It's not the worst thing for him. If he can keep his nose clean for a year (if), it shows a degree of recovery from addiction, he can attend some QB academies, hire a QB whisperer to further develop, run his own Pro Day and still be relevant next April.

Nick Bosa barely took the field in his final college season and still got drafted #2 overall. Talent paints over a lot of things in the NFL, and the guy has quite a bit of talent.

They changed the offense to more of a run focused attack in 2021 after the pass game was struggling early in the season. That coupled with the fact that in the second half they faced a ton of tomato can QB’s. They needed all of that to barely get in and then look outmatched in Tampa.

He’s had good-great games. He’s had good-great stretches. He’s had good seasons. He’s a winner.

But crediting him with taking them to the postseason in 2021 is just being disingenuous.

It's factual that he took them to the playoffs. A night and day difference from the horrible QB play we were stuck with from Wentz the season before.

It would be nice to enjoy a great season from him without weekly reminders of how expensive/difficult he’ll be to retain in the following offseason. Obviously that’s not even close to being a thought in the minds of those negotiating- just my own lol

And if he's not signed prior, ooohhhhhh noez, howie asleep at wheel again!?!??! I know this is a discussion board but man, some of the discussions on here are like teen girls fighting over a boy.

Carter is a good talent. The team drifted him when there were reports of problems. He played well since joined the team. Yes, there were behavior issues and injuries. I think the FO will have problems to let a talent like that to leave. My guess is that they tell him to clean up his acts and play well, then a deal is done during the season.

He led them to the playoffs with both his legs and his arm. He was a major improvement over what we had with Wwentz in 2020.

Not rewriting anything. Jalen saved this franchise. Unlike you I was here and calling it out in real time. It was no surprise at all to see the leap he then took in 2022 after ehat he showed in 2021.

There's no use. His blind love for this man knows no bounds, despite the fact that he threw for less than 200 yards in 10 games last season (including playoff game) despite having the best weapons in football. I don't even understand how that is possible, even with the banged up o-line and Patullo calling plays. Hurts could average 50 yards/game passing in this new offense and he will come up with some asinine reason as to how it's everyone else's fault.

Yeah this is all negotiating ploy. I don’t doubt Howie considered trading him for better players, but like Adams with the rams if that doesn’t work out it doesn’t mean the player is now worthless to you. Heck we almost traded Hurts once upon a time

UFL or CFL?

I would guess Carter will be extended next offseason like Jordan Davis was. One more year to be sure about the shoulder and any potential attitude issues, but I would expect it to happen. If there were a crazy trade offer Howie might do it but I would expect him to get the extension.

Media and fans will be anxious about it all year though.

Best case scenario. Carter has an insanely good year and we trade him for a first and then some. Because everyone knows that nut job is going full Albert Haynesworth and mailing it in the second he gets paid

Everyone always wants to sign a player now before it gets more expensive to do so next year.

No one ever considers the fact that they'll be saying the same next year.

And they said the same thing last year.

And basically, its not true, and its always true at the same time. because its always relative.

Howie will sign him when the time is perfect.

It'll be a record breaking deal. more expensive that it would have been a year prior, and less expensive than it would have been a year later. And within 2 years his top paid deal will become only a top 5 deal, and he will be considered a steal.

Its the same thing over and over again. It really doesnt matter.

All that matters is that Howie sees when it slots best in to his spreadsheets.

I feel like the NFL is overstepping here. Not holding the supplemental draft when there is someone technically eligible is thin ice. They should have held the supplemental draft and then suspended him for a year. That's more in line with previous disciplinary action and in line with the punishment due to the personal conduct policy they've used in the past.

I haven't seen anything from him to suggest he is waiting for a payday to then mail it in. He is a player that is extremely competitive, loves playing and loves doing what he can to be dominant.

Philadelphia fans are generally awful though and allergic to supporting and appreciating great players.
