Say we had the #1 pick

Would you be mad/upset if we drafted Jeremiah Smith with all of our other needs? He's getting comp'd to a lot of greats

I had mentioned this the other day. If it were me, I'd move the pick for an absolute haul. If there were no offers coming in that was worth it, I wouldn't be mad about taking him.

Smitty is approaching 30 and might miss a large portion of the season. Wicks isn't here long term. Lemon is good. Cooper is okay.

Smith - Smith - Lemon - Wicks is nasty and, should we look to a new QB, he has a great group to work with

Is there anyone who is more desperate to be in the Eagles beats friend circle than this guy? Every Fing day this dude is tagging beat reporters trying to get noticed. Dude just offer to give them a blowie already my god.

The bottle that hit Howie in the head at the parade knocked out his intelligence and common sense. As someone replied last week when I posted that, we need to hit him in the head again and hope old Howie returns

There are great receivers that have won a SB

But SB is a team accomplishment you know?

The last "generational" WR taken first over was Johnson in the 90s. He was good but how well did that work for the Jets? But you are correct that SB is a team accomplishment so picking another WR with all the holes they have would be a stupid move. They won't bet getting #1 anyway but if they do trade back.

One of the most misguided narratives out there is Howie and Lurie only want coaches they can control so they'll always hire puppets. It's just not based in reality or facts.

Of course it's factual. Julian Lurie thru the analytics dept feeds Nick the weekly offensive game plans that are not optional. He passes the plan along to the OC to implement in his play sheet. Nick was hired to be Howie Jeff and Julian's stooge. He knows nothing about football to the extent he'd be a mediocre high school coach.

Guys going down like flies in this defense.

Progress!!!

Stowers' first-ever block was better than every block in Calcaterra's entire career lol.

I know I am in the minority but I think Stowers will be fine over the long term. Yeah, we expect a 2nd round pick to be good this year but, if he can come in next year as a better blocker and improve as a receiver, that would be great

McNabb must be hitting the bottle again. He just said all they need to do is win the next 3 games in a row and the whole season changes. Eagles can make it into the playoffs and steal a game and build momentum and see where it takes them

I'm not really looking to defend Siri at all. I think he should be fired in the offseason. It's my believe that he's a purely ornamental head coach who is only peripherally involved in the nuts and bolts of the offense. Lurie couldn't fire a HC one season after a SB coming off all those consecutive playoff appearances, so they just found a way to turn over control of the offense to someone else. It's Siri's fault for not not being enough of an all-encompassing, respected, intelligent "detailed" HC in the first place that he allowed this to happen. But, regardless, I still believe that it did happen and that he's very small measure to the offense this year, last year, or the year before that.

BUT...what happens if Stout doesn't come back to the Eagles next year after Siri is gone? What happens if the offense still stinks? (it will). Siri doesn't win without Hurts. Next year will show Hurts not winning with Sirianni.

Does all of this mean Hurts needed Siri to win? Of course not. The team is falling apart. It happens.

Sirianni is not a sustainable HC, he is not the traditional decision maker, and frankly the way rosters move around nowadays with free agency throwing ridiculous amounts of money, players throwing fits and demanding trades and let's not mention the rise in "off the field" stunts that get these guys into trouble......Sirianni does not have the strengths to overcome a different era of football that seems to be changing every year. Without a strong coaching staff he stumbles, and just like with the players, team success means your coaching staff gets poached......so once again a HC like Sirianni poses more risk than reward because if there are a few years where the coaching staff is young and/or inexperienced, well then those years havent gone well for us.

Howie/Lurie - learn from your failures and find a HC that can contribute in more ways then Powerpoint presentations (joking)......but also doesn't feel the need to look over the coordinators unless its totally neccesary......mix experience with inexperience. You have to keep the pipeline going. The same way the roster has to be mixed with young guys and veterans, leadership is needed.......this team currently has NO leadership.......not from coaching and not from the players. Regardless of our crap record I would want nothing more than Lane Johnson, Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox or Malcolm Jenkins to walk in that film room and chew these guys out. The FO got way too comfortable with "hopefuls" this year and it has backfired.

Gear up for the next window Howie!

He'll be 28 next Saturday

I haven't been watching for awhile. Are Tirico and Collinsworth still talking about Susan Saint James?

Yup came in 2016 with wentz. Amazing we are 10 seasons removed from SB LII

If you remove our Eagles fandom from the situation...

A team has a #1 quality WR who is 28. They have arguably the worst offensive line in football. They do not have a long-term QB. And the HC is about to get fired.

The chances of getting those pieces back in place while Devonta Smith is still in his prime are vanishingly low.

Jefferson is a better player than smith. It’s not like Minnesota had elite QB play with Jefferson either. His QBs been Darnold, Murray, wentz, cousins. No offense Kirk cousins was never consider a top tier Qb. Most in this blog believed he was a stat padder and overrated. Add in Justin Jefferson went 1500+ yards in 4 of his first 6 seasons.

You're proving my point, Devonta has been the 2nd option in a lackluster passing attack and still out up 1,000 yards in 3 different seasons. Jefferson was the only option.

Manning makes total sense, however Mestemaker makes zero sense. He's clearly the number 1 pick, why would he risk waiting another year?

I count 3 seasons out of his first 6.

Already brought this idea up a week ago. You trade Devanta for prime picks right now, while you can get them. If he extends, he is 31 in the 2029 season. So you are paying him about $35M per year at age 31, 32 & 33 at minimum. Not sure i like that. I think he's a 1B WR. We could hold on a year and trade him next offseason, but you probably get less with 1 year left on contract and he's 1 year older approaching 30. There's always the injury factor and he's small. Got to time these things right. Better a year early than a year late.

Wouldn't be the first QB to avoid going to the Jets. Some mocks have Smith ahead of him which make sense if it's SD.
