I was fighting for the words for quite some time , adhd, being a stoner(haha my name), or just simple inability. But you nailed it - my thoughts and feelings surrounding Jalen Carter being a long term Eagle. You’re very insightful regarding our birds and often find the right words. I’m on these boards a lot , specifically 5-8 times a day. If it wasn’t for Jalen Hurts, my thoughts regarding this team would mirror yours. As well as @eagle45 (Im not quite sure on his stance, indicative to me it’s probably not extreme as yours) Right now @RememberTheKoy , despite his seemingly inability to see Hurts’ flaws, has a better grasp of what Jalen Hurts is and you have a better grasp of what he isnt. I urge you both to find the middle ground - because that’s where he is. The point of my post is to commend all those mentioned for bringing real football talk to the table , as well as those not mentioned(Mike with all those numbers , notw, bigefly) Whether I disagree with y’all or not, your input and opinions mean more than you’ll ever know. This team is my life, as sad or as happy that may be. I’m about to be 36 years and I remember vividly checking these boards day to day , on my summer vacation to see if Broderick frickin Bunkley signed to his rookie contract. I was one of the ones ANGRY , Donte Stallworth wasnt coming back and this board brought me back down to earth with a simple reminder he caught 38 receptions - we’ll be fine. If my teen years were a pie chart , this website would consume no less than 35%

I dont know if this is a future starting point guard, or a career bench scorer. Or, a bust. But Id be pumped for him to just be a really, really good bench scorer.

When I watch Carter play, I can tell he loves playing football. When I watched Haynesworth play, I could tell he didn't. Carter needs to mature as a person. Maybe he will or maybe he'll always be a lot of great with a side of bonehead like DJax, but he isn't a quitter like Haynesworth.

A back up PG was a need so can't really complain with no bigs worth drafting at that point. I liked Carr but I think his lack of PG skills led them to Philon. We remain a 40-45 win team. Not much that can be done to change that right now.

Posted a Philon video in the 6ers thread. Guy in the video mentioned John Collins and Jack Landale as free agent options in the front court.

I dont expect a team with so much money tied up in washed Embiid and George to compete.

But it can still come together pretty nicely if some of the cheaper vets decide theyd like to come play with this exciting back court.

Hard to say, he’s going to be 29 and Simmons is a better player. Not to say those things are absolutes when it comes to contracts and market setting. I just think he would be likely in the same ball park as Simmons vs pushing the market substantially higher.

Hurts looks very distracted this season. Should be studying his first real NFL playbook.

If Sixers can turn these three 2nd round draft picks from McCain trade into an early 2nd rounder tonight that's a pretty good result. You get at least 2 good bench pieces for this year and a higher ceiling at PG. McCain was a secondary ball handler at best. In the playoffs with a half court offense, you need a guy like Philon who can dribble and create shots for the offense. Also, has higher upside on defense where McCain is slow and a traffic cone. Reset the clock for salary being spent when you're tied to 2 albatross contracts. Had to see the forest through the trees in that deal. As I said then, great return by Morey for a guy who could barely crack the lineup. This would be an A+ trade with a 2nd bench piece acquired tonight for a guy who was a bad fit here with Maxey and giving you only 17 minutes per night in playoffs with Thunder. This guy will probably play closer to 30 minutes a night and replace Grimes's minutes.
