFL starting QBs in the league right now. The guy has definitely earned a grace period for his previous successes, after admittedly, a so so season. There are guys who are rated above him who have yet to achieve the pinnacle of playoff success and they are unequivocal starters on their teams. From Prescott to Lamar to Herbert to Purdy to Goff and so on. No one ever talks about replacing them.

What about his clutch gene when playing on the biggest stage of the NFL? Can't teach that. Others have puked in such situations, as we know when everything was on the line. I will always regret Bradberry's so called penalty in that first superbowl. There was no doubt in my mind given the opportunity, Hurts and the Eagles come back and win that game if the clock didn't run out. Then what would be the narrative now about his legend vs. a dynasty team? There shouldn't even be a doubt here who is the franchise QB is at this point. Yeah. If he absolutely bombs this year then we could talk. There is nothing remotely available that can do what he does on the field with his given track record. And still only 27 years old. Has room to improve, as the guy will continue to work on his craft. Expect a big year out of him with much less drama and an all business approach.

I think he can run effectively. Don't need him to be Lamar Jackson. Just get out of sacks and not be a statue back there. He's only 27. Talk to me when he is 30 or so. In this offense, he won't have to be Superman with his feet. Purdy isn't really fast, but quite effective and elusive out of the pocket. There are bootlegs and rollouts that he can exploit here with his quickness. Will see if he can emulate more of his style in this scheme.

Darnold is far from a statue and had his 1st good year. Brady & Foles are out of the league. Brady won in 2020 season and Stafford in 2021 season. So my point being that the current trend is non statue. Obvious as day!

Why are we not hearing in here that Darnold was carried by a top WR in JSN, top RB tandem in Walker and Charbonnett and the top defense in the league? I'm sure any QB could have won with that team. Right? It's too convenient to make blanket statements and discredit guys like that. He deserves a bunch of credit for Seahawks winning the Superbowl. Just like every other QB that wins it and usually gets the accolades. Mahomes had 2 injured or mediocre offensive lines in 2 different Superbowls and he gets blown out. He has an average supporting cast last year and he looks average. Okay, let's replace him.😅 Need a very good supporting cast. Goes without saying.

There is a middle ground between amazing supporting cast and nothing. Mahomes won a super bowl with juju Smith Schuster and marquez valdez scantling at WR and Isiah Pacheco RB. Yes, he had kelce as well. So sub par WR and RB, HOF TE, solid line.

Mahomes won 2 Superbowls that many competent QBs could have won with. Those 2 Championship defenses he had were really really good. Can make that argument as well. He had a HOF TE in Kelce and 3 pro bowlers in the interior line. Pacheco was a helluva RB those 2 years. And Andy Reid is his HOF play caller, who faked the crap out of the Eagles with great play design to make average Joes at WRs look good. They always had great special teams as well at K, P and returns. Let's not make it look like this guy had nothing to work with and he carried those teams by himself. A very, very good supporting cast and a superior coaching staff.

On top of it, the league handed them a ton of close games. Period. Man, Mahomes is great. But people love to overhype this dude. I can't wait til the Chiefs are .500 this year and we hear all of the excuses of why he's still great. And blame everyone else.

The Eagles went so long without a Super bowl that the fans started to hold it up on this pedestal as some mythical thing that only the most amazing in the world can accomplish. I hear "Hurts has proven you can win with him.” You can win with a lot more QBs than you realize if the roster is good enough. How we haven’t learned that in this city by now when Nick Fing Foles won a Super Bowl and he’s not even remotely a good QB boggles the mind.

Howie went on a generational run. He may have had the best 5 years any GM has had in the history of the NFL and that’s not hyperbole. Look at his trade, free agent, and draft track record.

Hurts will either be with the Eagles in 2027 on a new more expensive contract or he will be playing elsewhere. No in between. And if he doesn’t play much better than he did last season this year then it’s not going to be the former. No chance Howie gives him a new deal if his play doesn’t improve and he’s not gonna wanna be here without a new deal either most likely.

There has been a shift in quarterback play for quite some time now that I think people who are old enough to remember 15-20 years ago and watched guys like Peyton, Brady, prime Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, Rivers, etc can’t really comprehend. Overall the position has declined, is less reliant on field generals, and the guys that come out now and have been coming out for almost a decade now are less polished. You can now get away with having quarterbacks like Darnold, Hurts, Bo Nix, Purdy and making a deep playoff run or even win a Super Bowl. So many people are enamored with generational QBs like Mahomes thinking they come out every year instead of realizing the reality of them being very rare.

This team is built well enough where if Hurts is a top 7-12 QB they are good enough to go deep and win it all. The same way he was in 2024. Teams aren’t as focused anymore as relying on ungodly talent at QB and are instead building the team around them whether that’s through the offensive line, running game, or defense. That has been the blueprint Roseman has been using for 6-7 years now. It’s also why a team like Buffalo can’t get over the hump: they’re too reliant on Allen.

If Houston had a top 15 QB in the playoffs last year instead of Stroud playing like Mike McMahon, they probably would have won the AFC.

Heard Chad Reuter on NFL Radio today saying Sorsby will be a 2nd round pick in the supplemental draft. Evaluated him as better than Ty Simpson if he’d been in the April draft — not a huge shock as most had Simpson as a 2nd round prospect.

He’s clearly a better prospect than Dante Moore, and some team will likely cough up a 1st round pick on him at next year’s draft.
