I think he certainly loves Hurts, probably Barkley too. They're both good representatives of the organization. Based on that pic of Lurie upstream he certainly is NOT happy. I figured Sirianni would get a pass for this season due to all the injuries, now I'm not so sure. What I don't want to lose sight of is that we barely beat WSH the first time and at full strength or nearly so. Last night was scraping the bottom of the barrel in a few positions.

BLG said something on the radio that I’ve been saying for a while. It may not even be that Nick deserves to be fired after missing the playoffs one time. But it’s similar to Doug. Lurie asked him to change his offensive assistants and he didn’t wanna do it.

But lurie also viewed it as it’s time to make a change to go in another direction. Lurie stated Doug probably didn’t deserve to be fired after that year with the success he had had the three previous years. But at some point, you gotta make a decision for what’s best going forward for the organization and not based off what the past was.

To me this goes further than just this year. This goes further than the injuries have mounted up and they’re just not a very good team. I think lurie wouldn’t have loved if the defense was bad like it is now but the offense was playing well, but I think Nick would’ve been ok. This goes to your passing offense in a passing league with an owner that wants to be a passing team because that’s his philosophy and it’s been either and or inconsistent for 3 years. I think he was Ok with it in 2024 because they won a Super Bowl running the way they did. I think he allowed it in 2025 because they won the Super Bowl of the year before. However, I don’t think he’s gonna stick with it now. Because this would be the third year in a row the passing game even before guys got hurt didn’t look good. And there’s no adjustments to help OL or passing attack try to make it look better.

And this doesn’t absolve the quarterback either. I think lurie loves hurts. However, he also has to be responsible to the organization. We hope gilon can come back from the blood clots. He should. However, that’s got to play some role in this. And then you gotta look at his flaws and going forward with him. I think they’ve already started to look at other quarterbacks just in case they have to as they have draft capital to do so. He’s back in 2027 contract and because I think Lurie still probably believes in him. but I don’t think he and Howie are naïve enough to not go looking and seeing what else is out there and if they love another quarterback to be the successor to him.

As for coaching changes post bye, not sure there are great options.

HC: Nick needs to go, but I think Hurtt is the only logical option to take over. Vic doesn't want the gig. Unless we want to just make Big Dom the head coach. Or screw it - interim HC Jeff Stoutland (I'm kidding, I think).

OC: No reason to pull the plug now, but you have a replacement in Grizzard. Maybe let him call plays.

ST: Just fire Clay. I don't care that there is no replacement. Our coverage units are abhorrent.

OL: Fire Kuper, bring in TJ. Can't be worse.

Bring in Jason Kelce as HC. Nick Foles as OC. Jason Peters as o-line coach. Darren Sproles as STC. And Brian Dawkins as D coordinator.

Season saved

What’s Jason Avant gotta do to replace moorehead?

Firing Nick during the season does absolutely nothing. He’s earned the right to be ceremoniously dismissed in the offseason. Tossing him now doesn’t solve anything so might as well just ride it out. And if this rate they will stay in the top 5 draft pick range.

I think that's true. This team needs a systemic overhaul that will require an off season, not a plug-in or two.

I don't really understand the logic when people ask "What kind of message does it send to fire your most successful coach from a win % standpoint". Anybody who has followed Nick's tenure the past six seasons knows that this passing offense, outside of 2022 has been suspect at best. Barkley and the offensive line bailed them out in 2024 with an historic year that led to a Super Bowl on their backs and the defense. This season is now the third implosion that Nick has had in the past four years. For a CEO/vibes/culture coach, there has been nothing but drama surrounding this team for five years now. Maybe Nick gets another job after this similar to Doug, but not one team would be banging the door down to bring him in as a coach. This is not an AR situation where he lands with another team immediately because he's one of the greatest offensive minds the league has ever seen.

Those within the league know this and they also know that Nick has been the beneficiary of some great rosters the past few years. The expectation for a new coach coming in is "We can't have historically awful offenses in back to back seasons" and I think that's a fair ask.

Kuper had similar issues last year in Minnesota, which is why he was available…

I doubt it would be much better with Stoutland. Look at all the mediocre prospects who failed to develop under him, his blocking scheme requires "unicorns," big OL who have short area mobility and power.

Now who on the roster fits that mold? Mailata of course. Bell, but in past years under Stoutland, he wouldn't have seen the field as a rookie, nor was he expect to do so this season with both Johnsons ahead of him.

If LD and Jurgens had stayed healthy, everything would look very different the last couple seasons, and Stoutland would probably still be the OL coach.

Though even Stoutland would struggle to make a run game work even with his peak OL with Pierce/Steele, then Mitchell/Blue as his RBs.

Before Barkey they had Swift, Gainwell, etc.

He can be assistant. D-Jax is the WR coach

The #1 pick is actually achievable with just a little bit of help

Not sure you’re gonna get Djax to leave his HC gig. Might be able to get Riley cooper in a PR role

Brent celek for TE coach

A distinction needs to be made between what’s left of AJ Brown and what the offense came to depend on from him.

AJ fell off a cliff and it was great to trade him away. Doesn’t mean Devonta is a real #1 or they don’t miss what AJ once brought.

The offense is a different scheme than what they had with AJ. I think Devonta is a better WR than Desean Jackson was at his peak. He is a better route runner and stepped up in important games. Even when he is the primary target, he is hard to cover. He has the talent to produce like a top 5 WR in the League. I don't know that we will ever see him produce at that level with this team. He is also less versatile than a WR like Jamaar Chase or Justin Jefferson. He's probably on par or just a little less talented than JSN. Certainly he has the talent to be an uber productive WR in the right environment. The problem is the environment.

That O-Line has McKee dang near shaking in his cleats, he looks so flustered within the pocket. His short dump off throws to RB's are inaccurate with no touch, his release looks different at times coming out of his hands. Unless the pocket is clean with room to step up, he is a deer in the headlights. McKee is who he is right now and that's a backup - but Mannion and his inexperience is not helping this situation at all.

Don't know what any OC can do if you can't pass block, you have no running game and an inexperienced, immobile QB with backup WRs and a fading TE.

Teams don't respect the run (eliminates playaction), aren't worried about the deep throw (when does McKee have 3+ seconds for a WR to run a deep route?).

And they sit on underneath routes and hot receivers.

And a scheme that is so bad or confusing because of a bad OL coach that people are continually getting through unblocked.

They need to call Lane Johnson, Jeff Stoutland and probably the ghostbusters.

I imagine Lane saw this coming, hence his decision.

I think they could start making trades this week. Why wait until next week?

Berman offered a fantasy trade recently: Josh Simmons for Jihaad Campbell. Two teams swap a disappointing pick for each other. And if Stout comes back in 2027 he can coach Simmons and allow Eagles to address other positions in the draft instead of using a top 5 pick on an OT(who may not even be best available anyway).

Desean was one of the greatest deep threats of all time and made defenses sit on their heels on every play. You pair him with a balanced receiver and that’s as dynamite as it gets.

Devonta is Isaac Bruce and Torrey Holt…without Kurt Warner and Martz/Vermeil. Hence the bad fit.

Desean could fit with any qb that can throw a rainbow.

Been saying it since the loss to Carolina. Mannion’s offense just isn’t working. Maybe one day he’s a great coach/play caller but this just isn’t working. Maybe Siri does have more control than we think behind the scenes? I don’t know.

But Siri has earned the right to finish this season. Let him go down swinging.

Wow - what a bold revelation Copernicus! Don't let all this Eagles negativity get in the way of you splitting the atom!

Tbh probably could get Simmons for cheap anyway. I think they are over his crap. Talented player if you get his head on right. Basically have to have stoutland doing it cause don’t trust Kuper whatsoever to get his head on straight. Maybe mailata can be a mentor for him.

There are no OTs worth a top 5 pick in this draft so you are right to question if it would be BPA. It's questionable if there is one worthy of top 10 and the top 3 are a roll of the dice right now as to who's better. There is no reason to use a pick to replace Bell just yet. Johnson gave up 10 sacks his rookie year and had Stout.
