The guy who I don't think will clear waivers is Jake Majors. There's just not enough good OL out there and someone will need depth

Think he makes the team. My tough one is Cameron Williams/ Fred Johnson. One of them are out. Maybe via trade. Thinking Williams is the keeper, due to age and better fit for OZ.

Yeah, Bernard needs to work on the most basic fundamentals… I don’t think that is what the practice squad is even for. He’d be working by himself with some sort of remedial coach, so he might as well be on IR.

Nothing wrong with that. I forget if he can still attend meetings on IR, but if so that would be the best of both worlds. Attending meetings then having a private coach to work on things.

He gets that $ as a IR stash or as the 53rd man on the roster, yes?

Yes, and I just looked it up and I think it's over 800k now so sure they'll take the IR

Stoutland is a philly legend but I always thought the notion that there would be a huge dropoff because of a position coach change was overblown. If anything the young guys seem to be doing better. Of course it's early.

Another example of where willing helicopter flying owners can spread some more money around… as only the top-53 count towards the cap, right? Could be wrong…

You’re right - you’re wrong. Once the season starts the 53, the IR, the PUP, and the practice squad all count against the cap.

I would’ve liked to have seen Kendall at G and Toth at C, and Lane for the 2nd half of the season.

Good to know.

If you can get a 7th for Dalton then just go get it. Tanner is going to be the #2.

If they get a 7th for him then Howie’s rental of him is a wash because he only cost a 7th to acquire. Cheap insurance policy.

Weru is the far better prospect. No way he gets cut. I think Bernard could go unclaimed if cut. He is a long ways away. Trying to figure out the 53 is tough. I think they go light at corner. None of the backups at corner have done anything. One of Pulley or Gush makes it.

Dalton trade was bad. Nobody in their right mind would give used socks for that guy. Payton may never amount to anything but you are not cutting him and keeping Dalton.

Dalton trade only cost a 7th round Draft pick. How is that a bad trade? When you buy insurance for your personal automobile, do you expect to get that insurance for free?

I agree, but Howie may prove us wrong.

He cleared waivers last year. I doubt much has changed.

Eagles find a way to keep both Weru and Bernard. They trust Hurtt will develop these 2 and have to prepare for life with out Ojomo and Smith (in 2 years). Need some young guys waiting in the wings. And Hunt is gonna cost a fortune. Bernard probably goes on IR and Weru is rostered. Becomes even an easier decision, if Greenard is out first few weeks.

Washburn is the OLB/Edge coach.

Still cashing checks

I don’t know if we should carry 4 RBs, but he’s more intriguing to me than AJ Dillon was last season.

I would say under Stout's last few years, there wasn't a lot of young talent coming into the OL. They seemed to rely on vet backups like Darian Kinnard, Fred Johnson, Matt Pryor, Bret Toth, etc. You essentially only have Steen. Keegan and McMahon didn't work, and the jury is still out on Williams and Hinton. I don't have Williams or Hinton making my initial 53 over Fred Johnson and Markel Bell.

This year they have at least 4 guys on the OL that will make the team with less than 2 years in the league. Morris, Kendall, Lampkin, and Bell. That's a very different OL room than in years past.

Jimmy K saying the Eagles should trade F Johnson is a perfect example of how most writers are clueless. Depth is massively important, especially if you can go two tackles deep

Agreed - like what Bell has done, but not there yet.

Absolutely. Even if he is it's nice knowing if both go down they are as covered as a team could be.

Where are we at with S4 and CB5; didn’t seem to be a good night for the guys who were out there and a bunch of others didn’t even play.

For S4 isn’t Michael Carter in that spot? Did he play at all last night, or was he held out?

CB5 is definitely a concern.

They also played him 100% of the snaps last night, so I don't think they are worried. Maybe trying to find a trade partner before the next game.

I feel so much better this morning after watching the game.

The backup OL looks very competent. Ebiketie & Epenesa look like solid depth at edge. Robinson or Hall will be a nice DT 5. McKee finally showed up.

The play selection created plenty optimism. Maybe Mannion needs to stay in the booth.

I don’t count Dejean as a S, but that would be a reason to maybe carry 3 only.

He's played better this year
